And Go!

some tidbits

don't know why the twins/brewers game is offline, Yovani Gallardo has been called up but is supposed to start Monday in place of Capuano. He may take the 5th starter spot from Bush or Vargas depending on how he peforms when Cappy returns. Just a heads up for everyone. He's been very good in triple AAA, another hyped up guy, but we shall see.

Matt Garza may be close to being called up, don't know if the Twins are jumping the gun and doing it for tomorrow's game but word is if Scott Baker has another poor outting, Garza will join the Twins rotation.

Also Huston Street is not supposed to return until after the All-Star Break. That was released a couple days ago for anyone who missed it.

I think there are a couple nice looking dogs out there:

NYM +156 (Perez v. Clemens)
-Yankees are hot though, just still think Clemens has some rust to shake off still.

SF +127 (Zito v. Tavarez)
-Giants bats scare me a bit, need to look up info on who will be playing, also the Red Sox don't lose 3 in a row often. 3 @ home though...? (Rockies game still pending)

********ARZ +142 (OWINGS v. Bedard)********
-for those who follow my threads, they know I feel about Owings. He's been under the radar all year long, if he didn't have ONE BAD OUTTING he would have an ERA of 2.73 in his starts. If you include his lone relief appearance an ERA of 2.81. I've see tons of respect for Maine, Germano, Bailey, Slowey, I'm sure you'll see a Gallardo thread pop up this weekend. Some well deserved sure but some of these guys got more respect before throwing a major league pitch than Owings has gotten all year.
-add on top of that, the O's are still reeling.
-The D-Backs just got swept and I can't see them losing 4 in a row, they just happened to run into a hot Yankees lineup.
-As good as Bedard can be I think the O's are outclassed in every aspect of the game except SP.

Friday baseball discussion+thoughts

"Best fade on the net" mode is still on apparently...I had 3 leans yesterday...Bucs...ok that one was a loss as soon as Gorz let in that 1st homer...just wasn't their day, over in Minnesota and over in KC-STL game...guess which play I decide to scratch? you got it...:D.

Anyways, let's get on to friday card.

Early thoughts (just early leans):

I usually don't look for "safe bets", rather for the discrepancies between my estimations and the ones bookies have (their lines), but Oakland with Haren has been money. Oakland in general, and Haren is a stud.

St Louis are getting thumped as we speak, by the Kansas City Royals nonetheless. Oakland are hot, they just won a couple of thriller games on the road and are coming back home pumped up...

Runline is awarded with 2.23. Yeah I know, similar situation to Gorzelanny on Thursday but A's aren't Bucs. Thank God. Btw I'm watching M.A.S.H. now, and the old doctor has a Texas Rangers cap. LOL.

OK I know what's going to happen. Arizona were a rather appealing bet a couple of times in NY this week, they got thumped, now no one is going to look at them, and they win in Baltimore, who are clueless at the moment. These guys are losing games even with huge pitching mismatches, they're just not in the zone right now. I should send my application there, maybe I could play for the Orioles, we're in a similar situation :D.
Anyways, Micah Owings is 2.36 in Baltimore. I know we're talking Bedard but the Snakes can still bite and frankly the way O's are playing now...I'm perhaps willing to take a shot.

Pirates - White Sox UNDER 9 (1.94)

Maholm v Garland.

Ok now that the Bucs have ended their 3 game hitting carnival in which they scored 21 runs...it's fade time again. They just lost 0-6 to Loe and the Rangers.
KAMERON LOE. And they score ZERO runs off him. With Gorzelanny, one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound. This team is as clueless as the Rangers. I know they don't have playoff aspirations but come on, momentum chance anyone? how about a nice little run to earn those paychecks?
As I said numerous times before, this is a two man team when offense is concerned, Nady and Bay. Now that they're cold who is going to score off Garland?

On the other hand, Maholm is far from a reliable pitcher, more of a gas can kind actually, but the White Sox are hitting what again, .232 as a team? or even less?
I'm not sure if they have ONE hitter there averaging more than .300. And Thome and Konerko will get 28 million combined this year.

Tell me who scores in this game. 3-2 written all over it. But hey maybe the fact the Sox scored those few homers and Maholm is hittable, so small lean White Sox, but the way they've been losing games...how can you back them?
Under looks solid but look at the totals I've posted lately...I can't hit a house.
Podsednik and Crede still out.

Over in Toronto? Halladay hasn't been as stellar this year and his team is finally starting to provide some top notch RS.

Zito is 2.23 at Fenway. I'm thinking we're getting ripped a bit. I expected at least 2.30 to be honest. And Boston are in a black hole, deep black hole. They can't win behind Schilling, Beckett, they can't score off Fogg or Francis, barely scored off Cook.
SF look enticing against Tavarez.

A lot of plays I don't like:

Felix in Houston. Felix is a mystery, Seattle as a team are a mystery, they're dealing with a small downtrend after a HUGE winning streak, I think Jose Lopez's brother died two days ago, Beltre is questionable...

Houston on the other hand shit, but Wandy wasn't always this shaky...Nah, can't back this Astros' offense.

KC-FLA
Meche v Mitre
Would've pounded KC against any other FLA pitcher here, but Mitre has had some nasty stuff...
Here's an idea. KC-STL 13-6, bottom 4th(!!!?). Perhaps they'll score like 20 and use up all their runs for the day. Mitre is solid, Meche is solid...
Under 8.5 is available at 2.04, plus money.

Dodgers with Lowe...
Against Santana. Ervin Santana is a road kill this year. The Dodgers will want to avenge the series a few weeks ago...Lowe is solid. The Angels in hot and cold mode...As soon as I conclude their main hitters are unclutch at the moment, they start to hit...have no clue what's going to happen here, but Lowe at nearly a PK is a solid bet I think.
This is the Dodger stadium after all.
One of my strongest leans.

That's it...share your views.:shake:

decided to leave the other thread...I didn't see this one, wasn't there when I clicked new thread :D but nevermind, I'll post my plays there later on...

good luck tonight ReNew...I like Owings at plus money. :wacka wacka: :cheers:

haha, i just started one of these.

I'm definitely eyeing Zona, always looking out for Owings and finally he is a sizable dog. I have been waiting for this kind of line on Owings all year and now it's in. I think I may go fairly large on this, I am loving the sight of it, just wish I had a winning day today so I'd be more comfortable laying a large bet on a dog.

Pirates/White Sox under 9 - I suppose that is a good bet, if you trust Maholm enough but the Sox are in some much trouble right now and i'm sure Garland can shut down the Pirates. You covered it all

Over in Toronto - I don't know, Washington is pretty unpredictable but I think right now since they've been playing about .500 ball for the past month and a half they are a team you could really just bet blindly and profit off of. They're always dogs and they've won numerous games at +200, idk how you covert to decimals, us Americans have to use the American system.

I do like Zito too but I don't know if I can see the Sox losing 3 in a row @ home.

There looks to be a lot of value on Zito tomorrow, especially with the public starting to back Boston (Tavares).

Ted Lilly -150 doesn't look too appealing either versus the Padres (Wells) as the Cubs don't hit lefties for shit and Ted Lilly has almost and 8 ERA in his last 3. Plus that SD bullpen should be solid.

Over in Minny/milwaukee looks good too...

Can't argue with AZ, NYM or SF. Not sure if I have the balls to bet against the Yanks right now. They have to lose some time though. Also like TB with Shields on the mound and the KC under.

Det -114
- After throwing a complete game against the Royals I dont think Jon Lieber will be able to have another quality outting. Bonderman has been shaky in some recent games but this is a fairly cheap price on Detriot. No doubt Detriot gets pounded hard.

guys...
i'm the first to fade Erwin Santana on the road...and i think Saunders should be in their rotation. but a road trip to LA is not necessarily the road. it's a 30 minute drive w/out traffic.

anyways...not sure if i'm playing this game, or just waiting for sat and sun...but the Halos flat out OWN (yes, own) the Dodgers.
just look at the history of this series before playing it...recent history, or whatever...wherever ballpark they play in...the Halos own this matchup.

Halos will take 2 of 3, imo. I'd be on them to sweep actually, if the Dodgers weren't playing so well right now...so i'll buy 2 of 3.

these are my thoughts on the card I just emailed my buddy. <st1>

</st1><st1><st1:state w:st="on">Arizona</st1:state></st1> Owings at a good dog price vs a good pitcher who is better on the road.<o>

</o>
Frisco & over 9 Zito’s high walk numbers kinda scare me off the side and more toward the over. Sox hit about half as many homers off lefties than righties. Bonds in the lineup and likes the righties to the tune of 9 dingers on the year. Bullpen is a question for the Giants, and <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Boston</st1:city></st1> coming off 2 L’s to the ROx.<o></o>

CWS u9 Never a side here, and Malolm ain’t that great, but I really can’t see the cold pale sox bats getting many runs. They could break out tho, but not till they are healthy. <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Garland</st1:city></st1>is good enough to keep the Bucs low<o>

</o>
<st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Detroit</st1> </st1:city>Better pitcher, simple as that. Lieber has given up a few runs his last few outings, save his last vs KC who hit great one day, and gone the next.<o>

</o>
Yankees (personally a no bet for me since line is greater than 140, but damn, they are playing awfully good. Does Clemens pitch badly or good, that is what I am trying to figure. Would be a RL play if anything and I don’t do those often.<o>

</o>
seattle:Felix hasn’t looked as good as he did pre injury. Didn’t look at the over here, but it might be worth a shot. <st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Houston</st1></st1:city> has Bullpen woes, and despite dropping two straight, the Mariners were playing really good baseball. Little hesitant to lay the chalk on a pitcher who has had a couple bad road outings, but I can’t see anything I like with the Stros. Beltre is a concern, going to see his status on the morrow

KC, Meche is about all I have to type. I usually always bet on him. He has lost like 5 straight and gets the Fav role vs Mitre. Sergio is pretty good, better than his record indicates, but I still lean Gil, although KC scoring 17 runs last night has me a little worried for some reason.<o>

</o>
TB, Only reason I would make this bet is because Shields can go deep into games and take the Bullpen out of it. Rox took 2 @ Fenway and I ain’t buying it.

<o></o><st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Oakland</st1></st1:city>, another price out of my range, but Haren is a stud. RL or nothing, this could see 200 by morning.
<o></o>
Dodgers: Swept the mets, but they are playing so badly. Fortunately they played really well in doing so, moreso than the mets beating themselves. A huge home/road disparity for Ervin, and D. Lowe is good enough at home.<o></o>
<o></o>
11 plays is too many, I need to whittle it down.<o></o>

yanks, good heads up on the Halos. they had the day off on Thursday so the travel from Cincy shouldn't be a problem.

I like the Over in Boston. I'm going to dig deeper, but Boston will get their runs. SFN? who knows, but any SFN ml believer I think would be better off lumping for Over.

Yanks, do you think Santana is so lackluster on the road because of the travel, spending time away from home, on the buses, planes, etc...

or because of the ballpark?

I'm asking because I'm curious about this, your post implies that it was because of the first stated reason. I'm keen to think he might not adapt as well to other ballparks.

i absolutely love the a's tonight. looper has been horrible for the cards so far in his two interleague starts. he allowed 13 runs in 10 innings and managed only two k. tonight he might also not get much help from the bullpen cause they came in during the second inning in yesterdays game and could be pretty tired.
haren at home against a struggling pitcher and a banged up bullpen...sounds good to me!
