With Drew Olsen out for UCLA, points are at a bit of a premium for them. Notre Dame should be able to score at will against the always shaky Bruin defense. Notre Dame will start to make a statement for a BCS stretch run.

$150 Fresno State/LSU OVER 49
CarolinaBlue gave a nice writeup of this in the line prediction thread. I agree that LSU should put 40+ up themselves and I personally think Fresno gets into double digits. Really like this over. May add more on it as the week goes on...

O/U on Tenn/Alabama

What about the over 41.5 on the Tenn/Ala game? Tennessee should be able to equal what Florida did and put up 4 TDs against Bama. Tennessee's defense is not the greatest this year as Air Force put up 17 on the first half and Georgia put up 24. Alabama should be able to muster at least that over the course of the whole game. This game was low scoring the last two years but the defenses of both teams are down so getting some good value here.

CFB - going to post a copy of that to the Sunday Morning Coffee thread. I don't know my SEC teams as well as I like, especially when it comes to totals.

Fondy - How do you not like Wisky this week? Purdue D is garbage, and Wisky is on a roll offensively.

Looks good there Fondy. Love the Texas and Louisville play. I see you look confident with Michigan State. I feel a little worried that John L has lost the team and can no longer motivate them. Although Northwestern is a team to get back on track against. BOL this week.

I have a few more plays I keep forgetting to post... best play this week in the wisky game is/was the over... if it went up another 4 points though I don't know if its so good anymore.

I'm still debating on wisky this week, need to dig into purdue a bit more... until last night I was leaning purdue though - but I think that may change after a glance at purdue numbers and lack of home field advantage.

purdue's defense blows donkey dong. on the other hand, they play well at home historically. but i like it up to 7 for sure.

with you already on ND, Mich St, & TX.

Is N. Illinois D capable of cover that large of a spread? I know Wolfe should be able to run all over Temple but this seems like the Kent St. or Vandy line. Seems like thats a lot of points to be giving to them.

That's a very good question albyman. I used those two teams as a guide to how I thought N. Illinois would do against Temple. My assumption is N. Illinois would handle either of those teams on a neutral field the majority of time, hence I felt that NI would be a better team to play based on covering the spread then those two were against Temple.

Purdue's offense doesn't blow. They spread you out and can be very eplosive with Lymon and Bryant at X and Y. The thing makes Wisconson a good play here is Purdue's run defense is absolutly horrid. What is Wisconson main forte? Thats right, pounding the rock. Expect PJ Hill to go for 200+ this weekend.

I'd take the spread if it was under 21, but I missed that early line. I really feel that WV will cover the spread, but I'm thinking it's quite possible for UConn to score 14 points. They score 14 points W. Virginia needs to score at least 36.5 to cover the spread. This way I can't get moosed by UConn, just can blame it on WV for not scoring.

MVP - Here's an article from yahoo on the game...

Georgia Tech considers itself one of the best defensive teams in the country. That bravado will certainly be tested on Saturday.

The No. 13 Yellow Jackets will be facing the nation's highest-scoring team when they travel to 12th-ranked Clemson for a key Atlantic Coast Conference game that could be a preview of the league's Dec. 2 championship.

No one's had much success slowing the Tigers, who are averaging a shade under 44 points per game. They've put up more than 50 on four teams, though Georgia Tech should present a stiffer challenge than Florida Atlantic (54-6), North Carolina (52-7), Louisiana Tech (51-0) and Temple (63-9).
"It's a great challenge," defensive tackle Joe Anoai said. "They have a huge offensive line, guys that can run, guys that can read blocks well and get into the secondary and make people miss.

"Then again," he added, "we do a pretty good job in stopping the run, and if we come to play, we should put our team in pretty good position to win the ballgame."

Indeed, the Yellow Jackets (5-1, 3-0 ACC) rank in the top 10 nationally -- as does Clemson -- in defending the run. They have given up an average of 72.5 yards on the ground, just behind the Tigers' figure of 69.7.

But Georgia Tech hasn't faced an offense with this many weapons.
Operating out of a spread system, Clemson (6-1, 3-1) relies heavily on James Davis (745 yards, 6.3 per carry) but has three other backs with at least 144 yards rushing. In all, the Tigers lead the ACC with 250.6 yards a game, averaging 6 yards every time they hand off the ball.

The Yellow Jackets showed they could handle a power running game, limiting Virginia to 51 yards rushing. Of course, the Cavaliers are hardly at the same level as Clemson, which has five 300-pounders across its offensive line and often adds two big tight ends to help out with their zone blocking schemes.

"They're a very physical running team," Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey said. "Their offensive line and tight ends are doing an unbelievable job of blocking. They create problems for you because they run the ball so well, and that's really helped their passing game and a new quarterback. They've got three guys (actually four) who can run the football. It's a challenge for our defense to try and stop their running game."

Anoai isn't concerned, even though the Yellow Jackets look overmatched up front. Darryl Richard, a 285-pound tackle, is the biggest starter on the entire defense.

"I like to play with speed," the 280-pound Anoai said. "Unless they are a 350-pounder, I usually don't have too much trouble playing with a bigger guy. I am pretty strong myself, but I think as a whole if we can play with speed, we can penetrate their line, we can hopefully win the line-of-scrimmage battle."

Look for Georgia Tech to use plenty of stunts and blitzes to clog up the running lanes and get heat on quarterback Will Proctor, who finally got a chance to start as a senior after spending three years behind Charlie Whitehurst.

Clemson's strong running game allows coach Tommy Bowden to pick his spots through the air and take advantage when defenses stack the line. Proctor, the ACC's highest-rated passer, has 23 completions of at least 20 yards. His favorite receiver is Chansi Stuckey (25 receptions, 331 yards).
"Stuckey's a great player," Gailey said. "He makes things happen on the reverse, on the quick screen, down the field in the middle. He makes things happen in a lot of different ways. That's why he's valuable. He's not one-dimensional. A guy like that in your offense helps your quarterback, your running game, a lot of things."

This certainly isn't the same Clemson team that lost 10-9 in Atlanta last season.

"They are epitomizing the old coaching adage of putting people in position to be successful," Gailey said. "It's been very impressive to watch them morph into what they are today from where they were."

Hey MVP. The SEC is not the easiest league for me to cap, but looking at the game Clemson should win straight up, but I wouldn't be shocked in GT won based on their defense. What I believe is that GT's defense is just a tad better then Clemsons, while Clemson has the much better offense. Factored in at home, and Clemson should win in that 4-10 point range. I don't think it's over 10 points though, and if you could have gotten GT early at +9.5 like some did that would have been a good call I think. Now that it's at 7, I would be about 60-40% with a play on GT +7... that number goes up to 75-25% at +10...

WOOPS - thought i posted this before the article... my bad
