Talk to me about Brooklyn and Utah spots peeps....

GS coming off the big win last night... traveling to high altitude.... TERRIBLE Friday away team. 4-16 Last 20 SU, 8-12 ATS

I think the jazz might have a couple players with the stomach flu though.

Toronto looks very interesting
No game tonight is there a bigger mismatch on paper. Game isn't played on paper but damn look at those Friday numbers for both teams.

Great job BAR always a pleasure reading your threads.

Right off the bat I like Memphis. Wolves coming off 4 game road trip and 2nd game back at home is the real flat spot. To make it even better it's in the same conference with only one day rest between first game and 2nd game. Memphis 3 in 4 with Bucks up next tomorrow I don't like but they are playing the best of any team in the league right now. Memphis is easily one of the top teams that can come out of the West. How this line opened with them as a dog is the only thing that concerns me, I don't pay too much attention to line movement the opening number is the most important to me at least and the oddsmakers opened them as a fav which is a huge problem. Will need some time to mull it over but I will be involved in this game somehow.

Durant can't be stopped but Livingston's length will cause him to work. Nets can throw Garnett on doubles and AK (sore calf should play nothing to do with back spasms) is the real key. Don't buy they want revenge, out of conference and only play each other twice a year. I promise you the Nets and OKC don't give two shits about each other. I couldn't believe people thought the Pacers wanted revenge to a team they only play twice a year. Revenge is overused and lazy handicapping at the pro level. Nets have had 3 days off and JKidd made them watch that last two minutes and the players came out and said that was a devastating loss and it hurt. They never talk like that. They'll come out angry and play very well. OKC coming off the Heat dominance might have them feeling like fat cats, Nets will win this game.

I checked it three times because I was shocked. The Nuggs are 1-8 ats coming off a SU loss at home. This isn't the Nuggs of old. They are so average on every level. Their home dominance is no longer there even when teams have to play back to backs. They don't push or play at near the same pace and this is a good long term plan if they ever want to be a real team come playoff time because there is no team in the league that's a bigger joke. Nuggs are 1-11 ats on Fridays, Raps on a 6 game winning streak ats on Fridays. First game of a WC swing and didn't waste energy against the Magic at home. Raps are the better team and getting points, not sure how you don't take them.

Cats always seem to play their best ball at the LAL. Some interest in ML.

Utah has to be considered.

I made a small bet on Memphis. Better rest with 2 days off on the 26th and 27. Minn has an edge on the Days but Memphis bench just much better and the loss of Pekovic who scored 19 in Minn's last win vs Memphis is serious. Refs not so good so a small side bet.

If the 2 games are multiple weeks or months apart, then I'm more amenable to this pov (but not completely - there's notable exceptions I can think of that would defy any lengthy single season time frame between games diluting such motivation).

Revenge is overused and lazy handicapping at the pro level.

When the 2 games are played inside 10 days or so, then I diverge from your opinion. What matters against less-frequently met opponents IMO is what's fresh in the memory. The most extreme example of such fresh/immediate memories (re applied to your theory of teams who play twice a year just don't give a damn) would be the instance of 2 non-conference teams playing each other in a B2B home-&-home set (a theoretical scheduling possibility, but one I struggle to recall occurring recently), where any team hammered the night before on the road I'd bet 10 times out of 10 desires for it not to be repeated in front of their home fans the following night, irrespective of rarely playing the team who just inflcited that sizable loss. Stretch out that example from being a B2B scenario to having a handful of days separate the fixtures concerned, and I see no significant difference (barring exceptional goings on within said time gap).

Indy met Phoenix 8 days after the latter inflcited their equal worse loss of the season. They certainly played the 2nd half like they didn't care to suffer another hammering, which stared them in the face when trailing by 17 at the half. NBA teams routinely mail 2nd halves in in the face of such deficits (the rare big 2nd h comebacks are the ones remembered over a season; the avalanche of mailed-in/get-by efforts that come from teams who early on accept the coming SU loss not remembered so much), but Indy fought to get back inside the final 5 mins to get within 1 pt, and had the ball at said point to take the lead. I placed a 2nd h under bet that banked on them remembering that recent loss, and IMO their 2nd h effort was predicated on not allowing a bunch of nobodies (sorry tuck) to get the best of them in a big way twice inside almost a week. I posted I expected their defense to show, and it did (only too late for themselves to get the W; price they paid for too lax a 1st h).

There's a reason I bet totals before ATS. That game is a classic example of why. Indy's effort came too late for ATS bettors, but not total ones (even FG Under bettors ended up winning, after looking all but dead at the half).

They have better rest, have won 5 in a row on the road and 9 of their last 10 and Minn is dealing with a serious injury.
What are we supposed to do?

i mean this aint supposed to be that easy right? trends and stats point to memphis though, and memphis have dominated the series. i might be missing something, its minny or no play for me. i dont like riding the public even if the stats say so.

its 3 in 4 for memphis. relatively better rest for minny.

Tell us some reasons besides the 3 in 4 to take Minnesota? (not looking for a fight - a solid discussion)

lean Atlanta tt overs - extra days off from their game being postponed, should have some fresh legs at philly.
going to be a lot of 3 point attempts..

How cool is it. Durant tonight. Lebron in tomorrow. The association did a good job with scheduling. Star studded games

will be watching tonight's games on a plane again, so will certainly have action on both espn's

Dumped the Memphis bet. Hated the Days aspect and saw too many smart people on the other side.
toronto and 2 small total plays so far
Under in Memphis 188.5
Under in Dallas 215.5
Second is a little complicated

Memphis now favored and playing good ball. Minny playing 2nd home gm off a 4 game roadie, so I will be checking BC's sticky to see how teams in that situation have fared. Keep in mind that Minnesota has been terrible to this point in close games, that being said, I would expect a move back towards the mean there.

Broklyn interests me. They have been playing good ball, and are a confident bunch right now. Okla off the Miami win. Also expect a full house in Brooklyn tonight full of A list folk due to the Super Bowl. Couple that with Brokelyn easing D will back into the fold and 3 days to practice/rest/prepare before this one, and the value looks to be there.

And the nets have the bigs to matchup with okc. KG rested is the KEY. Scared shitless about Durant but he's unstoppable right now. He'll get his.

OKC is playing at Brooklyn after 2 wins by Brooklyn at OKC. Anyone really believe this is a gentle game :puking:

Small part of Dallas under

--Under is 6-1 in Mavericks last 7 games following a ATS loss.
--Under is 7-1 in Mavericks last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Really starting to like this one

Grizz
hawks half over 106, like it a lot
tt over 54 - like it a lot
nets +6
jazz
magic 1st qtr over 49, number and gut feel

Tell us some reasons besides the 3 in 4 to take Minnesota? (not looking for a fight - a solid discussion)

that and the fact that everyone and their mommas are on the grizzlies.

there must be something here that the public sees and we dont. dont tell me it would be that easy just to take the hotter team.

Something reeks in this Denver game. I'm going to take a shot with them, got a gut feeling about this.

No they aren't. They are traditionally dog days. People get paid and gamble. Would be curious to see the ATS records on Fridays this year

NBA faves on Friday, 2013:
SU:102-42 (6.28, 70.8%)
ATS:71-72-1 (0.82, 49.7%) avg line: -5.5
