<!-- div class="bylineinfo" --><!--START STORY-->For at least two hours Tuesday night into this morning, Penn State Police investigated a Nittany Apartments residence that, according to an online Penn State directory, is inhabited by multiple football players.
Penn State Police Sgt. Brian Bittner said police were investigating "an incident." He would not comment further.
Police entered apartment 5204 late last night for unknown reasons. According to the directory, defensive end Maurice Evans, cornerback A.J. Wallace and defensive tackle Abe Koroma live in apartment 5204.
It was not immediately clear if any other people live in the apartment.
At least four Penn State Police vehicles were at the scene -- a Special Response Unit, two cruisers and an SUV.
State College Police said Tuesday night they did not know anything about the incident.
Various people milled about the scene around 11 p.m., though the crowd had thinned to about five or six by 1 a.m. this morning.
Many people outside declined comment.
University spokesman Bill Mahon said he did not know anything about the incident when reached by phone late Tuesday night.
Neither Sports Information Director Jeff Nelson nor Football Communications and Branding Director Guido D'Elia could be immediately reached for comment late Tuesday night.
At one point, police took photos inside apartment 5204.
At 1 a.m., police were still inside the apartment. By1:15 a.m., the Special Response Unit had left.
Police would not say what time they initially entered the apartment.
At about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, a woman taped notebook paper over apartment 5204's number. The curtains were also closed in apartment 5204.
Police were seen carrying a cardboard box with a bag or envelope inside. Police took the box inside apartment 5204.
At about 1:30 a.m. today, four police officers left the apartment, one carrying two paper bags and another carrying a cardboard box.
At least one member of Residence Life was inside the apartment. At about 1:30 a.m., he left with another man, the two of them carrying a speaker, a speaker stand and two duffel bags. They then re-entered the apartment and carried out two more bags and two hard cases.
The Residence Life official declined to comment.
Evans was named a preseason All-American for Penn State and started last week against Coastal Carolina. He recorded two tackles in that game.
Koroma -- another defensive starter -- also had two tackles, while Wallace recorded two tackles playing cornerback and also returned a kickoff for 35 yards last week.

Again, may be nothing as nothing has been reported adn it happened early this morning...but it could be...esp w/ PSU's issues the last couple of years.

Pure speculation from audibles:

From Audibles:
"It's Marijuana. My roommate is on the Daily Collegian and he gets the daily police report. They smelled it and searched the apartment, found a small amount. We'll see what happens..."

University Police Log excerpt

Drug Law Violation

At 2219 hours, as the result of investigating a report of loud music in the Nittany Apartments complex, the odor of burning marijuana was detected coming from inside of one of the buildings. The residents of the apartment declined a consent search and a search warrant was applied for and executed on the residence. The search yielded a small amount of marijuana. Charges to be filed.

<H4>Apartment Search Update

<HR>This is what we're getting on the apartment search so far:

Police arrived at the apartment in question following complaints of loud music. They knocked, but the people who lived there would not let them in. Police had reason to believe illegal activity may be going on inside. Apparently something they smelled.

Police secured a search warrant. They searched the apartment and took several items. Those items will not be revealed for 48 hours (not sure if that is protocol or what).

Police are indicating to local media types that charges are pending. But they will not say what charges or against whom.

Stay tuned.

It doesn't sound too bad but I don't know how JoePa will handle it considering the last year...shit we don't even know who's involved..

News reports about police converging on an apartment shared by three Penn State football players turned out to be based on a pretty routine incident — police breaking up a loud party.

Penn State police Lt. Bill Moerschbacher said police did find and seize a small amount of marijuana from the residence, but he said that a “Special Response Unit” truck was at the scene only because that’s the vehicle police happened to be driving last night.

Moerschbacher said police received a complaint about a loud party at Nittany Apartments number 5204 about 8 p.m.

According to Penn State’s online directory, football players Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma reside at that apartment.

When police arrived, they saw a small amount of marijuana, Moerschbacher said. Police got a search warrant from District Judge Carmine Prestia and seized several related items from the apartment, Moerschbacher said.

Moerschbacher said he could not comment on any suspects, but there was no arrest made last night. Any citations filed will likely be sent through the mail, he said.

Police said a small amount of marijuana was found Tuesday night in a Nittany Apartments residence whose most current residents, according to university housing records, are football players AJ Wallace, Andrew Quarless, Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma.
A "small amount" of marijuana was found in apartment 5204 after police responded last night to a report of loud music, Penn State Police Lt. Bill Moerschbacher said this morning.
Drug law charges will be filed soon, Moerschbacher said, adding police could not specifically say who might be charged in connection with the incident. He said police are still investigating to determine who had possession of the marijuana.
Exactly what charges will be filed is hard to say at this point, Moerschbacher said.
Evans, Wallace, Quarless and Koroma have not been charged with any crime, Moerschbacher said.
Police were called shortly after 8 p.m. last night and noticed an obvious smell of marijuana permeating the residence, Moerschbacher said.
When police asked to search the residence because of the smell, residents declined, and police obtained a search warrant for the apartment, Moerschbacher said. District Judge Carmine Prestia authorized the search at 10:59 p.m. Tuesday, according to the search warrant.
When police arrived at the residence, an officer spoke with Aristides A. Nova (senior-engineering), who told police he does not reside in the residence and was only staying there temporarily, according to the warrant.
Upon entering the residence, Moerschbacher said there were a number of people inside, some residents of the apartment, some non-residents.
Wallace told police he had been staying at his girlfriend's residence and Nova had been staying in his room while he was gone, according to the warrant.
Police could not provide details on the exact amount of marijuana found because it had yet to be officially tested, Moerschbacher said.
In a teleconference this morning, Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark said he was "shocked" when he found out about the incident.
"I don't even know what happened," he said. "All I know is police was out at someone's apartment. I really don't know why. I really don't know what's going on right now. I have to look into it to see what's going on right now."
Cornerback Lydell Sargeant said he just found out about the incident this morning and did not know anything about it.
In response to the incident, Penn State sports information director Jeff Nelson said, "We're looking into it."

Four Nittany Lions were not allowed on the field Wednesday in the wake of apartment search. But sources indicate nobody has been dismissed from the program.
</TD></TR><TR><TD colSpan=3>
Penn State football players Maurice Evans, Abe Koroma, Andrew Quarless and A.J. Wallace were held out of practice Wednesday, according to multiple sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Though all four players have been mentioned in published reports as being residents of an on-campus apartment where police found a “small amount” of marijuana in a search Tuesday night, none had been charged with any crime at the time of this writing.
The same sources said each player's equipment remained in his locker in the Lasch Football Building as of Wednesday night.
One source said head coach Joe Paterno was taking “a wait-and-see” approach on the apartment search matter but would not elaborate further.
Penn State's primary football spokesmen could not be reached for comment.
Evans and Koroma are both starters on Penn State's defensive line, the former an All-America candidate at end and the latter a key figure at the depleted tackle positions.
Wallace is a cornerback who was slowed in the preseason by a pulled hamstring. He saw limited action in the season-opening win over Coastal Carolina last weekend but is expected to be a starter when completely healthy.
Quarless has had several brushes with the law during his time at Penn State and was suspended from the program for the spring semester. He is listed as the team's second-string tight end. The Nittany Lions face Oregon State at Beaver Stadium Saturday. -30-

Burned by taking the early line...hopefully they appeal and can play this week or they get the "you're not playing the 1Q" lecture.

they'll be fine, they were just medicating themselves after last week blowout:bong:

So are they out now?

Nothing concrete anywhere....insider on FOS says all four were tested and then the old man will make some decisions...

I'd be surprised if they play with all the issues they've had the last year....hopefully can find more tomorrow.

Joe Pa will say "Just kids being kids" type of bullshit. That interview he did on ESPN was one of the worst things ever. I totally lost respect for him after that bullshit

Maybe signal, but I doubt it at this point...he's instituted a zero tolerance policy now supposedly..we'll see if that means shit....this is third drug/alcohol offense for Quarless...so we'll see how that goes..

Remember the stance they took w/ Austin Scott last year...he was booted before charges were even filed..

I'd be surprised if they escaped w/out a suspension...we'll see what the tests say..

I know there is a lot of internal disention w/in the staff as well...Jay doesn't get along w/ the coaches....Joe sticks up for him...most are fed up w/ some of the kids that Larry Sr is bringing in supposedly etc...Bradley just puts up w/ it assuming the job is his...which may or may not be the case w/ Schiano..

Honestly how hard is it to stay out of trouble.

I'm sorry but loud music and marijuana smoke can be found in just about any dorm room across any campus in america. hate the way the media and the self-righteous public makes kids out to be thugs for smoking a little bit of weed.

And it's illegal, and no matter how you want to spin this, these players should have been smart enough to know the recent history with the program, recognize the situation, and accept that--right or wrong--they are being scrutinized every day in everything they do and will be held to a higher standard than the average student.

I hate seeing kids piss this experience away when there are so many out there that would have given anything just for the opportunity.

I'm hearing rumors that etg was in the apt with the PSU players. Didn't he mention something about going big on Oregon St this weekend?

Another thing we want to look at is it looks like shitty weather for the game this week. I'm going to buy probably 2/3 of my bet off on Penn State here later this afternoon.

If you play football at a major college such as Penn State, then chances are you get a free education, free meals, and are treated somewhat like a celebrity for approximately 4 years of your life. You are therefore held to a higher level of responsibility whether you like it or not. If you don't like it, pay your own way, just be a student, and you then can play your music loud and smoke all the weed in Pennsylvania and probably never get caught, and if you do, the only people that know about it are the people you were with, and probably your parents. But I do not feel sorry for some fools that get everything handed to them on account of having a God-given talent, such as football, and cannot accept the fact that they are held at a higher standard.

Thursday Headlinin': Nittany Lions fight on, get their light on

By Matt Hinton

ept_sports_ncaaf_experts-259503843-1220532745.jpg
Rival message boards certain to handle misdemeanor with boys-will-be-boys restraint. The Doc is shocked -- shocked! -- that Penn State players A.J. Wallace, Andrew Quarless, Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma would be anywhere in the vicinity of a soireé that included a "small amount" of the demon weed, much less host such lawlessness in their on-campus apartment. Nevertheless, a little routine blazin' leaves all four Lions facing "drug charges," another link in the chain of much more serious and extremely high profile legal problems for PSU over the last two years.
Evans is the star of the group, an All-Big Ten sack master who'll be missed if suspended, but for Quarless (right), especially, already teetering on the brink after a DUI arrest in March, his days as a Lion are probably over -- although if Joe Paterno is consistent in his attitude toward, say, his players' breaking fellow students' faces, he'll say something like, "It was a little chronic. They're kids, they toke sometimes. Didn't you ever roll a fatty when you were a kid? Come on." Which is true this time, actually. Except in court.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

"boys will be boys restraint"

so does that mean theyll play this weekend?

fuck the weather. shit has really been worrying me this week.....

the card wasnt even that great and the weather has made me feel even worse about it.

happy this socar game is tonight and wont be affected, but i worry about my wake and PSU wagers. may buy out of one as well, although probably not wake because i bought the hook in that one and dont want to swallow too much juice

<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>Just when the Nittany Lions thought they were out of woods regarding off-field issues, more drama surfaced this week. But how are the players and coaches reacting?

</TD></TR><TR><TD colSpan=3>
The most recent off-field incidents at Penn State have caused three players to be suspended for this week's game against Oregon State and another to be kicked off the team entirely.
On his weekly call-in show Thursday, head coach Joe Paterno said defensive end Maurice Evans, defensive tackle Abe Koroma and tight end Andrew Quarless will not suit up against the Beavers. This after police found a "small amount" of marijuana during a search of their on-campus apartment. (As an aside, no charges had been filed as of this writing).
Meanwhile, defensive back Willie Harriott has been dismissed from the team, according to the coach. Sources tell us Harriott had an alcohol-related incident this week.
One source said Paterno was so angry over the latest news that, in a meeting with his assistants, he slammed his fist on the table and broke his watch.
"Joe is between being fed up and pissed off," an observer told us. "Earlier [Thursday], he seemed almost at loss. But in the squad meeting [Thursday afternoon], he was flat out pissed."
Another observer said, "All of this has caused a lot of unnecessary tension. This is the last thing we need. Oregon State is no push-over. Being short key players is going to make it that much more difficult."

During that squad meeting, Paterno said he was not clear on all of the details with the marijuana inciden, but "he's suspending [those involved] for getting themselves into the situation." As another observer explained, "He basically said, 'I can't believe how some of you guys are so stupid to blow these opportunities you have.'"
Defensive back A.J. Wallace, another resident of the apartment in question, was practicing Thursday, seeing first- and second-team reps at cornerback. On his radio show, Paterno said Wallace "was not part" of whatever allegedly happened at the apartment.
"Yeah, A.J. drilled today," an observer said. "He was the only one of the four [from the apartment] to see practice reps."
As of this report there had been no player-only meetings called and no players had stepped forward to address the team regarding the recent issues. "In fairness to [the captains], they are hours away from kickoff and seem to be taking the wait-and-see approach from Paterno," one obsserver said. Another added: "They have to just get ready for the game and prepare without these idiots. The guys are in game mode. I bet this all gets addressed by early next week.

Total Bullshit. Everything handed to them...what a joke.

No disrespect intended to you, horses; that's just always something I've always felt strongly about. :shake:

YOu guys are missing the point here. The real moral of this story is:

When you smoke pot, don't turn the music up so loud that it causes your neighbors to call the police?

No disrespect intended to you, horses; that's just always something I've always felt strongly about. :shake:

No worries TopDaddy...I can appreciate that.

I bet PSU -16.5 on Wed. before this shit storm. It went to 14.5 overnight last night, and is currently at 15.5. Should I:

a. Buy out at 16 for 20 cents and hope I don't push;
b. Buy out at 16.5 for 30 cents and drink a little juice; or
c. Let it ride.

I'm leaning option a., but look forward to some opinions/advice/suggestions.

Im being paid 20 dollars to answer this....

My suggestion, take OSU because there is no way these suckers win by 2 TD's. You fella's forget you are dealing with JoePa. Ive grown up around this for years, ive heard the bitching about the football program for years now.

Anyway if you wanna stick with the bet, just let it ride.
