Fondybadger's - Thursday Night College Football

Last night was very disappointing. Based on the statistics and what I read on ULL and FAU I felt I had a very good read on the game. FAU turned the ball over 5 times compared to once for ULL. ULL used the running game to control the clock and field position. Offensive line injuries/changes for FAU caused some problems with the blocking schemes. About the only thing I didn't realize is Marty ball is used by ULL and they were conservative as could be on offense. They moved the ball down the field, got to about mid field and ran in 3 times and punted. Over and Over again. I had a chance to cover with about 6 minutes left, but a solid kicker missed a 31 yard field goal that would have put ULL up by 9. I'd like to say I was on the right side with ULL, but if that was the right sie it would have cashed, so I guess I was on the wrong side last night. Time to change that tonight.

Thursday Night Information

$200 Central Michigan -7 (local)
$75 BG/CMU 1H under 24.5 +101 (pinny)
Bowling Green is 4-3 (3-1) on the season. They lost to Wisconsin by 21, to Kent State by 35 and to Ohio State by 31. Two narrow wins at home over Buffalo (48-40 3OT) and Eastern Michigan (24-21 at home), two of the worst programs in Division I, suggest that Bowling Green has had their difficulities. Some people would argue that BG had respectable losses at Ohio State and Wisconsin. I on the other hand would argue that the final scores didn't dictate who controlled the games. BG one big win is over Ohio University. BG's solid record is a tad misleading when you consider who the Falcons have defeated. Buffalo, Florida International, Ohio and Eastern Michigan are a combined 5-21. And OU is responsible for four of those wins. Central Michigan is 4-3 (4-0 conference) on the season. They lost at home against Boston College by 7, lost at Michigan by 24, and at Kentucky by 9. Both teams have played and beaten Eastern Michigan this season. Central Michigan won by 7 on the road, while Bowling Green won by 3 at home. CMU is in the top have offensively and defensively of teams in the MAC, while BG is in the bottom half. BG has some injury concerns along the defensive front 4, Diyral Briggs and Brad Williams, along with their starting TE is all questionable tonight. I feel that CMU is one of the teams to beat this season in the MAC while Bowling Green has been fortunate to sport the record they currently have. CMU wins the game tonight by 10-14 points.

I'll have plays and writeups on the other two games shortly.

$125 North Carolina +7 (local)
$225 UNC/Virginia under 42 -101 (pinny)
North Carolina (1-5) will arrive at Scott Stadium on a three-game losing streak. The Tar Heels have been outscored 214-105 and have lost 12 straight at Virginia since 1981. The Cavaliers (2-5) are coming off a game in which they led 20-0 at halftime, blew the lead in a 28-26 loss to Maryland and came away upbeat because they actually played well. The game will be the 111th meeting between the schools, including every year since 1919, making it the fourth-oldest rivalry in the nation. It also comes a year after one of the ugliest games in the series, the Tar Heels' 7-5 home victory. The Tar Heels, so far, have been consistently weak on offense and porous on defense, scoring just 17.5 points per game while allowing an average of 35.7. UNC ranks 116th in turnover margin at minus 1.33, 115th in scoring defense, 113th in rushing defense (207.8) and 100th in total defense (392). Virginia's running game is pathetic, averaging 92 yards per game. Virginia has lost four of five, winning only against Duke. With two teams that are struggling to identify themselves and get going offensively, the dog and under look like a real good combination to me. It is real hard to back such a crappy UNC team here, but they should play things close and keep the game low scoring.

I have been losing big the last two nights. I need to get a grip. Teams running the ball every down aren't going to cut it. Why I am betting on these teams is another question. I am such a dumbass.
