Minnesota Vikings vs. Miami Dolphins

Handicapper Analysis

This season, Miami's pass defense has been one of the worst.

It ranks, for example, 29that limiting the opponent's passer rating.

Byron Jones' absence doesn't help, but the Dolphin pass defense is struggling even when Xavien Howard is healthy.

As long as Kirk Cousins isn't playing in the primetime slot, he's in great shape.

He's helped Justin Jefferson amass 140 receiving yards in two straight games.

For Miami, Skylar Thompson will start again because both Tue and Teddy Bridgewater are unfit to play.

The Dolphins lack the weaponry to keep pace with the Viking offense.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

Handicapper Analysis

Kyler Murray is supposed to be better than he is.

He's having the worst season of his career, in terms of passer rating, as he's suffering without having superstar DeAndre Hopkins to throw to.

The Cardinals also miss their superstar on defense, the now departed Chandler Jones.

Without him, the Cards have less of a pass rush, and, accordingly, rank 21stin pass defense.

For Seattle, Geno Smith with the help of two high-caliber wide receivers has been carving up even the NFL's better pass defenses as he enjoys the best season of his career.

Arizona lacks the weapons to keep pace with Seattle.

Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Handicapper Analysis

When these two teams last played, Buffalo employed a horrible strategy.

The Bills were so concerned with Patrick Mahomes' deep ball ability that they positioned their defensive backs in a way that allowed Mahomes to thrive with shorter passes.

But the Bills need have no such concern this year as Mahomes ranks 12 spots lower than he did last season in deep ball attempts per game.

Matt Milano will be key for Buffalo.

Travis Kelce is Mahomes' best receiving option and Milano thrives at covering tight ends -- Mark Andrews, for example, had by far his worst output of the season against the Bills.

Defensively, Kansas City has one of the lowest-ranked pass defenses, allowing even statues like Derek Carr to have their best game of the season against it.

Buffalo will get revenge in this game.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts

Handicapper Analysis

Jacksonville's chances in this game suffer from two key trends.

One, the Jaguars haven't beaten a division rival on the road since 2017.

Two, the Jags have lost four straight games in Indianapolis.

While they won their first meeting against the Colts, Indianapolis missed its top two wide receivers.

Matt Ryan will have more time to find them against a Jaguar pass rush that has largely no-showed away from home.

Defensively, the Colts have one of the best cornerbacks and a defense that turned the corner by limiting Denver's short-passing game.

Jacksonville's results hinge on Trevor Lawrence's performance, and he will flounder against the Colts' improved pass defense.

New York Jets vs. Green Bay Packers

Handicapper Analysis

Offensively, New York is in an excellent spot because the opposing team total "over" nearly always hits against a team coming off a trip to London.

Green Bay could have had a bye week this season but foolishly elected not to.

While the Packers' already repeatedly poor pass defense will give New York plenty of scoring opportunities, Green Bay will keep pace.

Aaron Rodgers has made up for having poor wide receivers when he is able to use play-action.

Crucially, Aaron Jones has been superb for Green Bay, and running backs repeatedly have their best games against New York.

His success will breed play-action opportunities for Rodgers.

Context

Derek Carr had 124 yards through 3.5 quarters (this was his 4th best game of the season yardage wise)19-30 241 yards. Almost 100 of them on 2 plays. If that’s his best game (and I understand the old timey Qb rating says it was) that’s awful.

Tom Brady had 215 yards down 38-17 before Chiefs backed off

Matt Ryan sucked vs Kc

Herbert played pretty well. 93 of his yards down a TD or more in the last 6 mins of the 4th

Kyler didn’t have 200 yards

Chiefs get Trent McDuffie back this week if all goes well.
