Faith in Bortles

That all well and good if coach learns to trust him. That afc championship really wasn't on him, Marone took the ball out of his hands and didn't give bortles a chance to win it.

The plan for the whole season was to not let Bortles win our games. There's a huge trend out there about Jags results when Bortles gets picked off or when he throws 30+ passes in a game which speaks for itself. Stop using hindsight. Jags never wanted Bortles to have to win games, surely hard for them to just scrap a season-long game plan with insight into the future. Myles Jack was going to make it 27-10 and put it out of reach, if the lead wasn't already big without the BS PI call at the end, or of it the Jags' false start call was blown dead so that Jags didn't have to show Pats their best play. NFL is a (falling) business and small market teams get short end of the stick that's it.

Not using hindsight, I was on jags and was screaming all game to let bortles win or lose it. Stop blaming refs when the coaching staff lost that game. If it wasn't for him they wouldn't have even been in that game as he beat steelers in a game the defense got lit up. He played incredibly well in the 1st half of the afc championship and pussy coaches decided to take any chance of winning away the moment they had him take a knee with almost a full minute and timeouts remaining and got even more pathetically conservative in 2nd half. It makes no sense to keep him as your qb in this league if you not willing to trust him enough to stay aggressive, you could get half the backups in this league at fraction of price to take knees and hand it off. Guy was playing incredibly well and they took the ball out of his hands against arguably the best qb of all time.

Yea and you were wrong to scream that, Jags don’t want to rely on Bortles thats been their mentality all season. His performance is overrated. Bortles vs Steelers reminds me of Barrett vs Penn State. Wide open receivers, anyone could have threaded Steelers that day. It was all about effective playaction thanks to good run game and using creative formations. Bortles also benefits from good pass protection. Quit making him out to be Matt Ryan. Jags‘ used up all their creativity to give team a fighting chance with late lead. Refs kept Pats in it and effectively gave them the game by being responsible for at least 14 points! Seven scored for Pats seven not scored for Jags. Pats got 14 free points and you want Jags to have become the Atlanta Falcons‘ pass attack.

Im glad they took that knee! With only a minute left it would have made no sense for Pats to expect run so playaction wouldn‘t have worked. No reason to trust Bortles in drop back mode and risk giving Tom another chance. Im glad Bortles can hit open receivers (unlike vs Buffalo) and run now that‘s really all he needs to do but he‘s not a high-caliber quarterback until he proves it
