Unfortunately during a long past clean-up I got rid of some stuff I didn't intend to throwout, amongst which were a decent amount of my ESPN Sunday nighter stat sheets going back a number of seasons. So the stats below refer only to all the games played since the start of the 05 season.

- All these stats are based on opening lines

- All stats are up-to-date



ESPN Sunday Night stats (from '05 onwards)


Straight-Up Results

Home Favs ............. 41-33
Home Dogs ............. 12-14
Home Pick'ems .......... 0-2


Run-Line Results

Home Favs (-1.5) .... 29-45
Home Dogs (+1.5) ... 16-10

Home Favs on the run-line are generally spelt d-e-a-t-h for ESPN Sunday nighters. Road Favs, on the other hand, have fared much better in comparison.


Margin results

Games decided by 1 run ....... 29

More often than not these games simply arent close at the end.

There's a slight edge to Road team winners producing more Overs than their Home team winning counterparts.

Total results are clearly tied to final margins. The closer the contest, the fewer the runs.

Games which involve teams coming back to win from an early deficit are more likely (& logically, naturally) to involve fewer runs being scored than in games where the 1st scoring team kicks on.

Last year sunday night baseball was definitely money fading the public with some mid to high-range +150 to +200 dogs. Most of them on the road too.


Hope that trend continues this year.

The Question was do you keep a spreadsheet of all these stats.

Like Home line Away Line etc.

I want to get my hands on it. That is the reason why I am asking then I can just keep it up to date. I like that Idea that is why I am asking.

No, I dont. What I do keep is a physical sheet of paper ruled up to record various aspects of game results (I don't however track lines, I have symbol notations to record Fav/Dog - U/O - runline results).

Since '05, Dogs are 14-12 SU & 18-8 on the runline when the Fav covered the runline the previous Sunday nighter (which is what the Mets did on 6/1).

Instances of repetitive RL covers by the Fav for ESPN Sun niters aren't common - 5 instances of consecutive covers and just 1 instance of a triple cover thru 86 games.
