I don't know. I thought 13 was high, considering we have no idea what our offensive personnel will look like at several positions. I know nothing of what Wisconsin returns, but traditionally, a one dimensional offense, especially a running one, does not do well against us. And I expect our defense to be pretty stout next year.

Well I see many of the same problems that SCar had in 2014 being present in 2015 with a worse offense.

At QB, Connor Mitch will start the year and is a rs-soph with no game experience. Up until this spring practice started, the people reporting on the team were saying he hasn't shown he would be ready yet. Now, 3 days in to spring practice in shorts and t'shirts they are singing his praises but lets be real here, any young inexperienced QB is going to make a decent amount of mistakes in their first season at this level. I will believe it when I see it with him. Behind him is a walk-on, a 2* qb, and an incoming frosh. In front of the QB is an OL that lost 2 starters on the left side of the line, returning Senior RT Brandon Shell had his second shoulder labrum surgery and is out all spring, Sr. OL Mike Matulis hasn't been healthy the last 3 seasons and is now coming off an ACL tear. The OL last year did not play up to expectations and it had experience and size, so the 2015 offense will be worse without question. What I expect to see is a lot of teams stacking the box, stopping the run, forcing USC in to 3rd and longs with an inexperienced QB and a WR core that lacks any real go to WR. Spurrier abandons the run all to often and although the last place you want to place your QB and weak OL is against a D pinning their ears back, I expect plenty of that.

The 2014 defense was the absolute worst defense I ever watched in my 12 years of being a 'Cock. JUCO DE Marquevis Lewis is a one-and-done type talent but the problem he will find is that no matter how good you are, a double team every play will take you away. SCar has no where near the talent on the DL that they had '11-'13. The DE position is very weak again outside of Lewis. The DT position has big bodies but that is all they are as none of them can do more than eat space. Now the defense has to over compensate to get pressure to the QB and it goes downhill from there.

LB is the strongest position on the defense and with the big bodies at DT, it may be tough to run up the middle on SCar but why do that when......

You can just throw the ball wherever you want whenever you want.

The secondary is a mess, the players at safety are terrible and the CBs are still young and a season or 2 away from where they need to be.

SCar made a change bringing in Bears DB coach John Hoke and he will run the defense, though him and Lorenzo Ward share the title of D-Coordinator, it is his defense. He isn't going to change much, but I'm expecting to see more true looks with 3 real LB's and less of the 4-2-5 with the SPUR LB. The SPUR position is extremely important to the 4-2-5 defense and when you don't have a SPUR that can do the duties necessary for the position you are in trouble.

One interesting note, Kansas safety, Issiah Johnson is graduating in May and he is looking to transfer to play immediately for his last season. SCar is a school he is visiting and if he chose the 'Cocks he would immediately start on defense at safety which would tremendously help a very poor secondary but the overall lack of talent on the DL will not get it done. I believe in his college highlight tape he made more plays in 2 seasons than every player on the USC roster at DB in their careers combined.

They will be worse on offense and marginally better on defense = bottom 5-6 of SEC.

That game in South Bend may be ugly. It's jaw-dropping, but for the 6th straight season Texas is going to be average / below average at QB. We're stuck upon relying on a QB not to lose games, instead of winning them. Still not sure if it will be Swoopes of Jerrod Heard under center, but neither is going to do much. OL will be better, but there's not a whole helluva lot on that unit overall. And we took some big hits on defense. Great freshmen coming in but (sans Malik Jefferson), they're not going to be contributing heavily immediately out of the gate.

I know what ND has coming back, and it's alot. Texas is looking at a 7-5 or 6-6 season, for good reason. 4+ months out, this looks like a 31-10 type game.

I wouldn't make LSU the fave, but State is going to take a step back in the trenches and the front 7. I was surprised at how physically superior they were to LSU on both lines of scrimmage last year. I don't think that will be the case this year.

I really like LSU in this game. MSU embarrassed LSU last year in Baton Rouge. This game has been circled and as others have mentioned expect State to take a step back this year.

At first glance I like Texas to cover. They will continue to play great defense but the concerns with offense are legit.

ETG is dead on about South Carolina. I don't see how they are favored by over a TD. Spurrier is a great coach but there are lots of holes in that roster.

Already got tickets for me and my son to see the Heels opener at BofA Stadium as it should be a great atmosphere in uptown Charlotte that evening. I will already go on record and say that I will probably have a play on the Heels if the opening line is generous enough as I actually see us winning SU in a close one between 3-4 either way at the most. Can't wait!

FWIW, might be worth grabbing these now...

North Carolina +6.5 and ML +190 both horrible numbers, can go for 3+ point middle if you take the points or easy scalp if you play the ML
Not nearly as atrocious as the +20.5 it was last night but Tulane +17.5 is still a really really bad number
Minnesota +17.5 and Virginia Tech +18.5 both very inflated if you can stomach betting either of them
Based on what Steele thinks of Washington, Boise will probably end up laying a few more than 10.5
Texas +13.5, Arizona St +4.5, Wisconsin +13.5, Louisville +12.5 all a few points too high as well
