First thoughts:

Its similar to last year's in that all the tough games appear to be later in the year and it seems imperative to get off to a good start...of course we all know how that worked last year...

I dont like the bye being so early

First home games a monday nighter? Should be INSANE down the Linc

Dont like having to go on the road at Dallas and at New Orleans weeks 15 and 16...those should be pivotal games

Best case scenario - theyre 3 and 1 at the bye, then go on a 6 game winning streak, then lose 3 of 6 to finish 12 and 4

Worst case scenario - theyre 2 and 2 at the bye, go 3 and 3 over the next 6, then lose 4 of 6 to finish 7 and 9

No way they lose to the Jets coming off a bye...and if somehow they do, no chance they lose to chicago at home coming off a loss

I don't mind it.

It starts great, that Giants game will be tough, but you've got to go into the bye 3-1 at worst.

That middle's the tough part where they come out of the break and bounce from tough places to go on the road and division games.

But with who they're playing this could have been a lot worse.

Yeah, I have trouble seeing them lose to the Jets coming out of that bye. I also don't really fear Chicago the next week.

They'll probably drop that Miami game, though as their annual, 'you lost at home--to who?' game.

Yeha, they seem to always get blasted by one AFC team at home...much better chance its Miami than Buffalo...

It's one of the great mysteries of life. How the Eagles, every year, find a way to lose a home game to a bad AFC team.

Last year they actually did it twice.

Buffalo doesn't worry me as much because Losman is a trainwreck and they pretty much threw away their running game. Miami, though, they'll just hand the ball off all day and we'll all want to throw things through the TV.

Or, in the case of those actually there, throw things onto the field.

Kinda sucks to have an early bye. Whats the status on McNabbs rehab? I'm hearing he might be out till the bye week.

I'm hearing he might be out till the bye week.

What Dallas propaganda machine told you that? Damn that Jerry Jones all to hell.

Everything I've heard is that he's on schedule to be back for opening day. I've seen him on the NFL Network a couple of times and he's basically said that every time.

week 3 is a sandwich spot. play on lions?

eagles make a statement to the NFc that they are contenders vs teh bears in week 7 at home.

week 9 a lookahead spot. play on fins?

this schedule is brutal imo.

With who's on the schedule, Brewer, I'm fine with this. At no point do they have to criss-cross the country, they don't have anything like that three game stretch of away road games late in the year like they had last season.

It feels balanced to me.

Here's why I wait on 'capping schedules until late in preseason.

The Eagles need to answer the following questions.

1. Is Donovan healthy? If not, how many games will he miss?

2. Is Kearse back?

3. Whether he is or isn't, how will they run the D-line rotation now fitting in Bunkley and Reagor?

4. Who's starting at LB? Some sort of combination of Spikes, Trotter, D. Jones, and Gaither you with think, but what about Gogong?

5. How will Kevin Curtis fit in, will he replace Stallworth or will he be a number two/number three with one of the other guys, Baskett, Lewis, or Brown stepping in for the number one?

There are other little questions, too, who will they draft--will they supplement their secondary. Can Jeremy Bloom not only make the team but actually help the return game. Will Buck get carries this year and, if McNabb comes back ready, will they resist the temptation to be unbalanced with run vs. pass.

But those are all little things, it's the big stuff a lot of which should shake out in preseason.

Joe, that is why I like the bye week so early. It's sort of a mini-preseason. We get to see how everyone fits in and how every1 plays for 4 games (3 cupcake games), then Reid gets a full week to evaluate where everyone is to fully get ready/prepared for the real season which begins Oct 14.

I agree, Believe.

Although it does turn the period from the bye week to the end of the year into a marathon.

I generally like the bye week about week six. It helps you get over some injuries from early in the year, but doesn't stop a run like you could get on around week eight or so.

Apparently the early vegas o/u is 8.5 wins

Erroneous!!!!!!!!!

They gotta get 9, right? I mean thats a pretty good bet, right?

Its gotta because of Mcnabbs question marks????

I agree smoke dawg, i thought it would of been around 9.5 at least. Maybe eagles won't be as good as we all thought.

Well, the off-shores don't usually put up season totals for some time so we'll see where they net out, but right now I'd be hard pressed not to bet the over on an 8.5 if I saw it.

I think I'd also need to see the other NFC EAST teams' odds before betting Philly. I only see them losing 1 game in the division: AT DALLAS. Maybe Vegas feels the EAST will be better.

It's very early to even get into individual wins and losses, who really knows what the Skins are going to come up with this year.

But one game I've already written off is the Dallas game in Dallas. I think the Eagles get killed there. As we get closer I may back off that somewhat, and without Parcells there I don't think it will be as bad as it would have been had he stayed, but right now I've got that as a double digit loss.

The only thing that can change that is Wade Phillips demonstrating complete and utter ineptitude with the Cowboys--which is entirely possible.
