Divisional Round M*A*S*H Report: Cowboys Among Teams That May Miss Pass-Catchers

Colts vs Chiefs:

Safety Eric Berry and wide receiver Sammy Watkins are the big question marks for Kansas City. Berry has been dealing with heal problems throughout the year. He first played in Week 15 against the Chargers and then played in Week 16 against Seattle and he mustered 11 tackles in both games. He lasted only the first half against the Chargers, during which L.A. only managed seven points. When Barry sat out the second half, the Chargers scored 22 points in order to win 29-28.

After the game against Seattle, Berry aggravated his heel injury and did not play in the regular season finale. He had practiced on a limited basis, but has not been able to practice in the second half of this week. The Chiefs are preparing to play without him. Berry had turned down surgery in order to play this season. But really, it seems like he should have elected to have surgery so that he could be healthy next season. Sammy Watkins is a bit more hopeful. He reportedly practiced well on Thursday and is listed as ‚questionable“ with a foot injury.

The Colts will definitely miss some depth at wide receiver. Ryan Grant has been ruled „out“ with a toe injury. As has become customary, star receiver T.Y. Hilton did not practice on Thursday. But he’s clearly expected to play.

Cowboys vs Rams

Wide receiver Allen Hurns, who was carted off during Dallas’ victory against Seattle, will not play. Regarding more urgent news, fellow receiver Cole Beasley could not practice all week due to an ankle injury. Based on receptions and yards per game, he is Dallas’ second-most important receiver. He’s listed as „questionable.“ Likewise, tight end Blake Jarwin, also a meaningful pass-catcher, is listed as „questionable“ with ankle problems. Also, starting guard Xavier Su’a-Filo and safety Darian Thompson have been limited in practice all week and are listed as ‚questionable.‘

For the Rams, superstar Todd Gurley was a big injury headline. But he practiced in full on Thursday and has been cleared from the injury report.

Chargers vs Patriots

For L.A., tight end Hunter Henry tore his ACL in May and hasn’t played all year. Last year, he caught 63 passes for 579 yards and his return would certainly provide a boost to L.A.’s offense. He is listed as „questionable.“ Moreover, a pair of backup defenders in cornerback Brandon Facyson and linebacker Kyle Wilson are listed as „questionable“ with concussions. Most importantly, starting running back Melvin Gordon is not listed on the injury report.

Eagles vs Saints

For the Eagles, defensive end Michael Bennett continues to be dinged up with a foot injury. Also, left tackle Jason Peters is still dealing with his quadriceps. Both are listed as „questionable,“ but are definitely expected to play. Bennett, who accrued nine sacks during the regular season, and fellow veteran Peters, are important to Philly’s chances to win. After Friday’s practice, the Eagles confirmed that cornerback Sidney Jones could return from a hamstring injury that he suffered in Week 14 against Dallas. He could add helpful depth to Philadelphia’s secondary with his starting experience. Wide receiver Mike Wallace, also listed as „questionable,“ could give a boost to Philly’s pass attack. He has missed almost the entire season with an ankle injury.

The Saints cleared a number of players from the injury report on Friday. Backup receiver Simmie Cobbs, though, has been ruled out with a knee injury.
