Alright, I am slowly starting to get back into the game myself...
I caught some of the semi-final IN-Season tournament and the action wasn't too bad -- other than these ridiculous courts.
Frankly, watching the emotion of that Pacers bench versus Boston was pretty cool. A lot of those guys are making peanuts (in comparison to many other NBA Players), so the potential for winnings means a bit more to them.
Looking at standings as we've hit the quarter point of the season:
Nothing too out of the ordinary in the East so far. Maybe the slow start for the Heat, otherwise the top 6 seems about right. Orlando was projected as up and coming and they are right on schedule.
Out West is a different story, though. The struggles of Golden State, the Clippers and somewhat the Suns is surprising to the novice fan at the least. I am not at all surprised by the Thunder. Minnesota? Yes, that record is not what many saw out of the gate.
Then, there are my 'Stons. I wish I had an answer for you but I simply do not... a few things though...
1. They didn't want to go hard in FA until Monty was able to 'assess' the roster.
2. Injuries have not helped. They have lost the MOST player games due to injury
3. Of the injuries, most of their 'shooting' is on that list.
4. Duren came back too quickly the first time.
5. Monty's every-changing line-ups are, um, INTERESTING.
So, since starting 2-1 they have lost 18 straight. Now, is there any hope? Sure. The injuries are starting to heal. Bojan finally played the other night vs the Cavs. The last two games vs New York and Cleveland they have been much more competitive.
So, Bogie back and Duren healthy are big steps. I personally would like to see Monty settle on a line-up and rotation for a awhile and see how that gels. You are 2-18, hurting feelings isn't a bad thing.
I have an odd feeling that this team does well ATS here over the next month. Buy low...
