Daily academic schedules for Army and Navy players

TahoeLegend

Pretty much a regular
It's always striking to see how an Army or Navy football player spends their day and how different it is from that of all other college students. When you factor in a curriculum that is far more difficult than almost any other college football player you realize how special these guys are.

In addition to this demanding schedule all are required to take special training during the summer. Among the requirements are specialties like Ranger training, Airborne training, Special Forces, field training where they shadow an officer, submarine training, gunnery school, and most are required to take language immersion courses. Most of them will take at least one trip for an overseas summer assignment. Summer is just as demanding as the school year.

Hats off to the men and women of the service academies. Not many can measure up to them.

Were I an official ... I would struggle penalizing them

It's rarely needed to begin with. Discipline and attention to detail are two things we don't worry about with these teams.

If there's on O/U on combined penalties tomorrow my guess is 5. And I'll take the under.

It's because option teams go for it on fourth down more than almost any other teams. AFA, Army and Navy are three of the top seven teams in attempting fourth downs. afa 98th, navy115th and army 120th in fg attempts. the 120th the most important given the game line.
