The NFL ranks the worst in all of sports with color commentators. As fans we don’t give a shit if it’s an athlete or a nerd in the booth. Don’t shove meaningless information down our throats because you feel like you need to be heard.
Last night in my Rams game I had to turn the volume off late in that game. Bears are 4th and goal at the 3 and Collinsworth is filling the airwaves that the Bears will go for 2??? The Bears are 3rd and 2 and he says the Bears are playing 4 downs here. Bears get stuffed and then punt.
EVERY single one of these commentators are ATROCIOUS!! The NFL has an educated audience and yet these former players are hired to sound stupid.
They have hit an all time low with the hiring of JJ Watt. Olsen is another who never shuts up. Romo is tied to Nance and in my eyes ranks the worst of them all. Brady needs to improve or he’s going to be someone the volume goes off to.
Lastly regarding Collinsworth. Everything to him is the most extreme this or that. The greatest this or that he’s ever seen. It’s the one area the NFL has not gotten right.
 
Romo must have suffered some serious head injuries...He can't do basic math when a team is trailing, "would they possibly go for two if they score ?" This when the team is down 8 with under 3 minutes left. He also thinks teams will kick field goals down 4-7 points with under 3 minutes left.

I agree with the general line of thought but what I‘ve heard from Brady makes me feel like you‘re veering on the harsh side
 
NCAAF‘s Gus Johnson is also unbearable. Talk about feeling a need to be heard…loudly…without saying anything interesting. Is there a verb to describe that obnoxious thing he does with his voice? Hey Gus, you‘re not the reason we watch football games, so take a back seat, please
 
I always watch with the sound off now. Let us watch the game without this constant drivel in our ears. Collinsworth was very good when he first started. Would show and describe replays about the blocking on the play, etc. Then he got full of himself and now just gushes about everything. Anyone else notice that on every play the cameras always cut away to the 'crowd' before every play? The camera work is all over the place and you can't concentrate on the offensive or defensive lineups. Usually they only return to the game just before the snap. I think this all tactical distraction, so the viewer can't follow the game like you were actually there, otherwise you would come to the conclusion that the product is crap. It's all about the sizzle, not the steak.

Romo was just on McAfee. McAfee somehow compliments him on not just blabbing and actually giving us informative commentary. WHAT???
