College football playoff changes official

12 teams total

6 conference champs and 6 at large

Top 4 conference champs get a bye

Remaining top 4 seeds host games on campus versus bottom 4 seeds

Will be implemented by 2026 at latest, some talk 2024 as earliest possible

First potential issue I see is the conference champs after the sec and b1g, depending on movement to come, might get crushed by the at large teams consistently

Seems like with 12 teams they need to implement something like a 3 team cap per conference. Argument could be made for a 2 cap...not even sure who the 6 conferences are. Whole thing is moving towards 4 16 team conferences which would make it easier...just more politicking 6 at large at this point.

Yea right, it gonna be the sec and big10 invitational! Lol

Can't wait to see how many NFL caliber players will want to play 3-4 extra games after the season is over. 2 was questionable...but 2 games to win a title is one thing. Now another month for many? Not sure how great the product will be.

I imagine they‘ll get paid more for playing in those extra playoff games?

Most will still only play 1 or 2 games. Obviously there is the chance for 4 but most likely the champ will come from one of the bye teams.
