While there are unproven elements on both lines, to say nothing of new head coach Rich Stubler, the improvement at the most important position on the field is enough to start the Argos in top spot.

However, the last line of defence isn't as imposing and, in the pass-happy CFL, the secondary plays a major part of any team's success so the Bombers need internal improvement in that area before they are going to be viable Grey Cup contenders.

So, have no doubt that the Stamps will be able to score, no matter who is running the offence, but the defence needs some big performances from newcomers if Calgary is going to contend.

Interesting these POWER rankings from TSN has the 3rd strongest team getting points to the last ranked team in the leauge?

Hamilton is favored over Montreal -2.5 in this game at home.

Toronto is # 1 ranked and is also getting +2.5 points to the #4 ranked team in Winnipeg.

BC the # 2 ranked team is laying -3 to the #5 team in this league Calgary.

The 7th ranked team is laying -6 points to the 6th ranked team at home. Sask is laying to Edmonton.

Thanks for posting the opening lines Sammy.
Can't get shit here at work. All gambling, smut sites firewalled.
First impressions make me want to take Edmt. + 6 and u 53.5
Sask. is going to be a non contender this year allthough their D hasn't changed much. BC I think has by far the best receiving core in the league and as long as their QB's can get the ball to them, should control the west.
For the last couple of seasons the majority of games in the first couple of weeks in the CFL have stayed under the numbers
Best of luck with whatever you play.

Rider Green good to see you back. Your green riders are in a rebuilding year. ALthough they have great players, Crandell is a ??. He can be good and horrible, I suspect as the year goes on though he will falter as teams know his tendecnies and he does not move out of the pocket. He is old also.
The Riders D still has some great playmakers, my buddy Scott Gordon is still there to anchor the safety position for them.

Last year Winnipeg vs Toronto in Winnipeg was ridiculously low scoring as both defenses were shutting down the offences, GLENN was shut down as Winnipeg shut down Toronto--

The Key Rider GREEN is to predict which team will be better and ready to play in week 1 of the season--

THe BC total is 55? That may hit during the reg season, but CGY has basically a new O line and a New D line, other than that they have good players--

RAY got banged up hard last game vs Saskatchewan also, and EDMONTON has a history of getting beat very good in SASK. I do think though that Sask still has tremendous receivers, Domingues, Fantuz, some new kid BOWMAN-- Defense James JOhnosn CHICK, Eddie Davis--

Hamilton has no receivers, they have castoffs from other teams, MILES and WOODCOCK, they are very small for sure, they also have the BOWMAN kid who is shaky at best-- PRINTERS IMO Is very overrated- he only had success because of the BC system, every QB in BC has looked great because of their system is so good--

I am also thinking CGY could come out and play very well, and is also capable of laying a complete EGG- THye have too many new players on CGY and line play vs BC, if they lose that they lose the game, as simple as that.

Montreal has lots of young talent, they are missing their top 2 safeties and will start pascal MASSON, I am not sure how good he is-- CALVILLO usually does well vs HAMILTON, but Calvillo is on the wrong side of 30, and he turtles very easily if the rush is on him. IF he has time he can complete passes very nicely, a good rush vs HIM and he is done, and will find a way to get sacked--

Toronto may have David BOSTON back in the lineup, Arland BRuce 3rd, patrick JOhnson and Bethel JOHNSON former New england Patriot kick returner. Argos are very fast at wide receiver, I am not sure if there is a Defense that can run with all these speedster receivers? As always incumbetn MIKE BISHOP sucks, he is basically a guy with a CANNON of an arm and no brain. He is horrible. Kerry Lamar JOSEPH is in now, not sure if he is starting or BISHOP? JOSEPH is smart, runs a lot but was also shut down by WINNIPEG last year. JOSEPH was doing well in SASK, but he may take time to adust to a new team, or perhaps he may have so much talent that he may just do well. I dont think he will be in sync early with some recivers, but he runs a lot and makes plays out of atheltic ability so that should serve him well.

IN terms of teams that are intact from last year BC made the fewest changes by far. They may be good early on as they have everyone back basically from last year, that is good, because you know no new players will screw up.

Winnipeg has most of their key guys back on offense, but is missing some guys on DEFENSE.

Edmonton has added a few solid players and is looking to rebound, they are weak in certain areas, D line, linebacker, secondary- they have brought in Perry and YOUNGER to help these areas.

CGY brought in a new O line and basically a new D line--

Toronto is basically intact losing YOUNGER on D as a corner, and bringing in JOSEPH as QB, and 3 or 4 new receivers--
Toronto D has the potential to be leagues best again-

Sask lost HUNT, Joseph, Robinson and is going younger, CRANDELL is not great at QB--- THey still have key performers though at certain positions-

Montreal has most of its defense back from last year, on Offense they have everyone back and have added a few talented receivers--

Hamilton basically has all new DB's not sure how they are going to learn to stop teams early on this season-- Hamilton receivers are small, Printers just goes deep and is not great IMO- he is overrated after playing with BC who has talent everywhere, he had a good 10 games and then started to decline after that, just like VICK and VINCE YOUNG, same thing there
Hamilton has the losing attitude, dont think a bunch of new players will get the moneky off their back here.

Sammy really appreciate your detailed analysis on the CFL.
Thank Christ there's something else to wager on now other than interleague baseball & women's basketball.

I played Hamilton -2, I cant see Montreal doing much this year. Im also pondering the under -its at 46 right now.

I'm for sure on the under 46 tonight. If I make it home before it starts.
The BC / CAL game i'm not to sure about. ( leaning BC -3 ).
Goodluck all.

Hamilton -2--

Montreal is decimated by injuries, they are missing Calvillo's favorite target Cahoon, and Thurman, starting running back Payton is out, starting top 2 safeties are out-- 2 Defensive lineman, 1 linebacker are also out--

Hamilton has Lumsden and I look for him to explode tonight- Printers can run and his elusiveness will help also.

MOntreal has a new coach- new defensive coordinator and I believe a new ofefnsive coordinator--

Calvillo is getting old- he has not played for a long time after leaving the team last year--

I believe the hamilton pass rush and linebackers will make it hard on Calvillo.

Hamilton receivers are basically new but with the running attack and Printers mobility, I look for MOntreal to have trouble running and then with 2 new smallish receivers playing the slot position I dont think they can move the ball effectively in this game.

wtf pinny has no 1st half lines.they did this last year too for the first week or two .whats up with that

ticats -2 you guys talked me into it with all those injuries to mtl . stamps +3.5 should be a close game
