Timh wondering what you think of Hawaii at Rice this week. What did you make it and how do you think they match up?

My initial feeling is that Hawaii doesn't have the passing game to really hurt Rice (pass defense their biggest weakness imo). Rice has been impressive on offense (outgained TA&M) despite losing 38-10 and look like they have pretty good balance overall between the pass and run. The ODU gm sticks out as a sore point to me though as you would think Rice could dominate the LOS against that team yet Heinecke picked them apart and they didn't force any TO's. Hawaii may be the type of matchup they need so as not to get their pass defense exposed like it has been. I had it in the Rice 7 range. With the travel for Hawaii and the matchup I tend to lean towards Rice. How about you?

gl, dr. terps defense shocked me last week. wish i wouldnt have sat that one out.
El all I had to do was stop betting them and they have covered two in a row. I was very pleased with their defensive effort vs. Indiana, their front seven on D played extremely well.

I don't have a feel for Hawaii. Rice was -8.5 at usm, to to be -6.5 or 7 home to Hawaii would seem high on its face except for the fact they should have been lined more than that against Southern Miss. I like the Rice offense as long as Jackson is at qb but I am worried about them getting bulldozed by the fatty enough to keep the game close. I think the Owls are good enough to go bowling and you would think they win games like these to get there. I dunno really .. which is why I wanted help.

I reviewed the Hawaii box scores, haven't seen them play but it looks to me like their passing gm is pretty pedestrian and their ypa is really low. I would think this would be good news for Rice and they certainly have played a better schedule to date so I would think that would be beneficial.

(Associated Press)
Maryland Coach Randy Edsall declined to address his team’s quarterback situation during Tuesday’s news conference, vowing to not release an update on C.J. Brown’s sprained left wrist until Saturday morning ahead of that day’s Big Ten home opener vs. Ohio State.
There were no significant changes to the team’s depth chart following the 37-15 win over Indiana on Saturday. Brown, who left the game at halftime with the injury, is still listed ahead of backup Caleb Rowe. But Edsall did reaffirm his confidence in Rowe, who looked sharp in the second half against the Hoosiers. He finished 12-of-18 passing for 198 yards and two touchdowns.
“I’m very proud of Caleb, fulfilling the role of being a backup quarterback and being ready and coming in and being productive when his number is called,” Edsall said.
It was a turnaround of sorts for Rowe, who struggled at times in the season opener against James Madison when he replaced Brown in the second half after Maryland built a comfortable lead. Rowe looked confident and in command on Saturday, and took his chances with a number of throws downfield. He had a quick release (he took just one sack and completed a number of short throws), and both of his touchdowns were big plays. He had a 36-yard touchdown pass to Ross on a swing, then completed the afternoon with a 30-yard touchdown strike to freshman Juwann Winfree.
Whether Brown’s wrist would be able to hold up just seven days after it was injured is purely speculation, but Rowe is the latest player who may have to step in and fill a void for a team that is piling up injuries.
“I think we’ve been blessed to have that happen at a number of positions this year, with guys,” Edsall said. “Very proud of Caleb for staying engaged and being ready and knowing that when his number was called he came in and did the job that he was expected to do.”

GL Tim any feeling on the Terps over?
Not really, my concern is the matchup of MD OL vs. OSU DL. MD running game quite frankly is not very good and depends a lot on C.J. Brown out of the option sets. If he is unable to go our running game capabilities go down significantly. Rowe is a better pure passer, but MD needs CJ to maintain any semblance of balance on offense.

I knew I should have waited on this one but will go back for more Alabama -4 -108 2*

Is there weather at sparty or is the move Neb recent play vs sparty?
That may be part of it, looks like a little bit of rain and wind. BM dropped it down to 6.5 while everyone else seemed to be staying on 7.

GL to you and your Terps
Thanks I hope they are up to the task today. OSU front 7 on defense will provide them a significant challenge.

Thanks Alex, BOL today.

What up Tim!

With ya on Bama, Sparty, and SCary!

BOL as always buddy!
Thanks Aztec good to see you on the board, hope you have a great day.

any concern with Bama on the road like they shit the bed at WVU
I think Sims has improved markedly since the beginning of the year and I was impressed with his play vs. Florida. Kiffen has done a nice job with him in developing his read ability, sequencing and pocket presence. WVU runs the type of offense that gives Alabama trouble as they are more solid in run support defense than defensing the hurry up spread. I don't think Ole Miss brings nearly that type of threat with their limited passing game and Bo Wallace at QB.

CJ-Brown-Wrist-Injury.jpg

CJ Brown suffered a sprained wrist in Maryland win at Indiana. (USATSI)

Officially, Maryland says the status of starting quarterback C.J. Brown will be a game-time decision against Ohio State. Brown suffered a wrist injury against Indiana last week, but the Baltimore Sun reports that the sixth-year senior has been practicing this week and "looks good."
Brown is listed as the team's starter, but offensive coordinator Mike Locksley was pleased with Caleb Rowe's performance against Indiana (12-for-18 passing for 198 yards and 2 touchdowns) after Brown's injury. Locksley said this week that the game plan does not change much if Rowe is under center against the Buckeyes.
"There is very little difference in my opinion," Locksley said. "I think Caleb is a lot more athletic than maybe some people give him credit for. He has great pocket presence, great pocket awareness, and he has the ability to pull the ball down. He's no stiff, He's a pretty good athlete, and I don't see us having to change much, which for me has been rewarding.
"My first year with him, we put him in a box as a guy who is just a pocket guy, but he has some athleticism and having had him for three years, there is no hesitation in us being able to run anything in our game plan. Now obviously we play to the strengths of our players and our personnel, and so with that being said, we'll utilize our game plan, whether it's Caleb or C.J. to what they do best."
Maryland announced this week that Saturday's Big Ten home opener against Ohio State is a sell-out. It's the school's first sell-out at Byrd Stadium since a visit from Florida State on Nov. 22, 2008. Saturday will not only be the first Big Ten home game for Maryland but also its first-ever meeting against Ohio State, its new regular foe in the Big Ten East.
