Frustrating Week 13, with Michigan/OSU game heavily effecting my outcome for the week. Hate having the right play on the total and losing in 2OT. Also made a couple of bad adds (Ohio, ASU) that I got just deserved on. Look forward to the Championship games and the bowls and FCS playoffs.

Looks like we'll have a handful of 5-7 teams in Bowl games again. Among the 5-7 that would fill in nicely as a bowl participant. Ole Miss. Miss St. Texas Tech. Hawaii is 6-7. Would love to see Akron. They sling it and play no D. I'll take N. Illinois because they have a great coach. Texas is 5-7 and they'll probably get in. SMU is 5-7. Not bad choices and these teams are better than a lot of the 6-6 teams.

Thanks ksimpsc, have missed your threads this year. I tried SC TT over on Sat and got burned...really figured they would play better overall in that game as I think their offense really improved with the young QB.

Thanks Tim, we will see what next year brings. I am certainly more hopeful for the team as a whole than I thought I would be at this point last year. Oline is bad and the QB is still a young man, lots to learn but hey it could be a lot worse. I saw a lot of people get burned by USC last week. I feared that would be the outcome as the line kept growing.

I was about 3 or 4 weeks late to the cfb season this year with work so I did not have a season thread. I will try to not make that same mistake next season.
 
Asleep at switch again and missed openers on totals, didn't expect them this early today.....cost me again..

I agree seems like they are turning it around, we are in same position at MD and I was happy with 6-6 this year and a minor bowl plus the extra practices for the young guys coming back. I have been very happy with Durkin, solid hire for Terps.

Food for thought on ATS numbers and totals for this week:

S D State—overs are 8-3 on season, 5-1 on the road
Wyoming—overs are 9-3 on season, 4-2 home

Navy—overs are 8-3 on season, 5-0 home
Temple—is 11-1 ATS on season, 5-0 road

Washington—overs are 4-1 road
Colorado –10-2 ATS for season, 5-0 road…overs only 5-7 overall, but 3-2 road

Penn State—overs are 8-3 season, 4-1 road
Wisconsin—5-0 ATS on road

WMU—is 5-1 ATS on road, but unders are 4-2 on road
Ohio—is 5-1 ATS on road, on the season unders are 10-1, 5-1 on road

Totals in Florida's games have gone under 8-3 on the season, 4-1 on road

TCU—is 0-6 ATS at home this season
 
I like Okla State (could be a storm passing through so wind is something to watch in that one) and Kansas State.

I'm tempted to take Florida because I love a good defense and big points, but I made a rule to never bet against Alabama again as long as I live. Florida covered in this spot last year and I can't see Bama being motivated for a rematch they know they can win with the playoffs assured. And Florida's D is almost as good as Bama's. Bama allows 11 ppg, Florida 14.6. But Florida has a weak offense (special teams was the reason they covered in this game last year), they have four starters out on D, and Bama is the exception to all handicapping rules. I don't want to give 24, so I'll probably pass on this game.

Strong lean to Wisc/PSU under, Wash/Colorado under, WMU-Ohio under (I know Ohio plans to take the air out of the ball and waste as much clock as they can), and SDS/Wyoming over. May go with Okla/Okla State over depending on the late weather update.

I'm leaning to SDS in that game also. They took Wyoming for granted in the first game and still came back from a three TD deficit to tie the game, then went for two rather than go to overtime. Colorado State was a hot team in a game that was totally meaningless to SDS and the players and coaching staff knew it. I respect Wyoming and was 5-0 taking them this year, but I think SDS might cover with a little to spare.

I usually love the dogs, so I'm looking at V Tech and Temple and PSU, but haven't spent enough time yet to form an opinion.

I like W Virginia same as you because I think Baylor has quit. I've won going against them for five or six straight weeks.

I'm betting in contests instead of with the books this year and that is a slightly different approach--you're competing against other handicappers instead of the juice, so part of the handicapping is trying to predict what they will do--so have to have 10 picksd this week, but I'm waiting to make sure what the weather is on most of the totals and to get late injury updates.

I'm also going to take some time today and look at the history of conference title games. They've been around long enough now that the historical data should be worth taking into account. I've been hoping some reporter or handicapper would do it and I's be able to find it somewhere, but haven't seen anything so far.

If I find anything worth while I'll post it.

Anything special you see this week besides the ones you listed above?
 
Thanks for your thoughts Tahoe. I am looking at the Ohio/WM under either full game or 1st half, with the thinking that maybe Ohio defense can keep them in the game for a little while and that they can make enough first downs to burn some clock. I do wish that game was outdoors though. I want to look further at Penn St./Wisc game have concerns there about injuries Barkley, Penn St. off line and Hornibrook Wisc.

And after reading about the Navy situation, I'm afraid WMU, if they get a bit of a lead, will feel the need to leave no doubt about who deserves to be in the Cotton Bowl. Obviously being undefeated should seal it, but they're only a couple spots ahead of Navy right now and that will be their last statement while Navy will still have two cracks at it. Afraid WMU tries to light it up just because.

1h is probably a good look. As KJ kind of alluded to I would fear what Fleck would do in the second half if he did have a sizable lead, which is keep gunning. If the game is close and Ohio is playing them tight I think you will not have as much to worry about. But if they are a couple scores up early this could get ugly. Only match up that matters is what Ohio defense does against WMU Offense. Some MAC teams were able to get some stops when playing WMU.

There are two games where it was thought weather might affect the game. Here's the latest:

OU/Okla State--weather should have no effect. There might be a light shower now and then through the game, but nothing heavy and both teams have shown they can play in snow or rain. Wind will be calm with breezes up to 5 or 6 miles an hour and temps in the high 40s low 50s.

SDS/Wyoming--Winds high enough to put a stop to scoring will be whipping through the stadium during the day, but will subside by game time. After that it will be only 10-13 mph winds. But it is a night game and is going to be bone-chilling cold. The wind chill will be somewhere between zero and 4 degrees. That may have some effect on the total although teams seem to not be bothered by cold like they are by wind.

I think a lot of handicappers will assume SDS cannot take the temps because they live in San Diego. I thought the same thing for years and it still seems logical to me that a warm weather team should not be able to play in that kind of cold, but teams always seem to be able to handle it. I lost a lot of money before I finally decided to ignore what logic tells me.

I've been in Laramie several times for games and when the wind blows it's one of the coldest environments for a football game on the planet. The CSU game may have meant nothing to San Diego St. but it was a total embarrassment the way their defense was shredded giving up over 500 yards worth of offense and 63 points. I see San Diego as a team trending down at the end of the year. Wyoming was undefeated at home this year.
 
You could be right on the money on SD State, Geezer. They could have peaked and the Wyoming and CSU losses could be an accurate picture of where they are now as a team.

Of course Wyoming got just as shredded in their meaningless game against New Mexico.

Funny because I also had the CA/EW over on my radar screen as unless I am missing something, I like this one up to about 67. Anything jump out at you that I might be missing before I lock it in at BOL as I will probably have to do multiple plays given the limits they probably have set this morning.

Funny because I also had the CA/EW over on my radar screen as unless I am missing something, I like this one up to about 67. Anything jump out at you that I might be missing before I lock it in at BOL as I will probably have to do multiple plays given the limits they probably have set this morning.

No, I like it a lot CB. EW 9.3 YPA only topped by SHSU who played shit schedule. Central Ark vulnerable in pass defense. I think this one is a track meet and EW goes for 45+.
 
Nice work last night doc. Against you pretty big in Annapolis but GL with the others. Interest in your thoughts on the ACC tilt if you get a min.

Good to know we are on the same page there as I have 2 units on it (always fun to wait 61 secs hoping the line doesn't go crazy at BOL before getting the next submission in) to go with the 2 I have on both Navy and Clemson today.
 
Changed my mind on the SDS/Wyoming total.

Updated weather forecast says winds will be 15 mph during the game. Winds that strong and zero wind chill don't sound like points to me.

Great to seeing you posting Tahoe. We lost a great one in bloodhound so hopefully we can all fill some of his void this Bowl season.
Btw, I'm still leaning Wyoming overs at 56. Definitely have to check the wind prior to game time. GL
