Steelers/Jets
This was a blast to watch. It looks like both Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields are going to fit in nicely with their new teams. Rodgers looked like a vintage version of himself for much of this game. Crisp off angle throws that fit in tight windows. Steelers fans have to be happy with what they saw. Fields looked great in most of this game himself, doing it with his arm and his legs. Both offenses were very entertaining while both defenses struggled. Something to keep an eye on. The Jets ran the ball exceptionally well while the Steelers did not. Im pretty sure the Steelers do not want old man Rodgers slinging it around like this every game. They need to run the ball.
Bengals/Browns
Snoozefest. I really thought the Bengals would come out scoring points all over the field in this one. Instead the Bengals were pretty seriously outplayed in this game and were lucky to come away with a win. TOP was lopsided with the Browns holding the ball for nearly 12 mins longer. Yardage was lopsided with the Browns outgaining the Bengals 327-141 and the Browns had 22 first downs to the Bengals 11. Im not touching either of these teams for a bit moving forward as I dont know how the Browns can lose a game that they dominated this much and I dont know how the Bengals can win if they continue to play this bad.
49ers/Seahawks
I was impressed overall with the Seahawks in this game. Their defense played their asses off and really kept them in this game right up to the end. The offense will more than likely come along but if the defense plays like they did on Sunday this will be a team that can be a very tough out. The Niners are hard to read. The injuries are already piling up after week 1 and I really did not get a great read on them from this game. I think the lack of scoring was more due to Seattle playing their asses off on defense in all honesty. Two teams I will be watching closely moving forward.
Titans/Broncos
At first glance you might look at this one and say the Broncos had a kinds of trouble with a Titans team they should have easily beaten. I think the other way you have to look at it though is Bo Nix played about as bad as he possibly could have and they still won by 8 points. I expect him to be much better in the coming weeks. I think this Broncos team is the real deal. As for the Titans I think Cam Ward will be better when he doesnt have to face off with a really good defense on the road for his first start. I did not get much of a read on the Titans from this one other than they played hard for their new coach. Something to keep an eye on for prop bets in the coming weeks. Bo Nix attempted 8 rushes in this game. I made money several times last year betting the over on his attempt prop.
Lions/Packers
In my head I had the Packers and the Ravens as the two best teams in the opposing divisions prior to week 1. The Packers did absolutely nothing to change my mind in this one. This was a pretty efficient and dominating win by the Pack. Goff was good in this game but the running game was completely shut down by the Packers defense. The Lions are going to need more than 46 yards rushing as a team to win games. The Packers looked strong on both sides of the ball. The Lions honestly looked a bit out of sorts and I expected that after they lost both coordinators in the offseason. Better days ahead for the Lions I believe while I think the Pack are just getting started.
Texans/Rams
Defensive slugfest. Rams made the correct halftime adjustments in this one to squeak out the win. Both teams have strong defenses and both teams were a bit out of sorts on offense. Of note.....Puka is still always open and is absolutely peppered with targets. D Adams is a great addition for McVay and he will get fed all season. The Rams also held Nico Collins to 3 catches for 25 yards. Thats no easy feat.
Ravens/Bills
Wow....game of the week and possibly game of the year. Ravens were the team to beat in the AFC in my head and I still believe that. This loss will make them better in the long run. They should have won this game going away but not for some weird bounces and mistakes. Impressive showing right up to the point where it was not anymore. As for the Bills they still have superman at QB. Josh Allen is just that guy. Hes pretty incredible to watch. I have serious questions about each teams defense after this one and obviously less questions about each teams offense. Both of these teams are elite.
Vikings/Bears
Weird game. The Bears completely and utterly dominated the majority of this game and they were making JJ look like a deer in the headlights. Then lightining struk and boom the Vikings won with three 4th quarter TDs. Some observations from this one. Jordan Mason looks to be the RB1 for the Vikiings. Caleb Williams looked good for the most part in his first game with Ben Johnson. I think these two will do some good stuff together. JJ has a lot to prove if you ask me. He looked absolutely terrible for a huge part of this game before shaking off the cobwebs.
