Philly -3
NY Giants +5.5
Jax -6.5 althought I am not playing this number. I didn't like Leftwhich, but it cause the team to lose focus. I'd expect this number to move down, and depending on how far down it moves, I might play it.
Indy/NO Over 52, although I am not going to play it, I am hoping for a low scoring 1st half, so I can bet the 2nd half over. I can see myself pounding a moderate 2nd half over on this game between 2 good offenses and 2 bad defenses.

considering
Seattle -6 or ML ( seattle is tough at home)
Washington -3
Houston -3 ( KC will not make the playoffs this year)
Carolina +1 ( better team, STL defense weak)
Denver -3 ( Losman sucks, rookie RB)
Atlanta +3 ( althought it is probably a no bet)

I also am thinking about a NYG +12.5/NE Pick teaser

I think the whole Mangini factor and that 1 loss last year is keeping this line where it is. NE is clearly the better team. I kind of wanted to stay away from the Pats until those receivers gel, but I am pretty sure they win. I am not as confident that they cover, but they should win.

and I am still looking for that sucke bet :10_4_6:

Probably my two favorites are the Eagles and the Giants at 6.5 right now at bet ed. Are you freaking kidding me?

I'd hate to say this, but Philly -3 has a possibility of being a sucker bet. I mean fools gold.

I want to hear the argument from the Green Bay backers, and I want to watch the money flow.

I am always on the lookout for the weekly fools gold, I have a few in mind right now, but I want to hear what the Mike Publics of the world think.

If it has to be a home team I only see SEA and STL

If it is not a home team but instead a short line I would think
PIT, DEN, PHI

Great to see your threads. Good Luck this season...

You need a name for your "sucker" picks. If I remember correctly they are good enough to be named...

Well, I can't speak for the Mikes of the world, but as an Eagle fan I can tell you one of two things is going to happen in this game.

Either the Eagles are going to pound the ever-loving p*ss out of Green Bay, because Donovan is 4-0 in his last games vs. GB, because he plays extremely well against them, because offense is usually ahead of defense in Week One, and on and on.

Either that happens or this game is going to be extremely close, a FG either way.

Frankly, I don't want to say it, but I fear the latter is what happens.

I think LJ Smith isn't going to be 100% so they'll play it safe with him, not start him, maybe not even play him. This opens up the door for Barry Scheck, aka Tom Selleck, aka Brent Celek who had a great preseason, but who's no LJ Smith. That limits the offense some.

Mostly because he's had little injuries here and there that keep him out of the lineup for a game or four a year, people miss the value of LJ to this team. He opens things up for Westbrook out of the backfield, and forces you to single guys on the outside so you don't end up with him dusting a linebacker for 25 yards a catch.

Also, the Eagles O-line which I really really like, has had nagging injuries coming into the season, they should be fine, but I would much rather they be 100% and ready to go rather than have some question marks next to their names.

I hope I'm wrong.

I hope Farve has one of his typical days against the Eagles, throws for three picks, the Eagles get a couple of big plays early and cruise easy.

But I fear it's not going to be that easy Sunday.

I think this team is going to get some easy wins this year, and I hope this is one of 'em, I'm just not sure on it. So I'm staying off.

like the philly play and interested in your thoughts on why you think Carolina is better than STL....CAR QB is on the verge of losing his job if he doesnt perform well the first couple of weeks
i think for week 1 matchup, the CAR D will not be ready for an offense such as the Rams. too fast for them this early on in the year
like SEA and Den as well

I think Losman will be better this year than last year (84.9) he has improved each year. Denver started last year off by losing to what ended up being a terriable Miama team.

I like the Pats (homer pick)

But the Joe Public pick has to go to Philly but I can't resist
BOL everyone:cheers:

Joe- saying " donovan plays well against green bay" doesn't do it for me. How many of those guys did he play against? Al Harris? KGB on the bench? In case you didn't notice, green bay totally revitalized their defense.

so basically what your trying to say, is either somebody is going to win big, or it's going to be close?

chopz-

I can assure you that I am not delhomme fan, but he is not on the verge of losing his job to david broken down carr. David Carr not only is brand new and has to learn the offense, but he wasn't very good in houston.

delhomme might not be some super star, but he's streaky. David carr has huge fundamental issues with his game. He doesn't understand protections, and he gets sacked at such a high rate. It wasn't just his lines fault, he's terrible at feeling the rush. He also telegraphs where he is going to throw the ball.

Gary Kubiak is a good coach and knew that there were just too many problems to deal with, with carr. He'd rather start over with Matt Schaub, then try and re-teach carr how to play quarterback and get rid of his awful habits.

with that said...

I am not going to dispute that the rams have a good offense, because they do. QB, RB, and receivers.... but offense isn't even half of the game...

there are still defense and special teams. What the Rams have on offense, they cancel out on defense. Their special teams should be better with Hall, and wilkins is a good kicker, but the defense stinks. They got to the point last year, that they knew they weren't going to do anything, so Haslett just said fuck it and blitzed religiously.

I like the front 4 of carolina a lot. Peppers, rucker and jenkins are dominant. Their linebacking core should be better this year too.

The carolina offense was lackluster last year, but they got rid of their biggest problem... the schlub calling the plays. Dan Henning was trash.

the panthers are a more balanced team.

great write ups cgold..I suck at NFL reg. season, do pretty good in playoffs though.

Imma be tailing u a few times this year man..gl.

your not the only ones who loves seattle in week 1...

I do have a fools gold pick, but I want to release it closer to sunday.

I will tell you though, 52 is a little too high for me tommorow, so I am hoping for punts and field goals, so that I can pound a 2nd half over tommorow. I'd love to get a good number on that, and have some money to play with later in the week.

I have a good general idea of my card, I am just trying to decide how many units to go with.

Good luck C-Gold.

I am liking Green Bay. I like their defense, they are solid vs. the run and have young LB that can cover ground against the West Coast offense.

My questions on Green Bay, how will Jackson fare in this game and will he be able to handle Jim Johnson blitz pickup?

Philly to me seems like the biggest sucker bet on the board, just my take.

Like the Giants and the Jags.

Nice line you got on the Giants, I am waiting to see if I can get 6.5 or more, but want to get 6 at least.

watch out for the home dog guys, especially the home openers. the following games are as follows:

buff, jets, gb, clev....all home dogs!

den vs. buff, don't like the way den played in the preseason...defense lost a few key players
ne vs. jets, brady has new toys to play with although they're not geling as yet, plus moss is hurts
phil vs. gb, mcnabb first real game since the season ending injury '06
pitts vs. clev, new hc factor for pitts. who knows how the players will perform w/ the new system, pitt -4.5 looks too easy.

i would lay 2 cents on these dogs especially in the home opener.

Good thread bro..

as for STL D, they do have speed...I really like the addition of Carriker too...but they aren't going to win games on field position and defense, we know that...

but this is a good turf team and good spot for em IMO..

GL this week bro.

I didn't make any plays yet... but Beted has...

Eagles -2.5
and Giants +6.5

I am having problems depositing though:hang:

yup

Beted throws out the most fucked up lines...

How in the fuck are the eagles at -2.5? They are getting hit at a 70% clip by the public. I generally don't like flowing with the pub, but they pub can't lose them all.

I had trouble depositing with them last time too. The thing is, if a sportsbook ever wants to make money, make it as easy as possible to deposit money... that is where bodog actually excells.

so basically what your trying to say, is either somebody is going to win big, or it's going to be close?

Well, there are four possible outcomes to any game, blowout either way, or close either way. I suppose you could say six if you count something like a seven or ten point difference in there being neither/nor.

My point was that I think there are pretty much two ways this one goes.

Either the Birds get some breaks early and they roll, or the game is tight the whole way and (hopefully) the Eagles squeak it out.

GB won't blow this team out. GB won't win by seven either. If GB can win it will almost certainly be in the FG realm, you know, assuming some odd s**t doesn't happen (5 TOs, blocked something for a TD, you know unforseen randomness). But I see a more controlled game, Philly leading most of the way by 4 or 7, then holding off GB late.

You can disregard Donovan's performance all you like against GB, but the bottom line is, he tends to do well against the Packers. Real well. He just does.

And Farve doesn't seem to fare well against Jim Johnson's defense.

It's just the way things are.

As I said, I hope that continues. I just have this weird feeling the Birds might find a way to keep this one closer than I'd like.

I hope I'm wrong. I'd love the Eagles to have this game won by halftime.

On the others, I don't think I'll play either of those games, but I'm liking Seattle more and more.

Good luck tonight, I almost played that over myself.

Indy/NO Over 52, although I am not going to play it, I am hoping for a low scoring 1st half, so I can bet the 2nd half over. I can see myself pounding a moderate 2nd half over on this game between 2 good offenses and 2 bad defenses.

Fuck yeah, however, I have to thank Matt Giordannio for not taking a knee and running that interception back for the touchdown.

Thank you my half sicilian, half italian friend. I'll buy you a slice of pizza.
