Browns Trade draft pick for Miami DB

G-Man

Pretty much a regular
Three years ago, defensive back Travis Daniels found himself in the perfect situation with the Dolphins.
A native of Hollywood, he was back in South Florida, starting in the NFL as a rookie for his college coach, Nick Saban.

"He was in a good situation playing for the Miami Dolphins, coming back home," defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday said. "But ... it gives him an opportunity, because I don't know where he fit down here. Now he goes to a team that wants him."
Daniels, 25, had appeared to be competing with newcomer Joey Thomas just to make the team as the fifth cornerback, behind holdovers Will Allen, Andre Goodman and Michael Lehan and newcomer Nathan Jones, who had brief stints with the Dallas Cowboys.
Daniels (6-foot-1, 195 pounds) has size and speed, but his performance declined steadily since his rookie season under Saban, who coached him at LSU.
Daniels had 62 tackles and 13 passes defensed in 2005, but had a combined 63 tackles and six passes defensed the past two seasons.
He allowed an average of 10.9 yards per completion in 2007, ranking among the worst in the NFL.
Linebacker Channing Crowder, who entered the NFL the same year as Daniels, said he spoke with him after the trade was made.
"He's not upset," Crowder said. "You're going to go to Cleveland tomorrow if you're mad or go to Cleveland tomorrow if you're happy. So you might as well take it in stride and go play ball."
The trade was the latest in a long line of roster moves by the new Bill Parcells-led regime.
The Dolphins have 73 players on the roster, which is seven below the maximum allowed during training camp. Teams are required to trim rosters to 75 by Tuesday.

poor guy has to come and live in cleveland instead of being home in miami hahahha. decent move...think we still obviously need a corner that can be a little higher on the depth chart though

I love it. Yes, please, give us more depth in the secondary. You want a 7th rounder, you got it.

Go Dawgs.

Didn't this happen like a week and a half ago?

This shows you how much in need there defensive backfield is...GM Savage has rarely if ever made a move this late. This shows me one thing that there secondary is in dire need of some help and quick. Hope the D-Line is going to be able to get penetration or else it'll be another season of who scores last.

The Browns defense is gonna suck this year, plain and simple. Getting this scrub just tells me how desperate they really are for help on that side of the ball. Rough year for Cleveland fans...Indians were very disappointing and amid all this playoff talk for the Browns, I don't see them doing anything much better than 8-8.

cause Belichick and Saban are boys...dating back to Browns years

that and the fact that the winning NFL teams know to draft from the SEC because that's where you find a concentration of speed and strength. Belichick took Jerrod Mayo this yr in the 1st round of the draft. And look at Dallas' defense.
