Breeders Cup 2019

Gandolf

Leader of the Van Buren Boys
Been a tough year for horse racing nationally starting with the track issues/horse deaths at Santa Anita, the DQ controversy in the Derby, the controversial decision to keep the BC at Santa Anita this year and the non-use of the popular downhill sprint course, lack of star horses to capture the imagination, and other DQ controversies in major races, and also here in the CTG community with the sudden loss of Lloyd Braun. We trudge on with heavy hearts and our thoughts in prayer for his family.

Supposed to be a beautiful two days at Santa Anita, no weather concerns at all. Today is the newly revamped Juvenile day (not a fan), with the more familiar Cup races running on Saturday.

Race 5 (Juvy Turf Sprint) - A disappointing 5 furlongs now, the course seems to favor on or near the lead types. A lot of Euros making the trip, best of the bunch is A'Ali (10), 2 for 3 at the distance. Alligator Alley (6) and Dr. Simpson (8) are price horses to juice up the exotics. U.S. win hopefuls seem to be dominated by Kimari (7) and Four Wheel Drive (9).

Race 6 (Juvenile Turf) - Traditionally dominated by Euro entrants, this year boasts only two new invaders, but both are from five time winner Aiden O'Brien, Arizona (12) and Fort Myers (13). Both need to be used on class alone. US horses that interest me are Structor (2) and Decorated Invader (4). Fool around with Our Country (1) and Hit the Road (14) in the exotics.

Race 7 (Juvenile Fillies) - Favorite Donna Veloce will be stretching out for the first time and there seems to be other speed to go with her. The deep dirt surface could be trouble for her. The three 7/2 horses British Idiom (4), Bast (6) and Wicked Whisper (7) seem like the three best options. 20/1 K P Dreaming (8) is worth some use underneath.

Race 8 (Juvenile Fillies Turf) - Usually the Chad Brown Invitionational (4 wins) but this year his filly Selflessly is not that well thought of. A couple of Euros, Daahyeh (5) and Albigna (9) seem to be coming in with intent, and Sweet Melania (12) and Sharing (11) both turn back in distance, are getting some buzz and should be square prices.

Race 9 (Juvenile) - This is traditionally a favorites race. With the scratch of Maxfield this seems like a two horse race between Baffert's Eight Rings (6) and Dennis' Moment (1) whose trainer Dale Romans has said is the best two year old he's ever had. Flip a coin for Pick 4 or Pick 5, for my money it'll be the 1.

Will be rolling PIck 3 using the following sequence: 6,7,9,10 / 2,4,12,13 / 4,6,7 / 5,9,11,12 / 1,6

Good luck all!

Sorry I missed the action today, had internet problems all day and had to take care of a couple of work issues. Hope everyone did well.
