Hello been following this forum for a while and its a nice classy forum.
On to the game between BC and Navy. Now BC has lost its coach Tom Obrien and defensive coach takes over as coach. BC players like the new coach and wants to keep him here in the future and want to play hard for him. BC owns 6 straight bowl wins vs lesser opponents.
I find great value in BC tomorrow as I looked into these stats.
I checked out some decent running teams that BC has faced this year. Now while they were not option teams, it shows that from a fundamental point they can tackle and have good defensive lineman and good linebackers.
-Wakeforest managed 176 yards on the ground vs BC. However 2 carries were for 91 (81 yard run)and one back carried 19 for 46 yards.
-Virginia Tech ran for 95 for an avg of 3.4 yards vs BC
-Florida State ran for 49 yards on 21 carries for 2.5 avg.
-Clemson ran for 156 yards on 41 carries for an avg of 3.8.
Now BC has had 3 weeks to prepare for the Navy attack. Most teams have only week for NAVY. In practice Navy has been simulating NAVY's offence, and has a good d line to stifle the run as long as lane assigments are met and they do not overpursue.
Navy lost its starting QB in the Rutgers game and has a backup KAIPO EDENUYE. NAVY lost its thunderback BALLARD in the Army game with a broken leg and he is a major force. NAVY rushes between 350 and 450 yards in its wins and if it does not it will lose like vs Rutgers and N Dame.
Here are the passing stats for Navy Qb games he played this year.
-Rutgers 2 for 6 for 28 yards
-Notre Dame 2 for 5 for 25 yards
-Duke- 2 for 4 for 32 yards
7 for 9 for 151 yards vs E michigan
3 for 7 for 35 vs Temple
1 for 6 for 11 yards vs Army
Now vs BC who is stellar vs the run this season and has struggled a little in the secondary this spells trouble. The tell tale sign of the stats is that whether Navy lost to Rutgers and to Notre Dame or in their wins the Qb's stats were pretty much the same. Bc will be ready for the Navy Run and Navy cannot pass its way back in the game.
BC is led by RYAN who is a solid QB, behind a very big experienced O line. He should have good time to throw and do well vs a weak secondary of the Navy Midshipmen.
The loss of BALARD and with this Qb KAIPO who played 5 games, who cannot throw the ball, Navy will not stay close to Bc.
Boston College will move the ball on Navy with Ryan through the air. Boston College is more of a throwing team this year. RYAN with his experience and the athletes at receiver and the huge O line should allow BC to have success.
NAVY will have to stick with the run as you saw the Qb's stats above. Now I do not think they will run the ball down Bc's throat as they did vs Duke, Temple. E Michigan and Army. It will be a case of the game vs Rutgers 34-0 loss or Notre Dame 38-14 loss. Surely NAVY will have to throw for more than the QB's 2 completion avg and 30 yards?? It is obvious he cannot throw. I do not see how Navy will be able to hang with BC without any legitimate throwing stats. I have watched enough games to learn that conversions on 3rd down for more than 3 yards are going to be hard to pick up on the ground vs good teams. With Navy's passing stats I see a lot of 3 and outs.
Playing Bc for a larger than normal play
Good luck to everyone
