Nice price on a good number in KC tonight. For the record, the Royals are worth a long look here as Baltimore has lost 7 of Hammel's last 8 starts. The fact that I see KC winning only makes me like the under more if they play 8.5 frames. Baltimore hits righties much better than the lefty they'll see on the hill tonight. Wind blowing in at a park where its hard enough to hit it out should help both pitchers. Two decent pens, and an umpire who doesn't scare me in Scott.

Good to see you back scdoggy. You've had a better read than I on the Oreos.

I'm leaning over though. Hammel has been in bad form all season long. I just can't trust the guy. KC hasn't been all that impressive with the bat though.

OTOH, Chen isn't your typical lefty. He can't get lefties out at all. Will the Oreos put 4-5 lefties in the lineup? But, not only that, but he struggles against the righties that could be in the lineup (valencia, Hardy, Jones)

Hammel is the one guy here who does scare me a little, but with the O's pen well rested and Showalter getting booed at home in Hammel's last outing when he left him out there too long - I think we get the quick hook this evening.

With this wind coming in, and Chen's ability to keep the ball in the park (3 HR's this year) I don't see Baltimore going nuts on the scoreboard. I'm sure we'll see McClouth, Davis, and Markakis from the left side, and only Markakis has good numbers off Chen (McClouth and Davis a combined 2 for 10 lifetime). Wieters has been hot in recent games but is 1 for 8 lifetime.

You see that NHL schedule for the Caps? 2 home/home series against Philly, and one vs. Pit. As much as I hate the fact that McPhee hasn't addressed the team's lack of physicality (letting Hendricks go and failing to sign any new muscle) I'm glad they are back in the old Patrick Division where they belong.

Yeah, that's going to be nuts. And I don't like the Caps offseason at all, but I guess it was to be expected.

Thanks guys

Yeah Jump - I couldn't believe he was that young either. I remember him playing in the 2002 Series vs. SF. Had to go look it up. He made it into the bigs that year in Sept at the age of 20.... I figured he was at least 35 by now.

A good signing for Baltimore. They still need a starter badly. Hammel is just not right, as evidenced by last night's game. He hasn't gotten a win in his last nine outings, and the team only won one of those. I'm looking forward to seeing how far their bats and bullpen can carrry them. Its going to be tough for the birds to make the postseason, especially with TB just steamrolling right now, but if they can get into October, they've got a shot... I don't think there is a lineup in baseball that hits as well as them from every single spot in the order. And O'Day, K-Rod, and Johnson are a nice back end to the pen, with Matusz able to fill the specialist role vs. lefties.
