B1G Week 12 Thread...

Alright, I didn't see much conference wide but a few quick impressions...

-Maryland and Rutgers are just embarrassing.

-Sparty finally responded. Even their coach said it was celebrating a championship on the locker room. That is quite the fall from grace to celebrate winning against RU but with them I guess it helps moral as many rumors abound about a divided squad/coaches etc.

-That was a typical Indiana kinda game there. How many times have we seen that?

Now, I'll go to the home team...

That was an odd game. I frankly think it was the worst coached game of the last two years. The players were very undisciplined as well. I knew that would be a tough game there at night and they let them hang around way too long. Dropped passes, overthrows...it was all there. Also, they run the same exact play with Peppers. There is so much more to do with him on offense. They were way to predictable.

Now, lets talk officiating. It happens all over the country but it was brutal. I read there are 11 plays under review and 8 were against Michigan. That 2nd roughing the punter he was outside the box. The phantom facemask on the GW drive. He never touched the facemask. Then there is the Darboh TD. It was called a TD on the field. I honestly have no idea if it was or wasn't. It was so close with the foot hitting ground. The problem is...you cannot overturn that.

This all goes back to the "O'Neill crew". They have no business ever being on a field. They have screwed over multiple Big Ten Teams.

With all that being said, UM let Iowa stay in it and had a weird offensive gameplan. They deserved to lose or at least be in that dogfight. I would say it might be best for them. They spent too much time decorating the pink locker room. Focus on the opponent guys.

*Obviously all rumors, but it seems that Speight is done for regular season with a collarbone injury on the last pass he made. He has a history of this in High School.*

Week 12...

I think that is way too many points for IU at the 28.5 but it looks like it is off the board...

Iowa -10.5
NW -1
Wisky -27.5
OSU -21.5
PSU -28
Neb NL

Ohio State should pummel MSU. Now, do they go full throttle or just enough for next week?

PSU as well, maybe.

No other thoughts yet...

Definitely check the weather. Early indications are a very windy Saturday in A2.

Michigan insiders saying Speight out for year or until Bowl at the least. So who knows.. Don't expect them to win in Columbus personally.

Really weird pedo u gets in the big ten championship if they win out as well as bucks. But bucks should be #2 in playoff and beat Wisconsin already so it shouldn't matter in cfp scenarios.

I hope Speight is done. He's terrible.
HUNT I said a long time ago that the QB from HOUSTON was going to be the QB I wish U of M gave me a shot at choching because your right JIM H made a big mistake letting this kid be QB

HUNT no no please tell me your not kidding yes the guy from HOUSTON will be QB . yes like I said last week IOWA would beat U of M thats the game I was worried about not OHIO STATE

As mentioned in the playoff thread, if tOSU and PSU both win out and tOSU somehow makes the playoff over PSU that would be hilarious/ridiculous/unjust/embarrassing. They played on the field and Pedo St won the game. Pedo St would play in the B1G title game and tOSU wouldn't even do that. How could tOSU make it over PSU at that point and anyone want to take the playoff committee seriously?

If you don't even make your conference's title game, there is zero reason you should even be considered for the playoff. Winning the title game should be the barometer to begin with, but not even making it to the title game should disqualify you immediately.

Debatable. Arguments from both sides.

I would venture to say that osu would win if it was at their house on primetime.

I would also make Tosu a 10-13 point favorite on a neutral field.

I agree though, its a flawed system.

What gives Wisconsin the right to be in the big ten championship game? They are in a different division but lost to both Michigan and Ohio State.

Many arguments.

That's the word supposedly Speight out. Who knows.

Maybe I'm biased, but I'll take the big ten top 4 teams over any other conference top 4 teams. It isn't even close imo.

Michigan just gotta beat Ohio State, it was that clear at beginning of year and crystal now. Confidence waning they will do it Ohio State far from invincible. Many chinks in armor exposed by physical Penn State defense. NW and Indiana played similar tough D against them.

Agree Big 10 champ should be in playoff if its Penn State but not Wisconsin if its at the expense of Ohio State. Ohio State beat Wisconsin, lost to Penn State would be my reasoning. I don't care where games are played, other team gets that advantage the previous or following year. Its about this year and if you lose to a team that is a champion you should not go over them. Likewise, in Wisconsin case if you are champion and you lost to one loss Ohio State why should you get to go for playing in a pathetic Big 10 West over OSU. I think both Big 10 teams should go in that scenario, leaving out a Louisville. Though it would be hard to leave out Wash if they win Pac 12 with one loss. I think that is the only way 2 of OSU/Wiscy/Penn State don't go. I think Louisville is basically screwed at this point if projected happens. Further, who brings more $$ to the table for viewers. PSU Ohio St national brands, Ville is not. When in doubt, follow the $$. Same could be said for Washington. PSU will have the Emmert factor working against them though, no way NCAA wants to see this happen. Tried to kill program, completely backfired. They have to be ill this is happening, Delaney too.

No idea what to expect from Michigan this week. I would expect hair on fire. Indiana not half bad, would have to consider under. IU coughed up the ball constantly costing them the game last week.

Tempted to bite on Rutgers at 4 tds. Beating PSU is their everything, unlikely as it is to happen, PSU without 4 o lineman including 3 tackles. 2 are season enders. One in hospital still with clotting issues. PSU struggled to run at all last week vs IU with the best RB in the nation. This is the time of year as we saw last week these teams with so much to gain start playing tight. PSU very inexperienced. Rutgers played Iowa, IU tough at home and lost by 2 only at Minnesota. Its either a complete massacre or Rutgers keeps it within 10 to me. That PSU o line is brutal right now, again. I expect Sparty, yes Sparty to beat them next week if those lineman are out. I just haven't watched Rutgers at all for good reason. But shocking they have played with those aforementioned teams.

I can't and never will get a handle on Sparty. Did win last week how it happened ignite confidence, sure?? We have seen these 21 point road faves get tripped up, straight up lately. But this is a noon game. They handled Michigan covering the big #. Surely their Super Bowl and probably my only reservation of them coming out flat in 2 weeks at PSU with nothing to play for.

Expect the unexpected this time of year as always. I think Washington and PSU lose one more game this year, PSU before Big 10 title, just a hunch. OSU Wisconsin to duke it out.

Therefore, going with OSU, Bama, Clemson, Louisville in Final 4. I don't think Ville deserves it, but other teams drop out gets them there.

At this point I will take a Rose Bowl for Michigan, I think we all would have before season started. We are getting there, just need a better QB. McCaffrey will take care of that one day. Confident Harbs will bring one home.

To further HUNTs point, only the SEC can hold a candle to what the B1G is offering this year. The PAC 12 and Big 12 are flat out brutal though I think the depth of the PAC 12 is improving. ACC very top heavy, Pitt saving their face. SEC has two really good teams, Bama and LSU. That is it. Wisco beat LSU though and probably the 4th best team in the big 10, well third with psu injuries.

Interesting moves on the total this week...

That is a lot of points for Indiana there to be honest.

They have a fine rushing defense, they held Barkley to 1.7 ypc last week and I believe they had double digit TFL if I read correctly.

It is going to be windy and cold. This obviously will impact whether to go for 4th downs or kick intermediate FG's.

O'Korns first start at UM. I think he will be fine and brings some different elements. The knock on him is he takes more chances. We shall see. He has looked solid in the end of blowout games. He has a very good deep ball but with the wind etc will that be a factor.

Trenches win this game and with how bad the UM o-line was last week that worries me. Michigan needs to make a few plays on defense today, no doubt to help out. This is a pesky little game that they cannot overlook.

Leaning +25 right now. Still evaluating...

Just a couple thoughts.

Michigan is a fraud. Has been since august. There is a reason peppers plays every down...... ur team just aint that good. Imagine bama or ohio state having to put "their" best player in for every play. It wreaks of an average team seriously lacking talent. And "their" best player woukdnt even be the best player on ohio state or bamas D..... kinda puts it into perspective....

Peppers for heisman Is a joke. See above

Penn state would get worked in a playoff game and any @sshat that thinks they should go to a playoff because they deserve too. Must be on the participation trophy bandwagon. Perhaps u were stuck on the nipple a day or year too long.

And to the guy who was worried about iowa and not ohio state. I ask you why??? Do u seriously believe this talent starved michigan team is going to line up in i formation and beat a more talented better coached team on the road? Going on the road isnt michigans strong suit and their schedule didnt do any favors in helping them prepare. Whats ur angle?? Winged helmets? Angry players from ohio that ohio state didnt want? Jake butt and jabrill peppers may start on ohio state. The rest of their roster is a solid NO! sans gary he would rotate in.

3 wins against top 10.

Nothing more, nothing less. No other team in America can say that.

Bar

U are correct. Not till next weekend that is. And if by some act of god ohio state loses that game. Which is the only way michigan walks out of Columbus with a W. I will bet my 401k that bama sodamizes michigan. Itll get ugly really fast.

GTFOH Trader Joe, Michigan may not be a national champion this year but they are more than likely better than whatever 4th team they put in playoffs if we lose to OSU. Michi has lost one game by a fg at end, OSU lost to PSU and were dominated on the LOS, Michigan beat that same PSU team by 39. Something Michigan is better prepared to do to OSU on the LOS.

You could argue at this point every team outside of Bama is a fraud, all have a loss or two now they maybe should not have lost or had no business losing to.

I think conditions favor Michigan today. IU is all about throwing that deep ball. The qb doesn't look to run and their run game seemed more of an excuse us let us run the ball now against PSU. Michigan not letting IU run. IU defense better than I thought and we have a backup qb in but i don't expect that much of a drop off based on our style of play. Find the tight end, hit the short wr and expose the IU corners for what they are, over aggressive. And pound that rock, win the LOS and break their will. IU has to be deflated after last week and their best chance to go bowling is vs PU next week. Hail!

Weather really hurts Michigan here because it will limit the number of times Lagow drops back. Wolverines likely eat him alive both with their pressure and his willingness to attempt to throw into tight windows (errr into completely covered guys). But they may just line up and try to run every down if the weather is crappy. I think O'korn is fine at QB but again, Indy DL has played well all year and unless there is the threat of pass, they should at least be competitive up front against Michigan. I think normally a team off a loss like michigan had would be tough to back the following week but with all the other losses last week, everything is still on the table for Michigan so they could easily be very inspired.

Seems like too many pts given all that.

I just want both michigan and tosu to win for the drama of their game. I don't think much separates the two teams to be honest. slight talent edge to TOSU, slight coaching edge (maybe?), slight motivation edge to Michigan (Maybe?). In other words, it is going to be one big play, one special teams play, 1 extra turnover in that game imo ... cannot wait. I almost always cheer for TOSU (born in Dayton, lots of family are tosu fans) but I am so scared of the miscarriage of justice that would be a TOSU playoff bid without winning their division that I almost want Michigan to win. Who cares ..... it will be a real football game with real defenses.

For today, I think you could blindly bet the under in every BIG game and profit. Hard to imagine you would not.

Cub mentioned Armstrong not likely fwiw.

Ya tend to agree that after Bama, there is a large set of teams within two pts of eachother.

Strange week for me. I usually don't bet a whole lot of B1G games, but I'm heavily invested this week with Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana and Penn State. I even bet the OSU/MSU UNDER. What can I say? I really like them all.

Interesting way to look at it on Lagow. Obviously very turnover prone but I think IU only chance here is to chuck it deep and let his big WRs go get it. Kid has an arm no doubt, still erratic. Turnovers key to a cover today. I can't lay that with any confidence though, IU d underrated and The Game next week.

Liking the Huskers a bit today, any word on Hills?

To further HUNTs point, only the SEC can hold a candle to what the B1G is offering this year. The PAC 12 and Big 12 are flat out brutal though I think the depth of the PAC 12 is improving. ACC very top heavy, Pitt saving their face. SEC has two really good teams, Bama and LSU. That is it. Wisco beat LSU though and probably the 4th best team in the big 10, well third with psu injuries.
What you think Wisky vs LSU on a neutral would be this Saturday?
