Anthony Davis Not An All Star

twinkie13

In transit, arriving late.
So much NBA knowledge here. What do you all say? Pretty pathetic I say. Everyone in the Speed thread has him in the 7 best...strange he didn't make it, and sad.

ANTHONY DAVIS: Davis missed out on a Western Conference All-Star berth because he's 20 years old and his team is not very good. It's not because of his skills or his stats. Davis is a defensive juggernaut, a 20-point-per-game scorer and the league's next superstar. How's this for consistency? In Davis' first 36 games played, he failed to score in double figures just once, a game where he scored seven points in 10 minutes before leaving with a broken hand. The 2012 draft's first overall pick is averaging a double-double and easily leads the NBA with 3.3 blocked shots per game. And many of those blocks are mind-blowing. One would think Davis will be named as an injury replacement for Kobe Bryant.

true about baseball. But I guess that's cause of the World Series or something. He's a stud he should be there. I'm just saying I don't take the nba all star thing seriously. The coaches vote I believe.

Fans for starters, coaches for reserves, coaches can not vote for their own players..

bleacherreport.com has a pretty good write up on the players...
Kobe won't play so hopefully the new commish selects Davis to replace him..

Seriously, one of the top 5 players in the league right now, imo.

It's Scott Brooks that's coaching the West and picked the reserves, right?

Like I said... Bullshit

He's missed a shit ton of games this year; hard to argue against him not being on because of that IMO.

Anthony Davis made my All-Star team. He's not a top 5 player, but he is on his way to developing a game similar to the Tim Duncan. He leads the league in blocks, and is going to be a 20 12 and 3 (blocks guy). Someone pointing out it's a popularity contest, and it is, but Davis made my team. John Wall did not.

Biggest snubs in terms of numbers:
Anthony Davis
DeMarcus Cousins
Mike Conley
Goran Dragic
Chandler Parsons
Lance Stephansons

Someone said team record effects his chances…fair enough 19-26 in the West where it is far more competitive yes definitely might have an effect but if we're looking based on team records lets take a look at the east. Kyrie Irving is playing for a 16-30 team, Carmelo Anthony is playing for a 19-27, but we all know if they were not on that team….oh dear how many wins would they have.

The "missing time" angle should be thrown out the window, he's played 37 games and whereas a guy like Kevin Durant has played 45, so he's missed approximately 2 weeks which isn't a "shit load" of time that some are saying. Chris Paul has played only 34 games, Kobe has played…..6, again popularity contest.

Now in terms of why he was not picked by Scott Brooks and why Dwight Howard was in instead of him.
Dwight Howard 18.1pg 12.4rpg 1.7 assist 0.9 stls 1.7 blocks
Anthony Davis 20.4pg 10.4rpg 1.4 assist 1.5 stls 3.3blks

Very good numbers from both, but again Dwight has more brand recognition, is on a winning team.

Disappointing to not see The Brow there as he is the face of the Pelicans franchise, but he's also quite young and really big deal if he doesn't make it as people said it's about popularity votes.

Now the one snub I thought was just wtf is Joe Johnson ahead of Lance Stephanson….what a fucking joke that goes to show you how irrelevant team record is for picking an All Star.

Myabe I'm in the minority, but I think he's top 5 as well. LBJ, Durant, Paul, Love, Davis

Boogie is a huge snub as well. Lillard, Hibbert, and Johnson are the ones that stand out to me as shouldn't have made it.

Cmon H...he's missed 8 games.....out of 45. He's played in 37 of 45 games so far this year. I would hardly classify that as missing "a shit ton of games".

Wow, really - not Lillard.... First why not, second who do you think deserves over him?

Fantasy numbers don't lie... He's #2 in fantasy average stats per game (Durant is #1, CP3 is #3). He averages a double-double with 20+ and 10+, shoots 52% from the field and is a very good ft shooter for a big man at 76%. Also gets 1.5 steals a game, leads the league in blocks at 3.3 (almost double Dwight Howard's 1.7 bpg), and, only turns it over 1.7 times per game (compared to Love 2.3, Aldridge 1.8, Horford 2.2, Millsap 2.4, Cousins 3.4).

Maybe people just don't realize how great of a player Unibrow is since he's in a small market on a shitty team.

I believe the Blazers can still achieve their record without Lillard, but

are you trying to say Aldridge is an all star regardless of lillard on the team and lillard needs Aldridge?

take away Aldridge from that line up, Lillard's assists go down.
Take away Lillard, you still have Batum and Matthews with the pace there.

Lillard is good but he's part of a system that works to his style. Aldridge has been a monster all year long while Lillard has gone very streaky.
Also Aldridge had put up similar numbers even before Lillard came aboard.
