Andy Reids Kids are Drug Addicts

I dunno if anyone outside of Philly has seen this. Pretty crazy. Within hours of one another, two of Reids sons get arrested - one for running a red light and crashing into some lady while high on heroine and the other for threatening a guy with a gun.

Eagles coach's sons under investigation

<!-- begin body-content --> PHILADELPHIA - Two of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid's sons are under investigation, one for suspicion of pointing a gun at a motorist, the other for a car accident just hours later, after which police said he admitted using heroin.

Britt Reid was questioned by police after a man matching his description in a sport-utility vehicle registered to Andy Reid and his wife brandished a weapon at another driver during an argument Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Authorities served a search warrant later Tuesday at the home the 21-year-old shares with his parents in suburban Philadelphia. Police said they seized a shotgun and a handgun, along with containers of white powder or residue from the vehicle.

No charges have been filed, but police gave the following account of the incident:

A man matching Britt Reid's description got out of a sport-utility vehicle and yelled at another motorist, then returned to his SUV and pulled out a handgun. He then pointed the gun directly at the other driver, smiled and took off, but the other motorist took down his license plate number.

From the vehicle, police recovered a shotgun, ammunition, a container holding eight clear baggies with white residue, a container with white powder, four small white pills, and a pharmacy bottle holding a green leafy substance, according to a list obtained by The Associated Press.

A pistol and ammunition were also seized from the house.

Andy Reid was on vacation and not at home at the time of the search. He returned home Wednesday.

On the same day as the alleged road-rage incident, Britt Reid's older brother, Garrett, was found with drug paraphernalia after his sport-utility vehicle collided with another vehicle in nearby Plymouth Township, police said.

According to a police affidavit obtained by WPVI-TV, a Plymouth Township police officer observed a triple beam scale and the butt of a handgun in the SUV Garrett Reid had been driving.

Officers detained Garrett Reid and recovered two used hypodermic needles and a knife. One officer said Reid was unable to follow simple directions or understand what was told to him.

In a statement to police, the 23-year-old Garrett Reid said he had used heroin earlier in the day, admitted he was speeding at the time of the accident and said he did not know what color the traffic light was when he went through the intersection, according to the affidavit.

Police requested a search warrant for the SUV, but it was not immediately clear if investigators had executed the warrant.

Police said Thursday that Garrett Reid was taken to a hospital for toxicology tests, but the results were not yet available. The case remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

Andy Reid didn't have any immediate comment on the incidents, Eagles spokesman Derek Boyko said.

William J. Winning, a lawyer representing Garrett and Britt Reid, released a statement in which he declined to comment on the specifics of the investigations.

"We are fully cooperating with law enforcement officials in that regard and will continue to do so," Winning said. "Until these matters are resolved, however, neither the Reid family or I will have any further comment and we ask that the privacy of the Reid family be respected."

Prosecutors said Thursday they couldn't comment on the investigations.

I mean I can understand weed or even see some coke or whatever...but HEROIN!?

I dunno, maybe its just a personal thing, but i draw the line when theres needles involved

Supposedly RUMOR around Philly has it Andy Reid may 'take a year off' to deal with his family problems

His replacement for the year would be Marty Morningweg

Just shoot me now

His replacement for the year would be Marty Morningweg

Yeah, that would be bad, bad, bad. Marty has proven to be not that bad of a play-caller, but he is NOT a good HC. The Eagles would be far better served to bring in someone as the interm head coach on a one year contract as an absolute place holder. Now, we've seen how well that works (cough, Jeff Garcia), but it would be better for the team.

And, honestly, you know who I think would be the best choice for it? Dick Vermeil. He's nearly 70, or at 70. He can't do it for long, he wouldn't need to do a lot, just steer the ship.

Of course, this is all speculation, Andy will likely stay. However, I'm pretty sure Andy's mormon, so this has to hit him as hard as anybody because if there's any religion that stresses family above all else, it's them.

That would be horrible, i have a idea for some family therapy for Andy's Reid's kids, do to them what my dad did to me. Beat the living hell out of them, they'll get it one way or another. Tough Love is most effective option.

This is the kid that pulled the gun on the guy in the car (who told police that "Some white kid trying to be a gangsta pulled a gun on me")

He looks like he needs the shit beaten out of him

who goes to court in jeans and a hoody? Who is he? Bill Belichicks kid?

i mean im not sayin the kid was sellin coke, but allegedly, they found 8 small baggies of coke, a small container with coke in it (head stash) and a scale...

he coulda just been hookin up his friends or i dunno, breaking his stash into more manageable sizes, but it looks pretty damn shady to me...

One of the pansies got a misdemeanor, which should have been a felony.

When you can afford a good lawyer, things like that happen.

I really feel for Andy here, because this whole thing suddenly becomes a referendum on him as a parent--he and his wife, really--and they look like they were out to lunch. In Andy's case, literally.

It's got to be tearing this guy up.

Eagles' Reid to take leave until mid-March

<!-- begin text11 div -->PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles coach Andy Reid will leave the team for a month to deal with family issues, a decision that comes less than two weeks after two sons got into separate legal trouble on the same day.

The team said Reid's leave of absence will last through mid-March. Eagles president Joe Banner was to hold an afternoon news conference to discuss the matter.

Reid is also the team's head of football operations. If he does not rejoin the Eagles until the middle of next month, he will miss the NFL scouting combine and the start of free agency. NFL teams may begin voluntary offseason workouts March 19. Reid will be back for the NFL draft April 28-29.

Garrett Reid, 23, tested positive for heroin after he caused a traffic accident Jan. 30, police said. No charges have been filed, but prosecutors are looking at the case. Police have said he could be charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Britt Reid, 21, was arraigned on drug and weapons charges. He is accused of pointing a handgun at another driver following a dispute and faces a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license as well as misdemeanor charges of lying to authorities, simple assault, making terroristic threats and possession of a controlled substance.

The cynic in me says this is a good thing...

Now if someone else is calling the personnel shots maybe theyll actually sign a good linebacker and a big back in free agency - something that Reid has stubbornly refused to do over the years

However the realist in me knows that this is just gonna be the excuse for the Eagles to do NOTHING in free agency and the scapegoat for an inevitable shitty draft

It does feel like, at least could be, the reason the Birds do nothing in free agency. Although, they don't have a ton of money this year. They've got a little, and maybe they'll get a little back from guys like Hood leaving, but I think they'll cry about not having the money more than anything.

The question is, since they do have a tiny bit of money, will they use that on Stallworth. The odds on that aren't the greatest based on the Birds' history.

What will be very interesting is what happens with the draft. Granted, it's not for some time, but without Andy at the combine and scouting for the next month (or more), the rest of the staff will really have to step up and you can almost guarantee their recommendations will be just a little different from what they've been in the past because they have a little more freedom than they're used to.

id be shocked if they re-signed stallworth

i want them to, but i dont think it happens

i saw theyre only like 3.5 million under the cap? what the hell happened? where did they spend that money?? theyre usually like 20 million under and its not like they really signed anyone big...i dont get it

With a few REALLY good strong side linebackers possibly available this offseason (Briggs from Chi, and Thomas from Balt.), the Eagles will most likely go w/ Chris Gocong, a second year player who was hurt all last year.

I think they're more than that under the cap, but it's not much. I think they're like eight or nine million under because it increases this year. They re-signed a bunch of guys during the year to long-term deals, mostly linemen. But they got the deal done with B-Dawk before the year started, too.

There's almost zero chance the Eagles go after an LB in free agency. Really, the year to do that was last year and they didn't. They drafted Gaither, who I'm really starting to like and who looks like will start next year. And then, as Believe says, they love Gocong who we outside of the organization really know nothing about because he was hurt all last year.

The Eagles are very much about 'ifs' this year. If Gocong is as good as they think, the Eagles might have a decent LB corps for a change. If Kearse comes back healthy the Eagles should have good depth on the D-lin again. If Donovan comes back healthy, the offense should be good to go. If they re-sign Stallworth the receiving corps seems set. If Jeremy Bloom regains his pre-olympic form the Eagles might have found a kick returner.

If, if, if, if, if.

Yeah, they signed AJ today which wasn't a shock. The truth is, somebody's going to pay Garcia more than he's worth--he earned it with his play this year. And it's not the Eagle way to over-pay guys, especially not a backup QB.

I don't think they ever had any intention of keeping him. I think they would have liked to, but they knew the deal. Garcia is going to go get his money. The sad thing is that it will come out after the fact that the Eagles never made any real, reasonable attempt to try to bring him back. Even though we'll all know they couldn't have afforded him, the fact is, that they didn't try will rub some fans--including me--the wrong way a bit.

Now, if they do the exact same thing with Stallworth, which they very well may, it will be even more reason to be disgruntled. Because not being willing to buck up for a backup QB is one thing, not being willing to pay for a starting WR when all you have behind him is unproven guys, is quite another.

Stallworth wants some OUTRAGEOUS offer including 16mil up front. It is nuts.

Frankie...Im hearing Gruden could be on his way out if he has another losing year. Might not be able to experiment w/ a full year of Sims or Gradkowski.

Stallworth wants some OUTRAGEOUS offer including 16mil up front. It is nuts.

Sweet lord, that would be the end of him in Philly. Ugh.

Why on earth would he try to . . . ugh.

Also, rumor is Gruden would like to come back to Philly at some point.

Which could be both good and bad.
