<!-- end page tools --> <!-- begin story body --> <!-- template inline -->A reserve Texas Tech defensive back was arrested by federal agents early Thursday and charged with dealing cocaine.
Junior De'Shon Sanders, arrested in downtown Lubbock at 1:30 a.m. Thursday by agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, has been charged with felony possession with intent to distribute in excess of 50 grams of cocaine, DEA public affairs spokesman David Ausiello said Thursday.
Sanders is being held in Lubbock County jail, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. It is not clear if Sanders has legal representation.
Texas Tech associate athletic director Chris Cook confirmed that Sanders is a housemate of All-American receiver Michael Crabtree and junior defensive end Brandon Sesay. Neither Crabtree nor Sesay has been implicated in the investigation of Sanders, a law enforcement official with knowledge of the case said.
However, the official said, both players were in the apartment when DEA agents searched Sanders' room in the middle of the night, following his arrest.
According to The Associated Press, indictment alleges Sanders and others "known and unknown to the grand jury" committed the offenses in June in Lea County, N.M., where Sanders' hometown of Hobbs is located.
The 22-year-old Sanders is a transfer from City College of San Francisco. He has appeared in all 12 games for the Red Raiders and made four tackles.
Cook said the school didn't have confirmation of the arrest and had no comment. Coach Mike Leach was out of town and couldn't immediately be reached on his cell phone.
Senior writer Ivan Maisel covers college football for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Nothing to do with Crabtree. You gotta live with people in college and shit happens

Crabtree may be an accomplice. But way too early to tell and clearly not enough evidence at this time to arrest him.

In an interesting statement, Crabtree today said he's coming back for his junior season. Gotta think that the way this plays out may change his decision.

I take it you didn't do well on the reading comprehension part of the SAT.

I'm assuming 50 grams is the point where it becomes intent to distribute.

770 on the verbal, but thanks. (520 math, became an accountant, go figure)

I was just being a smart ass. :10_5_137:

cant control what your college roommates do. i highly doubt crabtree had anything to do with this given what he would be risking. pretty weak that hes even getting the "what if" seeing as his name hasnt been mentioned in any reports. I bet if it was Harrell this wouldn't even be a thread

If a roommate is dealing, you're going to get looked at by the cops too. I don't care if it's Crabtree, Harrell, or Jesus Christ.

The fact that Crabtree wasn't charged himself is a good sign. However, depending on what they find he may be charged later. They will continue to look at him as an accomplice.

Crabtree doesn't know he has a roommate who is moving some serious amounts of cocaine and making some pretty serious cash for a college kid? Rigghhhttt....

Wonder what kind of house they live in?

im just saying im sure he wasnt part of it. did he know? probably. but seeing as he hasnt been charged or anything to infer that he had anything to do with it would be silly

definitely..oh well...I wish him the best, know he has a lot of family problems..IF he does go. Beaver reporting it's TCU or TTech.

don't know TTech's RB depth chart at all but I can see him being a good fit there. Unlike most transfers where im bitter I'll still root for mcguffie wherever he ends up

:36_11_6: Nothing wrong with having a roomie who supplies the party favors, right?

I hate to pry into someone's personal life, but you got me curious bro. What's goin on?

His brother has a lot of issues I guess and Dad isn't around much from what I have heard..plus his GF paid her own way to Michigan to be with him AND be a cheerleader...I think she is broke and can't afford it anymore...to top it all off the kid has had 3 concussions and may never play again..a year off will do him good tho.

LMAO

50 grams..your fucked in Michigan

25 is the cutting point from misdemeanor to felony...for obvious reasons...28 grams is an ounce..do the math wiz kids..tiener 1.75 and an 8 ball is 3.5....hence an ounce is 28...

50 is serious shit....

Some states...just being in the same room with possesion your fucked...

If I was in a car with a buddy with an ounce on him...I would face felony charges automatically...

Intent to distribute is having it(whatever drug) in seperate baggies...you could split an eigther in half in baggies and get caugfht and thats intent to distribute...

Btw, if Crabtree was the roomate..I guarnatee he was doing rippers..no doubt..college life is partying..its the 2-3 percent of college athletes that get caught...

Shit..best defensive player ever was also the biggst blow addict

If DEA goes for you, you are federally fucked now. It's not some local meatball that is trying to get you caught, these guys are big boys and have many assets at there disposal to catch big felons which apparently they think this tech player is.

Because Harrell will never play a down in the NFL and Crab is a future star?

Put the race card back in the deck and lets leave it there. :shake:

If you think this is the only school where NCAA players push drugs, you yourself are on drugs. They live in a 3 bedroom apartment in the same complex as the rest of the team - it's obviously paid for by the school (along with the rest of the scholarship football players).

If you are a student in the know, this story was not surprising.

My roomate in college used to supply to all the athletes at our campus.

you know he knew it was going on.. doesnt mean he was actually involved though.. but everyone thats been in college who has roomates, especially on the same football team, has an idea of what they are involved in.

I would have turned into Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction if I would've did that in one line.

Did that in the 80's, 21st birthday. :seeya:
Laid out in the number 21, but I did take a short break between the 2 and the 1.

Then went to AC the next day with my parents. I was still all banged up from the night before, and won over $14,000 in 2 hours playing video poker and slots (won $10,000 on a $5 slot machine, 1st pull)

Best birthday ever.

holy shit 3rd. good story

You should see the jackpot picture the casino took, I looked like 5 miles of bad interstate.

Last time I combined the 2 I dropped over $1,000 playing blackjack in about 20 minutes, now I keep my vices in their own separate compartments.

The day of my 21st birthday, with was with my family in Vegas (I have 13 relatives that live there).

After dinner at Caesar's, I placed some bets at the sportsbook, then took $200 to the nickel slots and played with my grandpa on one side, and my mom on the other. I proceeded to hit 8 $200+ mini-jackpots from the bonus rounds in the period of 30-40 minutes, and walked away up over $2200. For me, that was a boatload of money.

Each time the jackpot reached $200 or more, the machine froze up, and the roaming cashier would come and pay me. The same guy paid me each time, and by the 6th small jackpot, he said "This is the craziest thing I've ever seen". Not in terms of money, but more in terms of the number of times I made it all the way through the bonus rounds. By the seventh jackpot, like 3-4 cashiers were coming over, just to congratulate me.

I pocketed the $2200, and went up another $240 on my bets.

The following weekend, my buddies took me back to Vegas again. Those stories I cannot divulge.
