The ownership of Capping The Game and representatives from 5 Dimes Sportsbook & Casino are proud to provide the community at Capping The Game with a monthly baseball capping contest.

Inaugural Contest Starts May 1, 2007 ends May 31, 2007

Rules

Winner: $125 Funded 5Dimes Account
2nd: $75 Funded 5Dimes Account
3rd: $50 Funded 5Dimes Account

  • Each member must provide CTG with their 5Dimes account number before they participate in the monthly contest. All account info will be considered confidential on the part of CTG Partnership. An account w/ 5Dimes is mandatory for this pool as 5Dimes will pay the monthly winners directly into their accounts. Members who have registered through CTG banners and have deposited money into their 5Dimes account will also be eligible for an extra $50 cash bonus provided by CTG if they win the monthly contest. Register for your 5DIMES account by clicking here
  • When registering your account please enter Marketing Code: 5D1771311
  • The monthly contests will begin on the 1st day of each month, and end on the final day of the month. The winner at the end will be the member who has won the most units...in other words, the highest unit total at the end of the month wins the contest.
  • Each member must create one thread in the new "5Dimes Baseball Contest Forum" to post their wagers in for the month. The thread should be titled with their username and may not be edited at any time. Please only make one post a day in your thread, if possible. If any change is necessary, create a new post...w/out editing the original posting. However, all wagers are final 5 minutes prior to first pitch.
  • No new member entries will be accepted after the 10th of each month
  • Each wager is for 1 or 2 units only.
  • You're betting to win 1 or 2 units on favorites and you are risking 1 or 2 units on dogs. (i.e. Yanks -150 would be risking 1.5 to win 1 and Indians +130 would be risking 2 to win 2.6).
  • A minimum of 50 units of wagers must be made over the course of the contest. A maximum of 100 units of wagers may be made over the course of the contest month. There is a maximum of 5 units of wagers in a given day. CTG considers a "wager" as a play posted in your thread.
  • All lines will be opening lines from 5Dimes and include sides, totals, and run lines only. The lines for the day will be sticky'd by a member of the CTG staff the evening prior to the games.
  • In the event of a pitching change all ML, RL, or Total wagers placed beforehand will be void and will not count against your units wagered for the month. The new line to be posted by CTG reps will be used for that game
  • All records will be verified by CTG staff. If there are any irregularities that members results may be voided at the discretion of the CTG staff.
Good Luck to All Members

Looks good Fondy....so does it start next month?

It probably is in here somewhere, I just probably read over it:drink:

Just to clarify the Contest rule stated below, we should post in the thread our CTG username, or our 5dimes username. I am assuming our CTG one, but just wanted to clarify.

"Each member must create one thread in the new "5Dimes Baseball Contest Forum" to post their wagers in for the month. Yes. You will have one thread for just yourself to put your plays in for the duration of the contest.

You must PM us your 5dimes account number before participating.

What bets are allowed? Any bet that can be made at 5 dimes which would be fairly wide. Can we make first 5 bets or alternate runline bets. For that matter regular runline bets? I personally would like the loose style but not sure you actually intend that.

"All lines will be opening lines from 5Dimes and include sides, totals, and run lines only."

Otherwise we'd have to wait to long to get the lines up as there are too many that are posted the day of the game. One other clarification - No Parlays allowed.

Please send a PM to the "Administrator" with your 5Dimes username/account number.

Thank you.

This may be a dumb question but the picks that we post... do they have to be actual wagers we make at 5dimes? Otherwise, why is it required that we have a 5dimes account? Is that just cuz they're the sponsor and it encourages people to sign up for an account there?

all wagers posted can be 'play' money alby. No deposit is necessary at 5Dimes to be eligible, just an account., but should you win thats where the prize money is going to be deposited to obviously

Making a deposit will allow you to be eligible for the 50.00 bonus we are providing on top of the prize pool for the winner if they had made a deposit. :shake:

Yep...Santa's right on. This is a free monthly contest, with absolutely no strings attached.

The "wagers" are for contest purposes only...meaning that they don't have to actually be placed at 5Dimes, or any other offshore for that matter.

Also, a 5Dimes acct is necessary to open...but only because they are the sponsor, and because contest prizes will be paid directly into the winner's acct at 5Dimes. That said...no deposit is necessary to open a 5Dimes acct to participate in the contest either.

This is all for fun...and for the challenge. So sign up and compete against the rest of the forum. Show the world your baseball knowledge, and put your capping ability to the test. There's nothing to lose. And there's nothing as cool as this anywhere else on the net.

Get in the game, boys & girls.

how do you pm the account and to who?

all you have to do is set up a 5dimes acct...no funding is necessary, so it's totally simple. the only reason for this is because winners of this contest will be paid directly into their 5Dimes acct.

anyways, once that's done...which is as easy as creating an e-mail address/acct...then PM the admistrator of this site with only the 5D number. you can find the amdinistrator under the member list.

:shake:

Quick Question....

In the rules it says 100 units max for the month.

If Minnesota with Santana on the hill were -350 and I wanted two units on that, does it count as 7 units or 2 toward the overall number?

Thanks

7 units, UMC.

jsut like in the real world, you gotta pay to play a heavy fav.

that said...you couldn't do your example above, because there's a 5 unit per day limit as well.
you could wager 3.5 to win 1, in that example...and still have 1.5 to play with, if you should choose to make another play for the day.

So for the total of 100 allowed, it is calculated by risk not reward?

Betting a dog of +200 for two units only counts for two not four

Just double-checking

i'm worried i'd confuse things, if i tried to explain in detail...so jsut think about it as how the wager would work in the real world.

but to answer your questions...yes to both.

the other way would allow winning on a fav to be doing so at basically even money...becasue you wouldn't have to pay to take the fav if you win...if that makes sense.

not sure of the ratio or %...but the -300 fav is WAY more likely to hit than a +200 dog.

anyways, everyone's got 5 units a day to wager...and 100 per month...so all 5 obviously don't have to be bet in full each day.
but if i was putting that much into your offshore acct per day, and you wanted to take a -200 fav for 5 units...would an offshore spot you an extra 5 units so you could wager 10 units to win 5???

i know it's confusing...but that's what i mean about it being like it would in reality.

yanks, your rational is contrary to the rules it seems.

"Each wager is for 1 or 2 units only"

"...5 Units max per day"

One then could not wager on Minnesota using the above line of -350 because it would exceed the 2 unit cap on a single play.

By my understanding this is how I could bet using my daily allotment of 5:

2 Units Minnesota -300
2 units Yankees -300
1 Unit Washington +200

If I were to lose em all, I would be 0-3 -13 Units after this day. Winnning them all it would read 3-0 +6 Units.

COrrect me if I'm wrong, that's just the way I understand it.

On favorites you're wagering to win 1 or 2 units, on dogs you're wagering 1 or 2 units. If you wager on a favorite that is -170, you're either betting 1.7 units to win 1 or betting 3.4 to win 2. The most amount of units a day you are allowed to wager is 5 unites.

So you can take a team for -250 for 2 units and it would count as 5 units maximum for the day, and would count five units towards your monthly min/max. If you took a team that was +260 and put 2 units on it you could win 5.2 units, but would only count as 2 units towards your monthly/daily min/max.

Exactly...

Hope it all makes sense, guys...and turns out to be a pretty straight-forward ordeal. We apologize if the rules were a bit confusing, in the way they were worded.
We went back and forth on this contest for a couple weeks, trying to put it together the best we could. But just because we know what me meant, that doesn't mean we effectively communicated it in the contest's description.

Just saying it's definitely cool to ask questions, so we're all on the same page. Much better to work anything out now, then halfway thru the first month.

Anyways...opening lines will be posted asap for 5/1.
Let's get this puppy started!!! Good luck.

haha just the units thing is throwing me off :-\

Just assume you have $500 to wager a day. You can wager $100 or $200 a day on dogs, or you can risk a bit more so that you're winning a $100 or $200 on favorites. Once that $500 runs out though in a day you're out of money and can't wager anymore. Over the course of the contest For easier math in us grading it, you probably won't use that $500 every day (hence why you need to wager 1/2 units on dogs and you're wagering to win 1/2 units on faves)... Over the course of the contest you must wager between $5,000 and $10,000 total (50-100 units, with not more than 5 on any one day).

Count me in. Been patiently waiting for May to arrive. NOW, it's baseball time!!!!

My 5D's acct info is on the way, via PM to Admin.....this correct?

Thanks for the wonderful offer CTG...will be shooting over my 5 Dimes account info and will create a thread for my plays.

Good luck to everyone.....

is there a posting deadline each day or just as long as it is before the start of the first game we are picking?

Believe the rules say 5 minutes before first pitch. My assumption on that is if there is a Cubs game at noon, and you post at 4pm for night games you'd be fine, but if you wanted to make a play on the Cubs you need to have all your plays in by 11:55.

yeah it was basically that situation fondy that I was asking about. and what about weekends? so it is by the 5 min prior to the first game of the day? or just the first game you are picking?

sorry I am a bit slow today.

hey mods,

Still seeing some people risking in excess of 5 units for this contest. Just want to make sure everyone is on the same page

5 minutes before the game you are picking... $$$inmywallet, everyone that we noticed errors with have been notified. As I emailed them (and I'm sending cross singles with Jump), is that if they had a play for 1 unit (that would be voided) otherwise the last one listed for today will be voided.

I was just curious if there will be a sheet updated every so often to show the leaders and where a player stands? A leader board I should say...lol.

Just wondering if my Cubbies RL bet is voided due to rainout, standard procedure at most books including 5Dimes or is it different for the contest ? Cheers Steve
