SOLID CARD COMING FROM "DOWN UNDER" TONIGHT.





Been struggling myself over last couple month after starting the year off well in UFC. Still up nicely on the year and looking to get back on track later today.

• Should be a main event for the ages what with the recent history between these two, no love will be lost tonight. This will be DDP's first title defense, and he looks to run through the cerebral striking game of the 'Stylebender". His in-your-face style and ability to walk through punches gives him huge confidence and a decent advantage if he can indeed walk through Izzy's strikes. Adesanya will be well-rested, that's for sure, but will we get the best version of the striking sensation. I believe Du Plessis will be stronger and throw harder shots. Izzy will be tricky early and may bad a couple early rounds, but eventually I believe DDP makes it ugly and uses Adesanya's pride against him, turning the fight into a slugfest and getting the later TKO.
• Tom Nolan is the real deal and is setup with Alex Reyes a fighter with only 2 fights in 7 years in the UFC, both brutal 1st round KO losses? The odds are ridiculous, but the under and 1st round KO should both be very live options.

• Nicholl (8-0) debuts in his hometown vs the vet Aguilar (10-2) in the opener. Nicoll has 4 straight KO's but has not faced anywhere near the level of competition as Agular. Nichol is a nice prospect with some pop, but likely needs more seasoning to compete at this level. Taking the dog!
• Song-Glenn should be a banger as long as it lasts. I think Song has the power and technique to finish the fight early on.
• Nolan should be easy and quick

Fight Of The Night: Dan Hooker vs Mateusz Gamrot​

Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot put on a show, delivering the back-and-forth battle everyone was hoping for. Gamrot came out strong, landing some solid shots before attempting to take it to the ground, but Hooker held his own and even landed a strong shot towards the end of the first round. The second was a toss-up, with Hooker landing the bigger hits and Gamrot scoring a takedown. By the third, they were trading punches, with Hooker shutting down most of Gamrot's grappling attempts. In the end, the judges gave the hand raise to Hooker after an awesome scrap between two top lightweights.

Performance Of The Night: Kai Kara-France​

Kai Kara-France made a triumphant return to the Octagon, securing a dominant first-round stoppage over recent title challanger Steve Erceg. After landing a powerful left hand that dropped Erceg, Kara-France wasted no time finishing the fight, putting himself back in the flyweight title conversation. This emotional win marked his first victory since March 2022 and could lead to him getting a shot at the title sooner than we think.

Carlos Prates started the UFC 305 main card with a bang, becoming the first to knock out veteran Li Jingliang and adding another impressive victory to his standout rookie year.
