2nd Half Season Win O/U

i've found this much easier than the full-season RSW, so please come in and add thoughts about a team you're thinking about backing or fading for the 2nd half of the MLB season

I generally compare home and away games, opponents above or below .500 and potentials for trades either on the selling side or buying side

Also, selfishly if someone could post the regular season win numbers either at open or close (or anytime really) i will forever be in your debt
 
Curious to see number on Wash - they have slept walked through the first half and even though I don't expect anyone to push them in the division they will get healthy and compete for the top seed in the NL.
 
I expect the Nats to play a stronger 2H. RH bullpen situation improved with addition of Carpenter but still expect them to maybe try to add some bullpen setup help down the stretch to replace the losses of Clippard and Stammen from last year. Werth and Zimmerman expected returns just add more depth to the team overall. Would love to see them get a LH starter and dump Gio.

that division is awful and both NYM and ATL are due to collapse

the lineup is so much longer with Soler back, not a huge fan of my decision to take their under instead of SD though the bullpen gives me hope

my pre-season plays look like 1-2 at the moment:
BOS u86.5 +105
CHC u83 +105
SEA to win the AL West +145
 
Who is the best team in the AL? I think you can make a good case that the 4 best teams in the league are in the NL: Dodgers, Cards, Nats, Pirates - I'm not even sure the best AL team is 5th right now. I'm looking for a NL to win the WS future.
 
Thought SD may have been a good 2h option until these last 2 weeks hit. Looked like their staff was rounding into form but team doesn't have enough bats.

Not this year anyway but I think they would consider trading him if they could get another LH starter. His contract is 12M in 2016, and 12M in 2017 (w/500K buyout), and 12M vesting option in 2018. He just continues to piss me off with his lack of command and free passes issued.

KC I guess? But they can look really bad at times and seem to only have a bullpen

i think he's weak-minded, so i can understand your frustrations as an actual fan of the team he plays for

Do all books offer this and when do they come out?

I think tb and atl are prime tank candidates.

Twins Astros will fade.

Angels will have big 2nd half
as will mets if they get a bat in fa.
 
MIN 49-40 (22-51 needed for o70.5)
CHW 41-45 (41-35 needed for o81.5)
HOU 49-42 (27-44 needed for o75.5)
NYM 47-42 (35-38 needed for o81.5)
ATL 42-47 (32-41 needed for o73.5)
ARI 42-45 (31-45 needed for o72.5)

..really unfortunate ATL got swept in Denver and Grilli is done for the year as that will probably tick down a decent number

also strongly doubt the Mets trade any of the youngsters, Niese they've been trying but he won't command a good hitter and their big offseason move was signing Michael freakin' Cuddyer (and they stupidly gave away a 1st round pick for him, too)

A rotation that includes Guthrie, Volquez and Young are on pace to win 98 games. Nah, not going to happen. Cleveland are 11 behind, and i think that will be halved by the the end of August, making September very interesting.

don't agree with the OAK selection, lineup is too poor and defense is worse then the bullpen hasn't been very good either.

Do like the CLE selection, though I don't think DET is done
 
Braves 42-47 5 game losing streak. Team is ready to implode if they haven't already. Grilli gone, BP stank and overachieving starting pitching. I think this team overachieved big time to win 47% of their games. I see them winning less than 40% of their remaining games. they will likely go 28-45 or something worse than that.
 
i prefer the oak bet quite a bit more than the kc bet. their rotation has been bad and they've still been this good. 34 quality starts out of 86 games. ventura and duffy have won a combined 7 games with an ERA of 4.7. seems they can only get better.

Jays are looking to get creative for pitching and it might take a bat in that line up to make it happen:

As much as we don’t want to take away from the current 25, we bounced around some ideas and concepts. That’s not the path we want to go down but if we can’t seem to get what we want from a prospect standpoint we’ll need to open it up and be creative, similar to what Oakland and the Red Sox did last year with Jon Lester and (Yoenis) Cespedes. Looking at SD under for the second half, team already sent out feelers for Shields and the this year's project just didn't work out..time to retool.
 
I agree with Tim on Wash OVER, I have Houston OVER 74 pretty large (for me anyway...$500) for the season but truly expect them to fade in the 2H. Hope I'm wrong but don't like the way that they played the last 30 days.
 
take a look at the MIN schedule, they're all but done interleague play hosting PIT for two only and the rest are against the AL with a bunch of road games

Springer lost was big.

3-7 since springer went down...and that includes the game he got hurt and 6-4 prior 10 games..but they definitely miss him in the line up...If they do go get another arm it should be interesting though .

i can't imagine they thought they'd be in the race like they are so i wonder if they will actually make a move, though it sounds like their scouts have been all over the place looking at the Cuetos of the world

they have the pieces to make a move, don't think Houston's mindset is that they can win it all but man they could spring something i'm sure for someone with club control (much like the donaldson/lawrie trade)....I know we all think Beane would be crazy to deal Gray, but it wouldn't surprise me if Beane did move him at the right price...Houston would get club control until 2020 with Gray I believe too...

not saying that's the deal, but I dont' think they go rental unless they know they can sign said person or they go the route of a club control player like Sonny.
 
Anybody know where & when they will be posting 2H O/U? Know the Greek used to but not sure if they still do. Been a few years since I've played one.

i keep checking, maybe after the A-S game as that's where the books seem focused right now... Pretty sure both 5d and BOL had them last year and Bookmaker too probably

I'd probably be on BAL if they didn't trade Eduardo Rodriguez, it's amazing how much they gave up for one year of Miller (even if it made a bit of sense because they won the division)

NYY has more home games than road (BAL opposite) and a 4-game cushion if you're gonna make this play. Really like the BAL bullpen, but Miller/Betances are lights out and I'm pretty sure I'd take Tanaka/Pineda/Eovaldi/Nova/Sabathia over Chen/Ubaldo/Gausman/Gonzalez/Tillman. Prefer BAL lineup, but I'd take Girardi before Buck, too

Gibson Pelfrey Santana will fall apart soon as well. I am waiting for the losing 10 out of 12 games run from them, it's coming.
 
August 3rd to August 23rd is bad stretch for the Twins. I see their season going down during that time. $$$
 
From what I recall last season, 5dimes didn't post 2nd half win totals until early Friday morning. Not much of a window to actually see the totals & make wagers, especially since the first game tomorrow is at 2:15. I made my own totals & am just waiting to compare them when they finally come out. Don't think they can make the Phillies win total low enough for me to pass on. I took them pretty large at U 68.5 wins prior to the season & I see nothing pointing to anything resembling even a minor rebound this season. Hoping for a revised total of 56-57 wins. 5dimes does have division, pennant & world series prices up though. Pirates at +300 is pretty nice IMO. It was even nicer at +350 two days ago until it got bet down.
 
They're pitching has been excellent, but I think their offense will eventually come back to haunt them in the 2H & that could be enough for the Pirates to pull through. How many years can they have almost no power or speed & continue to score runs like they do?

well, they win with pitching and it's better than what PIT has. I also would prefer the StL lineup to PIT's by a landslide
 
Lowrie back fairly soon. Springer after August. Hard not to get angry with 2 teams. Reds and KC for what seems a real willingness to hurt other teams players.
