2014 CTG-1 Fantasy Bases League

OK, football's over, here's what we got.

12-team league, two teams have indicated they're not returning. Jump & Tide, sorry to see you gents go. Ivy, Gorgolon, & bjorks, in that order, have indicated interest in joining the league in the old thread. So Ivy & Gorgy, I'm counting you guys as in the 12, just confirm.

These are the teams, the ones in bold are confirmed coming back ...

I haven't sent any yahoo invites yet, bjorks, but I'm not yet sure we have another open spot. You're A#1 on the wait list. I'm going to give it a little more time for the previous guys in the league (and ivy) to confirm.
 
OK, everyone in bold at the top of the thread has checked in and confirmed. If any spots should open up for some reason, bjorks & FootballNut are first and second on the waiting list.

I have sent out the invites on yahoo. Could not find an e-mail address for Grind (it was "hidden" on last year's), and I don't have one for Gorgy, so if you two could PM me your e-mail addresses, I'll send your invites. I don't think (hopefully) that you will need a password to join or re-join, it didn't ask me for one in setting it up. I haven't changed any league settings, was pretty comfortable with what we've been going with.

I have tentatively set up the draft for Tuesday night, March 18th, at 9:30 pm EST. Can obviously change that, we haven't discussed that yet. But I kind of like that date as it's close to the start of the season (3/22), doesn't conflict with the NCAA tourney except maybe some scrubby play-in game, and doesn't conflict with St. Patrick's Day. Advise in this thread if that date and time works for you.

Let me know if any questions, issues, etc.

Update:

All invites have been sent. Smoke, hbomb, wreck, coverlicious, Compton Ballers and I have joined the league on yahoo. No rush, but do that if you haven't yet. I think it's a matter of clicking on a link in an email. No opposition yet to a draft night of 3/18, so rolling with that for now. Finally, to those on the wait list, and misschung, I believe CTG-2 is looking for one more squad.

Reply here thumbs up or down on the proposed draft night date. Let me know if any questions or probs.

(And wreck, I'll probably have yahoo predetermine the randomly generated snake draft order, but I'll warn you first. I've learned my lesson.)
 
I'll offer up the proposal to randomly generate the draft order so we know the order prior to draft night. It's something that we wanted to do in the NBA league, but never ended up doing it. A few websites can do this.

The window of draft dates is a bit tighter this season with the early start, first couple games in Australia, first game 3/22. I can't do 3/14-thru-3/16, going to be on the road that weekend, and celebrating St. Pat's on the 17th. I can probably do some evenings prior to 3/14 (or on 3/19, 3/20), but am going to stick with 3/18 for now barring stern objections. If you can make it work, Law, that'd be great.
 
I think Australia counts toward the first scoring period, lumped in there with the opening Sunday nighter on March 30, and then the first "real" Monday-Sunday week beginning March 31. I think that's how it's worked in past seasons, when they've had a couple games in Japan. (I wish MLB would ditch these international openers.) See no reason to not include them if we can draft by then ... also not sure if Yahoo makes excluding the early games an option.

I don't think Smoke sent the invites yet, aplous, I don't think I got one either. I just saw that Grind paid, so I logged into Leaguesafe and saw that the league had rolled over to the new season.

ALSO, this may draw a groan or two, but I have moved the draft back 30 minutes to 10:00 pm EST, same date, to accommodate the Compton Ballers squad. Guy's been in the league for a few years, is taking an exam that night but can race home by 10, doesn't want to auto-draft. Hope that's OK. Drink some coffee, or my late night drink of choice, another beer.

Cool. Time to get to work...

It looks like after the "Big 2," positions 3-12 are all about the same. After the big 2, the whole 1st round seems to carry some question marks (aside from Kershaw if you like a SP in round 1:confused2:).
