2022 Texas Rangers-Entire Season

yesterday was a nice start for the 2022 Texas Rangers

we signed Marcus Semien to a seven-year $175-million contract & Jon Gray four years for $56-million & finally Kole Calhoun a one year deal for $5.2 million

Seager or Story will be signed today due to the impending lockout & I won’t be shocked if we don’t sign a big starting pitcher as well

it’s nice to see ownership finally spending some money

The Gray signing is a nice upside play betting on his potential but the Semien deal is just awful. Daniels should have been fired for what he has done to this organization.

Daniels actually doesn’t have the final say anymore, but I do agree he’s done much more harm than good for our team
I wouldn’t give Semien 7 years, 4 was the perfect number

Corey Seager has signed a 10-year, $325 million deal

we should now be a .500 IF our starters do their thing
I’m very happy with these signings but will there be a 2022 season????
lock out coming Wednesday

not happy we traded Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the Twins for C Mitch Garver
Isiah’s time with the Twins was a few hours as he then got traded to the Yankees
if they don’t sign Story or Correa then he’ll be their opening day SS
Isiah was a solid player for us and he’s got to be very happy where he’s landed up
I wish him all the best

Once you signed Seager the writing was on the wall for Falefa. He is a very good defensive shortstop with not enough bat to play third.

I'm guardedly optimistic this season...of course, I'm loving the signings--I think Miller may be just what the clubhouse needs--and I'm quite excited about some tweaks I've seen so far. For instance, Eli White has re-worked his swing and I think the new middle infield will not only be turning a bunch of double plays to get the staff outta some jams, they may be able to coach up Adolis and get him calmed down a bit at the plate.

I see our season win total at 71.5 ---I'm leaning over. We might sneak up on the .500 mark this year. At minimum, I believe there'll be some money made in the early season wagering on Rangers reverse runlines, capitalizing on the excitement in the offense.

Here's to a season of realizing some payoff from the multiple rebuilds.

nice write up as of this morning Draft Kings has our over/under at 74.5
under 74.5 -115
over 74.5 -105

sadly I feel we will go under
sure we will score runs but our starting pitching has more holes in it than swiss cheese

opening day in just three sleeps

Matt Carpenter didn’t make the roster and will go to AAA Round Rock

Taylor Hearn will get the start on 4/11 our home opener

You lucked out there. Carp has been a dumpster fire for last few years! Can’t believe he gonna go slum in minors after being grossly overpaid, he could retire comfy with way more money than he deserves! Dude shoulda hung it up before the year, now he gonna go take bus rides to shitty parks? Weird man. Talk bout a no life havinv Mfer that don’t deserve that huge bank account! Maybe he spent it all on hitting lessons! Lol

opening day for us is just around the corner and here’s where we stand as far as the roster goes:

1st base: Nate Lowe
not expecting much from him & I do expect us to improve this position within the first 4-6 weeks of the season

2nd base: Marcus Semien
paid big bucks for him
let’s see what happens

3rd base: Andy Ibáñez
not sure how he will work out over the long haul
I’d rather we’d gotten a proven 3B

SS: Corey Seager
all eyes on him for sure
he needs to improve defensively
I do expect him to be the “straw that serves the drink”

OF :
Kole Calhoun
Adolis García
Brad Miller

Garcia & Miller will have good years
Calhoun will be lucky to bat .225 and Nick Solak will get ample playing time

DH: Willie Calhoun
if Willie gets back to being Willie then we have a good thing going for us
he’s been snake bit last few seasons
fingers crossed for him

bench:
Nick Solak
Eli White
Charlie Culberson

C:
Mitch Garver
Jonah Heim

they’ve put a lot of their “eggs in a basket” in Garver
Heim is very good defensively but a liability with his bat

I sure miss Trevino as will this team

SP:
Jon Gray
Martín Pérez
Taylor Hearn
Dane Dunning
Spencer Howard

many questions with this staff I’ll reserve judgment after two times through the rotation

PEN:
Brett Martin
Kolby Allard
Josh Sborz
Garrett Richards
Joe Barlow
John King
Dennis Santana
Matt Bush
Greg Holland,
Brock Burke
Albert Abreu

Barlow should be our closer he did very well last year
he went 11/12 in save opportunities

I don’t see Holland lasting long with the team

there is some hype with this years team
I still feel we have holes in many areas
1B,3B and our starters

if we can win between 70-74 games it’s an improvement for sure
will be interesting to see how our “stars” we signed respond if we start off cold

our first 9 games should tell me a lot
I expect our record to be 3-6
Blue Jays 0 out of 3
Rockies 1 out of 2
Angels 2 out of 4

I’m ready to begin again and I’ve stacked my shelves with Pepto and Advil

SOR = Same ‘Ol Rangers

we were leading 6-0 thru three and then the flood gates opened
final score Toronto wins 10-8
Gray threw 70 pitches in 4.0 innings he gave up 3 hits 3 runs all of them earned
no HR’s allowed walked 2
King 0.2 gave up 1 hit 2 runs both earned walked one
Sborz got his first blown save 1.0 inning gave up 3 hits 3 runs all earned walked one gave up a 3 run jack to Hernandez
Santana went 1.1 and got the loss
he gave up 1 hit 1 run which was earned
Holland threw 1.0 inning gave up one hit which was a HR to Jansen
Holland as I said won’t be around that long

Miller 1/4 1-HR
Semien 0/4
Seagar 2/4
Garver 2/4 1-HR which was a 2 run shot
Lowe 2/5 drove in 2
Garcia 1/3 a solo HR
Calhoun K 0/3
Ibanez 0/4 1-RBI
Calhoun W 0/3

wasted a good lead and had to use 5 pitchers
disappointing way to start the season
our two big “stars” went 2-8 with no runs driven in
Dunning goes to the mound today

Don't want to derail the thread too much but what the hell is this front office doing. Why even spend big money on Seager who is great but always hurt and Semien who to be kind has not been consistently good in his career when you have a pitching staff like this.

I've said this in previous years but I have always liked this franchise and wonder what has happened to it the last 5 years or so. The team used to be fantastic at drafting and developing talent but that just isn't true anymore. I wonder if things started going downhill when Preller left but I don't follow the team closely enough to know for sure.

until Daniels is out of this organization we will never be a top tier team

lost a tough one, final score was 4-3 an 0-2 start to our season
Dunning threw 5.0 innings gave up 5 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked two struck out 4 gave up a solo shot
Martin took the loss going 0.2 innings gave up 1 run which was earned struck out 1
Patton & Bush pitched well

Semien,Seagar and Lowe all drove in one run
Semien went 1/4
Seagar went 2/4
Lowe went 2/4
Willie Calhoun went 0-4 again, he’s now 0-8
Kole Calhoun went 1/2

Howard takes the hill tomorrow in a very tough matchup vs Ryu
most likely an 0-3 start to our season

well we won’t go 0-162
we won today 12-6, we were down 6-1 after three but then posted a 6 spot in the top of the fourth
Howard was just awful, throwing 3.0 innings giving up 6 hits 6 runs all earned walked none struck out 5 and gave up 4 HR’s, yes 4 HR’s
Burke was solid in his 2.0 innings, he struck out 5 and got the W
Barlow,King,Santana & Sborz threw scoreless innings

Solak went 2/4 hitting his 1st HR drove in 1
Heim hit his first a 2 run blast 2/3 drove in 3
Miller hit his 2nd a solo shot 2/3 drove in 4
Ibanez,Culberson & Seagar all drove in 1 run

we struck out 10 times, in this series we struck out 18 times

how’d our “big signings” do
Seagar 6/13 2-RBI’s .461
Semien 1/13 1-RBI .077
Garver 2/9 1-HR 2-RBI’s .222

Garcia off to a sophomore slump batting .091

tomorrow is our home opener vs the Rockies
Hearn heads to the hill

tomorrow is our home opener vs the Rockies
Hearn heads to the hill

That series was crazy, every team who jumped out to lead gave it up before end the 5th! Rangers blow a 7-0 in game 1 (that pushed my Ff bet, fuckers!), just a small lead in game 2, but then jays blow the early 6–1 yesterday, doesn’t appear offense gonna be ya’ll biggest problem! Lol

that loud thud y’all heard was the Rangers dropping their home opener 6-4 to the Rockies
we are now 1-3 to start the season
Hearn threw 76 pitches in his 5.0 innings of work and he was leading 3-1
Hearn gave up 8 hits one run which was earned walked one struck out 6
Abreu,Santana & Bush all threw one inning
Martin blew the save his first of the year
Barlow gave up one run in his inning the run was a HR by Cron
Holland took the loss as he gave up 2 runs one of those was earned, he gave up a HR
to Joe
as I said before game one, not sure why Holland was even on this team
he needs to be DFA’d ASAP

Semien 1/5 batting .111
Seagar 1/5 batting .389
Garver 1/3 batting .250
Garcia Ad 2/3 drove in 2 batting .214
Lowe 1/4 drove in 1 batting .400
Ibanez 1/4 batting .176
Solak 0/3 batting .333
K Calhoun 0/4 batting .111
Culberson 1/3 batting .400
W Calhoun 1/1 hitting a 9th inning game tying HR his first of the season
batting .111

Culberson made his 1st error and Seagar made his 2nd one

we went 1-8 with RISP and left 7 on base

we are killing the pen and Semien looks lost, starting 1-3 isn’t surprising to me
I hope we win tomorrow
Perez takes to the hill

Pretty much everyone overusing pens right now. Starters didht really have a chance to fully stretch out in shortened spring. they have expended rosters for extra pitchers at moment don’t they?

I didn’t make a stink about “the slide” because it was useless
was it dangerous? no
should it have been overturned? no

but remember there’s NO crying in baseball so just move on…

when you go 1-11 with RISP and leave 9 on base it’s hard for a below average team to win and we did lose 4-1 dropping our record to 1-4
Perez threw only 4.0 innings gave up 7 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked 1 struck out 2
we used 5 pitchers again from the pen
Holland,Allard,King & Sborz all threw one inning not allowing any runs
Patton gave up one run in his inning
none of our pitchers gave up a HR

Ibanez went 2/4 he drove in our only run
Semien went 0/4 now batting .091
Garcia 0/3 .176
K Calhoun 0/4 .077
Garver 2/3 .333
Seagar 0/4 .318
W Calhoun 0/2 .091

we struck out 6 times

tough to be thought of as a competitive team when you lose 2 straight to the Rockies
I did say we’d be 3-6 after our first 9 games
we now must go 2-2 in our four game series with the Angels starting tomorrow night

Semien looks lost at the plate
our SP’s have gone 4,5,3,4,4 innings
that’s awful
our pen is sub-par and at this rate will be burned out by mid-July

a day off today and tomorrow Dunning gets the ball vs Ohtani

while we had a nice win and we crushed Ohtani our starter still not going long enough
final score was 10-5 and our record now stands at 2-4
Dunning threw 86 pitches in 3.2 innings giving up 6 hits 2 runs both of them earned walked 2 struck out 7 and gave up a solo HR to Trout
King got the win with his 1.1 inning
Burke, Richards and Martin all pitched

Seagar hit his first Globe Life HR as a Ranger he went 2/4 drove in 3
his HR (1st of the year) was a 2 run shot
Heim went 3/5 driving in 5 four of his RBI’s came off a grand slam off Ohtani in the second inning
Lowe went 2/5 driving in 1
Semien went 1/5 batting .111

we struck out 7 times, went 4-13 with RISP and left 8 on base
Angels played sloppy D as they commited 3 errors

Yes I’ll take the W but we really need to get some “miles” from our starters
Bush heads to the hill tonight

we had a 6-2 heading into the 5th inning and then Allard shit the bed, final score Angels 9-6 our record now stands at 2-5
7 pitchers were used in this game
Allard threw 1.1 innings gave up five hits 5 runs all earned walked none struck out 1 and gave up 2 HR’s
Bush gave up a lead off HR to Ohtani
Abreu gave up a HR as did Sborz
in total we gave up 5 HR’s

on the offensive side, Culberson went 1/3 and drove in 3
Seagar went 1/4 drove in 1
Garver went 0/4 drove in 1
Ad Garcia went 0/5 now batting .160

we struck out 10 times went 2-11 with RISP and left 8 on base

our pen is way over worked and our starters aren’t any good
this spells for a very long season, almost time to lower the expectations to winning 65-67 games

tonight Thor pitches for the Angels
Hearn gets the ball for us

May I suggest a merger of our two franchises. In that merger we take the Brewers pitching staff and the Rangers lineup. Now that would be a World Series winning team.

This Rangers team reminds me of the Doug Melvin Brewers as well as his teams in Texas where the lineup was prolific but the pitching staff belonged in AA. Very frustrating knowing that every night you might be forced to score 10 runs to win.

soon our offense will go into a slump and then things will get worse than they currently are
a very bleak outlook for this team

we dropped this game 7-2 our record now stands at 2-6
Hearn threw 82 pitches in only 3.2 innings
gave up 6 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked 1 struck out 4
Holland pitched one inning and gave up 2 runs they came off a Ohtani 2 run HR his ERA is 7.71 he really needs to be DFA’d
Moore and Barlow each gave up a run
we used 6 pitchers

Semien 1/4 drove in 1 batting .147
Seager 0/4 drove in 1
Ad Garcia 0/4 batting .138 he’s 1 for his last 12 at bats
Lowe 3/4 batting .375 he’s off to a very nice start
Willie Calhoun 0/4 batting .125
Kole Calhoun 1/3 batting .143

we struck out 8 times and went 1-4 with RISP and left 4 on base

if we win this afternoon sadly I’ll be correct with being 3-6 after our first 9

off to Seattle and Oakland this week, off on Monday
Perez gets the ball today

7 pitchers used today and we dropped three straight to the Angels
final score was 8-3 our record now stands at 2-7
Perez lasted 4 innings threw 67 pitches gave up 5 hits 4 runs 3 of them earned walked 3 struck out 5 and took the loss
he’s now 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA
Burke & Snyder each gave up 2 earned runs

Ad Garcia went 1/4 drove in 2 as he hit his 2nd HR of the season
Willie Calhoun went 1/4 drove in 1

Semien 0/5
Ibanez 0/4
Garver 0/2

we struck out 10 times, went 0-6 with RISP and left 8 on base

the series started off with a great win and over last three games we were out scored
24-11
we struck out 36 times in four games and avg of 9 per game, back to our old ways

Semien so far is a complete shit show
batting .128
zero HR’s, 2 RBI’s with an OPS of .369

Willie Calhoun batting .150
Ad Garcia batting .152

we now head out on a six game road trip, let’s hope we go 2-4
yes it’s still very early but with a dog shit rotation there’s little hope for this team and season

I hated the Semien signing.

down 3-0 after the first, we never got back into the game as we lose our 4th in a row
final score was 6-2 our record is now 2-8

Jon Gray (L 0-1) threw 5.0 innings gave up 3 hits 4 runs all of them earned, he gave up a 3 run and a solo HR, walked 1 struck out 4
Martin & Moore each pitched scoreless innings
Patton got lit up in his 0.2 he gave up 2 hits 2 runs both earned as he gave up a 2 run shot

Semien went 1/3 and drove in our only 2 runs .143
Seagar 1/4
Garver 0/4 now at .200
Ad Garcia 1/4 .162
W Calhoun 0/2 .136
K Calhoun 0/1 .167

we struck out 5 times, went 0-3 with RISP and left 5 on base

Woody had a chat with our pitchers prior to the game, he wanted them to have a “let it rip” attitude and they did they let the mariners rip 3 HR’s
you can’t make chicken soup out of chicken shit and our staff is chicken shit

we are 10 games into our season and it’s clear this team won’t mount any challenges this season
no team leadership at all, on our way to another 100 loss year

Dunning takes to the hill tonight

I was on Ray to do well as I think your boys lofty ops against lefties thus far mostly fraudulent as they hung a couple big numbers but overall not consistently doing much damage w half their games being the 3 runs or less variety. That a really bad combo mixed with a pitching staff that has given up 5+ In 8 of 10, 6+ in 7 of them! We know it wasn’t gonna be enough to compete for 162 but sure Would have liked to see the additions spark them a bit of early success. If they can’t muster anything now what it gonna look like when they staring up at all the other teams in the west come august? Even the A’s who had a freaking spring time fire sale are competing!

lost our 5th in a row, final score was 4-2 we are now 2-9
Dunning (L 0-1) threw 4.0 innings gave up 6 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked 3 struck out 3 and didn’t give up any HR’s

King,Burke and Richards also pitched

we did DFA Greg Holland which was necessary, but he did get enough service days this year to now be fully vested in the MLB pension play with 10 years of service
I’m sure some team will take a chance with him and he’ll end up being an all star

Ad Garcia went 1/3 and drove in 1
Garver went 0/4 drove in 1
Semien went 2/4 now at .174
W Calhoun 0/2 batting .125 he could very well be the next to leave this team
he’s 3/24 this season
K Calhoun 1/3 .185

gotta laugh when Woody talks this bullshit
“It’s a little frustrating when guys are having quality at-bats, and there were some hard-hit balls today, for sure.”
uhhh we’re in the majors and hitting the ball hard means squat
it’s all about wins & losses not excuses

only good thing to happen from this game was we turned a triple play it was our 7th in clubs history
our last one turned was on 8/16/2018 vs the Angels

Hearn takes the ball tonight before we head to Oakland for the weekend

Manager speak is funny, I get it tho, what he supposed to say? I dunno if they were really peppering the ball or not, obviously I didn’t watch, sometimes that does happen. In their defense that Gilbert kid has really good stuff, nobody has done much damage vs him.

Maybe ya’ll can’t scratch out a win or 2 vs Oakland, good spot for the pitching to be little better anyways cause that lineup not scaring anyone!
