UFC on ESPN+ 38 ~ Night of the ZOMBIE!

mrpickem

SDQL Badass Stat Boss
Big card with early 4pm EST start.

randoms...
  • Chan Sung Jung -200 and ITD -105...the battle of chins and cardio. Neither guy will gas and both have proven incredibly durable. Don’t really like Ortega off this long layoff. Would likely take Zombie over a fresh Ortega, so I LOVE him over a rusty one. Ortega got brutalized by Max...an opponent who won’t quit and applies pressure. That fits zombie to a T, a very high IQ pressure fighter. If it gets to the mat, I don’t see Ortega getting a sub like many others seem to. Zombie is incredibly slick on the ground as well and I’d call the grappling overall a wash or very close. Zombie and likely by stoppage.
  • Jessica Andrade -150 ...Probably a slow boring fight Jessica wins by decision (She is a step up above Chookigian on her athletic ability. Chook may be wily enough to survive the contest, but Andrade’s do or die mentality and bravery in the pocket will keep Chookigian in a defensive shell. On the mat, Andrade proved her grappling ability vs Gadelha by stuffing seven total takedowns and amassing nearly 9 minutes of control time. This is a higher weight class, but Andrade is STRONG and a bulldog)
  • Jimmy Crute ITD -150 ...Crute’s striking is good enough to keep Bukauskas preoccupied and create chances for a takedown. On the mat, it’s simply a matter of time before Crute finds his choke, or beats his man into submission. Too much experience and way too technical on the mat.
  • James Krause -130 ...An intriguing match-up, with the biggest factor as to whether Silva is still game after another year on the sidelines. The safe call is Krause to punish Silva on the feet and stuff any frantic takedowns. Short notice no big deal for Krause as this is his 3rd such...at least
  • Thomas Almeida -130 and possibly by KO ...If Almeida is the same man he was before injuries and several quick stoppage losses derailed his career, he should beat Martinez, a lesser version of himself.
  • Mateusz Gamrot -305 and over 2.5 -200 ...Gamrot will be able to keep Kutateladze somewhat quiet during the sketchy opening minutes before controlling with his wrestling. Once on his back, Kutateladze will struggle to escape Gamrot’s top game. Likely descision here.
  • Gillian Robertson by Sub +110 ...Robertson could well be cracked early, considering the wildly unorthodox strikes of Botelho could bypass a streaky guard. Robertson is crafty enough to push Botelho against the cage, work a single leg, and find a way to a submission victory.
  • Jun Yong Park -275 ...Park was able to wrestle with Marc-Andre Barriault in his last fight and out-grapple him on way to a decision victory. Why have they matched him up with John Phillips, seems like much much lesser of the same
