FCS vs FBS week 0 / week 1

New Mexico down to 14.5 (22.5 a few days ago)

Assuming it doesn't take much action to move these lines as books are likely sensitive to missing the mark and adjusting quickly.

So New Mexico sucked last year and Houston Baptist is perennial DD win team. Is that it?

Pretty safe I believe to foresee a good bit of improvement on UNM and then...am I putting too much on the transfers out of HBU?
This is the one year I bet UNM over. Terry Wilson helps. This coach helps. They've bought in. They won their last two games last year with a walk on freshman at qb.
They actually don't have to stay the season in Vegas and can live at home.
I like the team. Really don't know what to think about this HBU game. I'm waiting for the Utep game in 2 weeks to play them.

Still won't be a juggernaut on offense, so I'm not excited to lay 3 tds.

Knew you'd chime in on Jax St...I want to take the points but it simply doesn't look like it's moving to 17, so might just play them 1h

I played it about an hour ago at 17 -120. Probably dumb with the hook but is what it is. Lean under but can’t pull the trigger. Rain dropped to 50% fwiw. Just think they’ll play conservative at the beginning and try and establish their run games because that’s their respective styles anyway. I tend to get a little excited when the gamecocks are on tv. Cheers and GLTA

Terry Wilson sucks.

Colorado State favored 2.5 now

Montana State at Wyoming could be interesting. Their HC is former North Dakota State assistant coach and Wyoming OC for 7 years, Brent Vigen under Craig Bohl. They skipped both the fall and spring seasons though. This is Vigen's first game and it comes vs his old team and boss.

Ed McCaffrey was hired end of 2019 and has yet to coach a game for Northern Colorado. Two of his sons are on the team, one as an assistant coach, the other a QB Dylan after transferring in from Michigan.

Thinking I am going to take a couple 1st H lines tonight.

Utah -18.5 and Arizona State-27

Utah plays a top quality FCS and perennial playoff team in Weber State. Weber St likes to run and has some good OL, but Utah is built to stop the run and if they do I don't think Weber State is going to find success trying to move the ball. Actually last year, the Big Sky schedule was light with Montana and Montana State opting out and Weber did not play Eastern Washington, Weber's path was pretty easy going 5-0 before a first round playoff loss. However, in 3 of their 5 wins, they scored 20 points or fewer (vs UCDavis, SUU and Id St)! Last time these two teams played in 2018, Utes came out sleep walking and Weber jumped on them 10-0! But Utes won 41-10! Weber St went 10-3 in 2018 so it's not like that was a bad team or anything. Utes will not come out lethargic tonight. No. Tonight Rice Eccles Stadium will be packed tonight, in fact the largest crowd ever thanks to the opening of a new 5000 seat section. Place will be rocking out the gates.

Arizona State could possibly score ever time they touch the ball. San Jose scored TDs on 5 straight possessions before throwing an INT then adding a FG before HT. HT score was 38-14. SUU's points came after a penalty on a missed FGA, then a philly special TD play and their other TD was a pick-six. They generated virtually no offense. 156 of SUU's 250 total yards came on their final 3 possessions of the game. Southern Utah is now playing just 4 short days later. ASU RBs will have a field day and Daniels should find receivers open and often.

I also took Citadel at 33.5 and FIU 1st H-21. Waiting to see how I feel on Eastern Wash

Still want to take New Mexico, just can't where the number has gone. Crazy movement!

UC Davis won as 22 pt dog over Tulsa! That would've been nice.

I went 0-4! Utah 1st H was a complete throw something at TV game! 212-98y edge and only lead 19-7 HT. How? Two perfect passes on 3rd down in the EZ were dropped, so 2 RZ FGs. Weber's only pts were KO ret TD. Utah also missed xpt. Best case the game could've been 28-0 halftime.

Coastal couldn't be stopped. Citadel got the cover mid 4th and Coastal took it back.

FIU was up 28-0 1st H and then DB falls down and Long Island gets long TD pass and FIU throws INT in LI territory late 2nd Q and LI takes that for a FG and a 28-10 HT score!

Arizona State simply put is a bad bet. I thought they would have 35. They have 28 and Southern Utah has 7. SUU is playing very hard to their credit. ASU also has 11 penalties for 120 yards in the 1st H alone! Record number of penalites for Herm in a game is 12.

Maybe I shouldn't mess with these FCS? Did avoid New Mexico thankfully.

UTEP is playing another team who did not play football 2020 or spring 2021 in Bethune Cookman.

Bethune Cookman was picked 5th out of 6 teams in the SWAC East division. They are replacing their QB from 2019, also their so called "mr-do-everything" offensive player Jimmie Robinson, and they are replacing the three defensive players that led them in tackles, sacks and INTs! Ark Pine-Bluff transfer QB expected to be starter and they do return 3 of 5 OL.

Another weak and inexperienced opponent hopefully leads to a similar result for the Miners as game #1 saw. UTEP scored 17 points in the 1st Q last week and held NMSt under 200y of offense.

This was really fun before the games started. I'm retiring from FCS football. I might've lost every game involving an FCS team. Plenty of good plays were out there, none were ones I took.

anybody know how north dakota, north dakota state, south dakota, south dakota state, montana, montana state, northern iowa, etc etc all be competitive with these d1 teams ? why aren't the recruits going to south fcs teams ?Theres a handful of other really good teams too up there in no mans land where no recruits are- wondering where they get all their players. Amazing the amount of quality teams in that part of the country and how they are better than at a fair amount of d1 programs.

also seems like a good betting niche but think it'd be near impossible to follow them all on tv - boxscores i suppose

I was thinking that about the South Dakota State QB. He was a transfer out of Samford and before that he was a transfer out of somewhere else, he made some nice throws Friday night. Guess he wasn't on anybody's radar. The QB from Montana State who took Wyoming to the wire today was a transfer from NC State I think.

Just guys that fall through the cracks and then they get into a system that develops and those top FCS programs are coached so well and they really view it as a prove it game, chip on shoulder game, while the FBS teams often takes them lightly, or so it seems.
