CTG Terms of Service
You must read, accept, and agree to be bound by the following terms of service before being permitted to post on these forums. We may update/change these terms of service at any time without notification.
OVERVIEW
Introduction
CappingTheGame.com (CTG) is a private website directly run by the CTG Partnership Team. Keep in mind that membership to the CTG posting forums is a privilege, not a right.
Membership Requirements
CTG does not permit anyone to register who is under the age of 21. It is a privately run, public website aimed at, and catering to, solely the interests of those over 21 years of age. All members agree to provide accurate information upon registration to use any feature associated with cappingthegame.com subject to all laws and regulations. Failure to do so may result in your membership being revoked. Any person able to agree with these rules and meet these Terms of Service requirements will be allowed membership.
The Purpose of the Rules
Here, at CTG, we take pride in the quality of our members. We strongly believe the information and the tools that are available here are second to none. In order to maintain that high standard that we take pride in, however, we have instilled a set of rules that must be followed. We are also forced to painfully explain each and every rule as clearly as possible to avoid confusion or misunderstandings down the road. There are always people who will protest that the offence they were banned/disciplined for wasn't covered in the rules.
If you are looking for the short version of all these rules, then it’s pretty simple; behave, keep the boards clean, and use common sense.
These are our rules, if you don't like them then there may be other forums that better cater towards your preferences.
THE CTG TEAM
CTG Partners
CTG Partners are the owners/operators of the site. They have full control over the forums and over the database. Partners can at any time promote, demote, edit the profile of, or completely terminate the membership of any other member regardless of their "rank" or title with or without warning or explanation. Partners can also make changes to the structure and forums of the website at any time.
CTG Super Moderators
Together with the Partners, Super Moderators collectively control the structure and layout of the site. Super Moderators are essentially Moderators over every forum on the website. They can aid in conflict resolution between any Moderator and Member or Member and Member. They may issue infractions against users for infringing any rule. They also have full control over posts and threads in every forum. Under emergency circumstances Super Moderators can terminate any user's account. Super Moderators are responsible for their own actions and must act how we expect every other member to act or they may face losing their title.
CTG Moderators
Moderators are assigned to a group of forums and are responsible for the smooth running of each forum within. They have the power to lock or edit threads and posts. They also may issue infractions against users for infringing any rule. Moderators are responsible for their own actions and must act how we expect every other member to act or they may face losing their title.
Registered Users
This is the standard user account. Registered users must ensure they abide by the forum rules. It is wise to treat people as you expect to be treated yourself and remain friendly to maximize your experience at cappingthegame.com.
CONCEPTS
Moderation Policy
The CTG forums operate on a moderation policy and moderators are needed and required in order to help keep the forums clean and running smoothly, whether you agree with it or not. This policy is required in order to maintain the high degree of constructive and friendly discussions that cappingthegame.com is built upon. The decisions of all Moderators are final. Protests can be made directly to a CTG Moderator, a CTG Super Moderator, or a CTG Partner. All protests must be done through our private messaging (PM) system. Public protests will not be tolerated and may be deleted without consideration. An infraction may also be issued for a public protest.
Ownership of Posts
The original poster remains the legal copyright owner for all creative content. Posting to cappingthegame.com signifies that you permit cappingthegame.com to use and display your material on the forums for as long as needed. Cappingthegame.com will not use any creative material for profit and is not responsible in any legal action resulting from any content posted in the forums. Moderators and Partners reserve the right to edit, move, or remove your post for any reason.
Advertisers and Outside Links
Any interaction you have with our advertisers is at your sole discretion and such dealing is only between you and said advertiser. Cappingthegame.com cannot be held responsible for payment or any other goods/services. All interaction with advertisers is at the discretion of individuals visiting cappingthegame.com, and is in accordance to any laws or regulations. Cappingthegame.com is not responsible for individuals who do not abide by their local laws or regulations. Any links you visit through cappingthegame.com is at your sole discretion. We will not be held responsible for any loss from visiting links, either directly or indirectly.
Banning
The CTG Team strongly prefers not to have to ban people. After all, we want more people on this site posting. Sometimes, however, it can’t be avoided. When it becomes clear that a member is not wanted on cappingthegame.com for a particular reason, usually for infringing a rule, then action will be taken. Any banned member who re-registers will be re-banned at any time without reason or explanation. All bans are permanent.
Freezing
Members that are ‘Frozen’ are being banned for a temporary time, usually for infringing a forum rule. These temporary bans are the same as a normal ban, while active. The length of time a person is ‘Frozen’ varies and will be based on the infraction and on the judgment of the Super Moderator or Partner that did the banning. Any ‘Frozen’ member who re-registers during this period may end up with their original account and new account permanently banned.
Infractions
All Partners and Moderators can issue infractions for any offence. If you accumulate three infractions, your account will be reviewed and you will probably be ‘frozen’ until an official form of action is decided on. While you may be banned at any time for any reason without infractions, it is best to ensure that you do not repeat offend for anything you are infracted for. Infractions last for one year before they expire. Any member is entitled to protest any infractions privately with a Moderator, Super Moderator or a Partner and if successful can have their infraction reversed/removed. Public protests of infractions will not be tolerated and may be deleted without consideration.
Aliases and Multiple Accounts
Users are only permitted to have one account at cappingthegame.com. Any member who has more than one account may have their additional accounts terminated without notice. Continued violation of this rule may result in disciplinary action. It is very clear when members are re-registering due to a ban or a ‘freezing’ and these users can expect to be re-banned at any time without reason.
Complaints
All personal complaints, whether about a moderator or a member must first have been attempted to be resolved privately. If the private discussion does not resolve the matter, you may take your complaint to a Super Moderator or to a Partner. If it comes to this make sure you build a case, justify it, and include links and examples. Neither Super Moderators nor Partners have the time to search the boards for posts about a certain member if links are not included in your complaint. Failure to support your complaint may result in no further investigation into your issue. Avoid posting your complaint publicly on the forums as you may risk the complaint being deleted without consideration or investigation. Sometimes it may be necessary to complain about a member publicly. These include such times where it is necessary to warn other members of incoming spam or harassment. A ‘heads up’ to all moderators in general you might say. Such warnings are accepted on the boards.
Private Messaging System
The private messaging system exists as a means to communicate with other members privately. While they are called "private messages," you are still accountable for anything you send using this system. If the CTG Team has a reasonable suspicion that you are using the private messaging system for any activity which breaches the Terms of Service, you will receive the same punishment as if it took place on the public forums. In the end, a broken rule is a broken rule regardless where on the site it took place.
FORUM RULES
Racism and other Intolerance
Any form of racism may see you banned without warning. Everyone on this board is equal as a person and everyone is entitled to their opinion and is entitled to argue their opinion. However, directly insulting or bashing another person for their beliefs or non-beliefs or their sexuality or their lifestyle, will not be tolerated.
Bashing or Harassing Members
Any member seen bashing other members will be issued an infraction. If you provoke any member, it will more than likely cause an exchange of unpleasant words. Although the bickering may go both ways, you may find that you are the only person issued an infraction for the incident.
Spamming and Trolling
Spamming the forums to advertise for another website may see you immediately banned. The only time links and promotions to other websites are permitted is if they are posted in the ‘Website Promotions’ forum. Trolling threads, meaning any posts that are deliberately off-topic and only serve to annoy other members or seek to start a fight will not be tolerated.
Unsavory Characters
If you show yourself to be someone that contradicts values that cappingthegame.com represents then you may be removed. Some examples of unsavory characters are:
- Looking to start fights
- Spamming other members privately
Contempt for Moderators
Insulting, harassing, or bashing moderators, or failing to do something that was requested that you do by a moderator is not tolerated. Follow procedures if you have a complaint against any moderator or a protest against an infraction given to you.
Interest in Becoming a Moderator
Moderators are not made by request of the user. If you are interested in becoming a moderator, then show your interest and maturity in the forum you would like to moderate by frequently posting friendly constructive posts. Existing moderators do notice people with these attitudes. When the time comes that a new moderator is needed then you might be asked. Posting on the forums that you would like to be a moderator may serve only to annoy the people that you do not want to annoy. Avoid doing this.
Circumventing Rules
If we find that you are breaking a rule in some subtle way that you obviously think is intelligent and hilarious then you can still expect to see yourself treated in the same manner as if you directly broke the rule. It doesn't matter how you broke the rule in the end.
Note
Some of the offences may bring different actions against different members. Every moderators’ judgment is different and every member is different. For example if an old member who we know and respect and who has been on the site for a long time and has contributed plenty to the site, makes a distasteful post that would normally be a cause for a ban, it’s possible he/she may not necessarily be banned and may just end up with an infraction, whereas a new member will be banned.
This does not mean that your post count or your date of registration will allow you to do anything on the site. What it means is that for every action (especially banning) the Partners and Moderators weigh up the contributions made by the member and the history of the member compared to the offence they have committed or the damage caused.
These are our forum rules. Read them, know them, and abide by them. The goal is to make cappingthegame.com a fun and educational experience for all our members. Together, you can help us reach that goal.
