I'm so hungover. Now I have to listen to a bunch of computer nerds tell me how they knew the saints were going to win and I'm stupid for betting on the colts.

Congrats New Orleans.

We've waited a long time to see this. The cherry on top was to finally get one of my childhood heroes, Rickey Jackson, into the HOF! Wish I could be home to celebrate with the Family. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

What a season ya'll!! I'm so happy for this defense that has been ridiculed by media and such all year. Our cornerback play has just been insane all year to the tune of something never seen in NO. This team had so much fight and came back from deficits all year. Great team to watch. Who Dat!

What a great feeling as a fan. I am still in shock. That was one hell of a season. Thank you Saints for making our dreams come true. We are finally off that list.

Congrats to the Saints....there wont be any fans with bags over their heads for a long long time. I think as a Raider fan I need to adopt one of those bags!

Great game!

As it turned out, the onside kick to start the second half may go down as the greatest call ever in a super bowl. In my book it is. I think a lot of people lost sight of the fact that Indy had a rookie HC and NO had a river boat gambler with just enough exerience. I believe coaching had a great deal to do with the outcome of what was one of the best superbowls I have seen. Who would have ever thought that a bad throw by Manning would seal the deal.

I think you are correct that it will go down in superbowl history as the greatest call ever but I think it was a horrible, horrible , horrible decision that just happened to work out for him. I thought going for it on fourth down near the end of the first half was an awful decision as well but he got bailed out by the three and out. Just because 7-2 all-in beats Ace-Ace doesn't mean playing that hand was the right decision.

I agree. I think it was the best super bowl ever but then again I am a die hard Saints fan so if it was a Saints blowout I would still think it was the best game ever. IMO, the best game of the season since I was actually there was the NFC Championship. That was frickin awesome. 2 teams evenly matched....just wow.

The onside call was one of those that is great only if it works. However, that call was made in the dressing room at half time and the whole team was behind it. The call on the goal line just before the half was different for sure. I agreed with going for it but I would have called something different. In fact I would have called something different on third down.
I think what he did was just let the team know that they were going to do everything they could to win, not just put in a good showing. Let's face it they were the underdogs, they were less experienced at the championship level, and they obviously were more nervous in the early going. As far as either decision being the right decision, you never know. I think both calls gained the confidence of his players and they wound up coming out on top both times. I would rather be lucky than good but some time you are just good and lucky at the same time. Sometimes you create your own luck. I respect the fact that as a head coach he was willing to take the chance and accept the consequences.

agree on the onside kick, if they don't get that and Peyton drives for a TD I think it is game over for the Colts, it was a huge risk and I don't think it was worth it down only 4 points with a half to go

going for it on 4th down I liked, if you kick the FG than you give Peyton the ball at his own 20 most likely and he has something like 90 seconds and 2 timeouts to drive the ball where the question most likely isn't whether he scores but whether its 7 or 3

by going for it on 4th you basically made the colts play conservative, they start from their own 1 so they aren't gonna be using timeouts unless they move the ball 40 yards conservatively

even if NO didn't get the FG I think that is the right call, simply because of who they were playing against

Yall going to the parade tomorrow. I am thinking about it but might not make it. I do know I-10 was locked up a little while ago by the airport. People were parking on the interstate jumping over handrails to see them. Sean Payton was carrying the Lombardi Trophy and people busted through the guard rails too touch it. He was letting everyone touch it and I heard he was just eating it up laughing his ass off.

Peter King's MMQB on si.com today:

Quote:
Sean Payton and the Saints saw two frontline players on the Colts' coverage team repeatedly cheating/leaving early on right-footed kickoffs on game films. Because of that (and their confidence in their ability to exploit it), they put the onside kick in 12 days before the Superbowl (with a rookie kickoff specialist, no less).
