31-28 Louisville wins with :05 left to snap 9 game Cardinal losing streak at Doak Campbell. Teams traded TDs 7-7 when FSU LB scooped a Lamar Jackson fumble for a D TD and Noles led 14-7. LV would come right back to tie, an FSU INT led to a missed LV FG right before HT. FSU missed a FG and throw an INT while Cardinals scored 14 straight for 28-14 lead. FSU would score the next 14 pts (helped by roughing passer on 4th-and-10) for 28-28 game. LV was SOD at F27 with 5m left and FSU drove to L21 with 1st down, but ran a zone read and Blackman fumbled with 2m left. LV drove to the F17 and made a 34 FG for the win. Jackson 13-21-156-1-0 (season low yards) – added 178 rushing 1TD. LV ran for 293 (6.7). Blackmon 16-28-248-2-2. FSU ran for 155 (4.1). Each team missed a FG. 23-22 FD FSU, 449-403 TY LV. Each team 50% 3rd down. Petrino said “you know how much I like the passing game - we called a lot more run plays then I’d like to...it was the best way to win this game”.

24-17 Pitt busts 79 and 92y TD runs the later a school record. Darrin Hall finished with 24-254-3TD. DiNucci just 8-18-149-0-0 (sacked 3x) he QB’d the entire game. Jones 15-33-272-2-1, Rahming 8-142-TD receiving. Pitt led 7-0, but Duke would have leads of 10-7, 17-7 and 17-14 before Pitt came from behind. With Duke leading 17-14 Pitt got a big break on a 49y throw, the ball appeared to be INT’d, but the Pitt receiver made enough of an effort to cause the ref to rule simultaneous possession which was upheld with replay. Pitt scored and had the lead 2 plays later. Duke’s final drive got the the P22, but ended in INT. Pitt 485-359 (6.5-6.0) TY, 39-21 TOP. Pitt missed 2 FGs, Duke missed 1. Duke –2 TOs.

41-10 BC dominates with 24 pts and 331 TY in the first half with big plays (76y run and 76y reception). 24-7 HT UVA crossed midfield once on their first 5 drives before the TD drive. They would cross again just twice in the 2nd half. BC D got 3 sacks and 3 INTs. FDs even 19-19, but TY 512-247 for BC (7.2-3.6).

27-19 Miami gets out front early and hangs on late. Eric Dungey started 1 of 11 and threw 4 first half INTs (had 4 on the year coming in), but the score at HT was just 13-3 Miami, then 20-6 with 3m left in the 3rd. Cuse scored on back-to-back drives to make it 20-16. Miami was SOD at S31 and Cuse would kick a long FG to make it a 1 pt game 20-19. Miami added a TD with 3m left 27-19. Cuse final drive was SOD near midfield. Miami kicked FGs of 18 and 39y. Cuse kicked FGs of 22, 40, 45 and 53. 23-22 FD for Syracuse, Miami 480-399 TY. Surprisingly Cuse outrushed them 264-136 (5.2-4.3). Rosier 26-43-344-2-0, 45 rushing with TD. Dungey 13-41-137-0-4 (sacked 3x), Strickland led them with 105 rushing, Dungey had 100.

59-7 Virginia Tech does it Beamer-ball style with two D TDs and ST TD in the first half to lead 35-0 at the break. 21-11 FD and 383-172 (5.2-2.7) TY. Josh Jackson 10-20-132-3-0. Leading Hokie rusher had just 58y (35y on one run). Surratt and Harris both played, Surratt was injured and left for a while. They combined 8-19-118-1-2 (sacked 5x).

38-24 GT comes from behind. GT opened with a long 15p 8min drive, but settled for short 22y FG 3-0. GT would later lead 10-7, but WF would score the next 14 pts to lead 21-10 before HT. GT was driving late 3rd and Marshall was hit late out-of-bounds helping to them towards a 42y FG to cut it 13-21 HT. A WF FG was sandwiched between Tech 49 and 42y TD runs, GT led 25-24 (two failed 2pt conv for GT). GT D was stellar in the 2nd half. WF was SOD at the G43, G40 and G24. GT extended to 31-24 lead (xpt blk’d) and Marshall broke a 70y run to cap the scoring with under 2m left. WF’s final drive got to the G25, but was INT’d in the EZ (only TO of game). GT 29-20 FD, 495-362 TY (6.4-5.9). Marshall 23-163 rushing 2 TD, 5-11-68-0-0 (sacked 3x). Wolford 17-30-252-2-1, –5 rushing. DE Duke Ejiofor had all 3 sacks for WF.

Duke was unlucky, though not necessarily deserving of anything other than what they got. The pass was intercepted and the pitt guy is trying to yank it free and somehow they ruled it simultaneous possession and the gutless replay didn't overturn. Will not convince me that wasn't an INT. Then on that play late while driving for the final score, the official missed a blatant hold/PI that prevented the target from being able to make a reasonable play on the ball. I watched a lot of that game which was dominate by the defenses other than the big plays you mentioned. Very odd how bad the duke passing game is, given their talent.

As bad as Dinucci was playing I wondered if they were going to bring in the Fr again this week. Guess they saw enough last week and figured that even if Dinucci was stinking it up their chances were better.

Yeah that Pitt defender grabbed him around the waist, it was a hold. Trying to think why they didn't call it, looked like he grabbed and released fairly quick, but the damage to the receivers ability to get to the spot was done.

Like you said, probably just unlucky. Sometimes teams get calls, sometimes they don't. Refs miss alot, and then other games they are throwing flags every other play. You just never know.

Think it was Maddox, DB for Pitt. Looked like he had a pretty serious arm/wrist/hand injury in the 3rd qrt. He would be a big loss to that D if he misses time.

Bet Eric Dungey is sore tonight. Miami beat him up. He put himself in bad spots to take hits. Had a really bad game throwing, made some good plays with his legs. I remember he had alot of concussion issues early in his career right? He needs a bye after that game. Would like to know what Diaz said to him after the game. Probably "you are a tough dude"

Louisville looked like they still cared and had something to play for. From most of what I saw, can't say the same about the FSU D - same story as the rest of their games.

I'll get to the PAC 12 at some point, but watching this Colorado game. Buffs are done I think. Coach playing all 3 QBs, one guy more of a runner they ask him to throw which he can't. McIntyre was losing it on the sideline. OL getting owned by Wazzou. Just looks like they don't care. Coach is probably going to tear into them and at this point they may just tune him out. At 4-4 with Cal, @ ASU, USC and @ Utah I'm not sure they win another game. Suppose they could get up for SC and SC might have little to play for after they are done with the Zona schools.

Lol Mcintyre was mad, he was constantly yelling at the back judge. Colorado didn't lose by more because Wazzou was so sloppy offensively. Montez did nothing and the backup made a few nice intermediate passes from outside the pocket. Lindsay looked like the only one who was working hard, but behind an offensive line that couldn't deal with Wazzou's lack of size on the defensive line he could only do so much. Wide receivers dropped some passes, made a few atypical errors. Just no chem on offense and eventually Wazzou broke the game open. Despite how bad Wazzou's run game had had they ran all over Colorado whose lack of size seems tö hinder them in their two gap scheme. I think Isaiah Oliver at corner is the real deal but a decent run game behind a physical offensive line will run down CU's throat

S--k, would you say that GT was really hurt by the absence of linebacker brant mitchell? Thanks

Wazzou was so sloppy offensively. Falk was not processing coverages or releasing the ball as quickly as he normally does. Hence his poor completion %. One example was a 4th and short towards end of the first half, he had the first down but hesitated and his throw ended up getting batted down. At one point Leach made his offense do pushups. The pass attack was just anemic and they're fortunate that Colorado did absolutely nothing offensively. Wazzou's d line is a liability on short yardage situation because of its lack of size but I think it has a tough secondary

He made life hard for himself with his lack of decision making and slow processing of coverage. Just a degenerate version of his former self out there, zero positive impetus

S--k, would you say that GT was really hurt by the absence of linebacker brant mitchell? Thanks

I'm often not good with knowing who players are and what their strength or weaknesses are. I don't know who he is. I take it he is an important player?

AAC

42-38 Memphis trailed 0-17 HT. Mem was –2 TOs in the first half, but Hou was –3 in the second half and when it hurt Cougars most. It was 7-24 before Mem Tony Pollard ran his 5th career KO ret for TD. Postma sack/fumbled from M26 and Mem would cut it to 28-31. Hou went back up by 10, but Mem would score on back-to-back quick 1-1/2m drives to take the lead 42-38. Hou’s last two drives ended in Postma fumble and INT. Mem 28-25 FD, but Hou 554-551 TY (5.8-6.6) and Hou 38-22 TOP. Ferguson 33-53-471-1-1 (school record yards). Miller caught 10-178. RB Taylor led with just 39y on 14 att with 4TD (school record). Postma 29-40-315-1-1, 49 rushing. Birden and Catalon combined 171y 4 TD.

31-28 Army in OT. Army led 7-0 then blk’d a punt setting up a short TD drive for 14-0 lead. Temple answered with 50y TD run and 37y TD pass to tie. In the 3rd Tem missed a FG off the upright, but got a 36y TD run for 21-14 lead. Army tied on 44y TD run. With less than 2m left Temple went back up 28-21. Army put in their passing QB Kelvin Hopkins with just 1:31 Army took over at their own 21. They converted 3rd down 3x including 3rd-and-15, 3rd-and-10 and 3rd-and-1 for a great back shoulder TD pass to tie with 1sec left! In OT Army had to kick a FG and Temple missed their second of the game. Temple started rJr Frank Nutile at QB along with 3 new rJr starters on OL. 24-19 FD and 506-389 TY (7.4-5.7) edges for Temple. You can buy Army bowl tickets Monday.

20-14 UConn was up 20-0, but had to hold on til the final play. Tulsa’s first 8 drives resulted in 6 punts, an INT and missed FG. Their last 3 drives resulted in 2 TDs and 1 shot at the EZ as time expired. Tulsa started at their own 12 with :59 left a PI and 50y pass got them to the UC9 with :01 left. As everyone hurried downfield, instead of the ref starting the clock after spotting the ball they waited until Tulsa was set to start the clock and they had one pass into the EZ that fell incomplete. I’ve never seen a winning HC so mad as Edsell charged the refs to show his anger with how they handled the clock on the final play. Tulsa had 23-19 and 453-441 TY (6.3-6.2). UConn D got 6 sacks. Shirreffs 23-29-372-1-0, 24 rush. Skipper QB’d all but the entire game 17-27-259-0-1, 24 rush. Tul LB Edmiston had 17 tkl.

31-21 UCF never trailed, but got good fight from Navy. UCF scored on their opening possession and Navy went 3-and-out twice. UCF had the ball at the N3, but Navy stuffed them 3x including 4th down and Navy got their O going in the 2nd qrt. Keyed by a 40y play-action-pass Navy went on to tie 7-7. A 58y KO ret set up UCF and they scored 5 plays later. 14-7. In the final minutes of the first half, Navy moved quick and got a 30y TD run, but it was called back by penalty. Next play Abey threw an INT. In the 3rd play-action worked again for Navy on a 75y TD pass for 14-14 tie. UCF had the lead 15 sec later on a 79y Killins pitch-out run. 21-14. Abey was knocked out of the game and Navy turned to QB Garret Lewis who had only run one career play. Navy was SOD at CF39 and UCF kicked 35y FG. 24-14 late 3rd qrt. Lewis’ second drive was a 10p 75y effort again keyed by a big pass play. 24-21 Knights early 4th. UCF threw an INT, a 30y return was brought back by penalty. Lewis’ inexperience showed on an option play he didn’t draw the D to him and pitched early resulting in the CB forcing a fumble on the RB and UCF would add a TD with under 4m left. Navy’s final two drives were SOD with a 6y run on 4th-and-7 and an INT on 4th-and-10. 22-19 FD and 483-419 (7.3-5.7) TY edges for UCF.

31-28 SMU wins in OT. SMU scored on their first 2 drives and threw an INT on their 3rd and couldn’t stop Cincy who scored on their first 4 to take a 20-14 lead before SMU went back up 21-20. Each team missed a FG and each team had 70+y drive in 4th qrt with Cincy getting a 2pt conv to tie 28-28. In OT SMU ran for a loss and was sacked and faced 4th-and-26. Hicks scrambled and fired a 28y pass to Quinn to stay alive. They kicked a FG then for Cincy on 3rd down Moore was under heavy pressure, nearly wrapped up for a sack and carelessly flipped the ball out to a RB, the ball was tipped up and SMU INT’d ending the game instead of attempting a 4th down tying FG att. FD, TY even. Cincy ran for 249 (5.9) , SMU passed for 295 (70%). Quinn was targeted 21 times catching 17-186.

33-17 ECU pulled away in the second half after a 10-10 tie at HT. Minshew replaced Sirk who was injured. They combined 20-30-177-2-0. FD and TY essentially even. BYU’s 421y were the lowest allowed by ECU this year. They were SOD at the E4 and 48 and missed a FG from the 24. Each team had a short TD setup by a TO. ECU kicked FGs of 42, 42, 32, 33.

34-28 USF got out to a 34-7 lead when they threw an INT at the T21 and Tul would go down for TD. USF had a FG missed and Tul would get another TD mid 4th qrt. After an USF recovered the onside kick they had a FG blk’d and Tul went down for a 3rd straight TD with 3m left. Onside kick was recovered by USF who got to the T9 before taking knees. Earlier in the game trailing by 7 Tulane did have a TD called back by penalty and had to punt. 25-21 FD and 505-415 TY for USF with 208 of Tul’s yards coming on their final 4 drives. USF broke the record with it’s 24th game of 30+ pts.

Big Ten

14-12 Rutgers gets it’s first ever back-to-back B1G wins. Pur had 25-8 FD and 474-217 (5.6-3.9) TY edges, but had two good drives end in FGs from the 9 and 7. They were also SOD 3x either near midfield or in Rut territory plus threw 2 INTs. Rut scored on 74y TD run and 35y TD pass. Other than their TD drive in the 2nd H Rut’s other 6 possessions gained NEG –5 yards. Not counting victory formation, Rut ran 10 total plays in Pur territory. Pur scored with :25 left, but their 2 pt was no good and onside kick went out of bounds. Pur receivers had several drops including atleast 5 on 3rd down. Rescigno 9-18-87-1-0. Edwards led in rushing 12-94 (74 on 1 play). Sindelar 15-29-0-2, Blough 8-15-57-1-0. Knox led rushing 13-84 (41 on 1 play). Rut LB Morris 15 tkl.

17-10 Northwestern in OT in a game that saw nine 4th down attempts (combined 4 of 9). Iowa’s first two drives netted 118y but ended in SOD and missed FG. A 61y reception to the N16 by Vandeberg before HT led to a Iowa 7-0 lead. NW’s five first H possessions were 4 punts and a SOD. It was the opposite in the second half, Iowa had no O in the second half, their first 4 drives netting just 23y. While NW gained 113y on their first 3 drives leading to 10-7 lead. Iowa tied with 1:30 left. In OT NW got a 23y pass to Jackson on 3rd and 9 to the 1 where they would score. Iowa faced 4th-and-3, but Noah Fant dropped a pass that hit him right in the numbers. 21-14 FD and 339-312 (4.1-4.7) edges for NW.

38-13 Wisconsin got up 7-0 thanks to a TJ Edwards pick-six. Badger O was not sharp, turned it over on their first two possessions, the second led to a 3p 0y FG drive for Terps. 7-3 UW. UW did get it going with two 70+y TD drives and missed a FG before HT for a 21-3 lead. UW extended 28-3, but Terps scored next 10. 28-13 entering 4th qrt. Terps got INT, but penalty whipped it out and UW would go on for TD 35-13. Alvarez must’ve got word to Chryst to get the cover, with just :36 left and a 4th-and-1 from the 15 ,UW kicked a FG for the 25 pt win. 23-18 FD, 440-268 (6.8-4.1) TY for Badgers. Jonathan Taylor 22-128-2TD.

17-9 Michigan St scored 2 TDs in the 4th qrt for the win. IU kicked FGs of 33, 44, 20 building a 9-3 lead. In the 4th MSU would take the lead gaining 16y on 3rd-and-19 and convert on 4th-and-3 on their way to a TD with under 6m left. After an IU punt, MSU converted 3rd-and-8 and 3rd-and-9 eating clock. With no timeouts and MSU with the Ball at the I18, IU HC feared MSU was going to take kneel downs, they allowed LJ Scott to score for the 17-9 lead with 1:49 left. Like earlier, when IU got the ball back they could do nothing with it. 274-253 TY for MSU. IU D got 3 sacks, MSU credited with 8 qbh.

24-17 Minnesota had more rushing yards (292) than ILL had total yards (282) and led 24-10 after a pick-six before ILL added a late TD with :23 left. ILL’s first TD was set up off a fumble just a 2p 15y “drive”. Croft struggled 5-15-47-1-2 so they kept to the ground with two 100y rushers. ILL started George 18-23-128-1-0, but also used Cam Thomas for the first time as a running option (2-4-33-0-1 passing and led in rushing with 79y). Min D got 3 sacks. Minn fumbled 4x, lost 1. Minn –2 TOs, ILL –3.

42-13 Penn St jumped out 14-0 early with 69y Barkley TD run followed by a 4p 78y TD drive. Mich O went three-and-out twice, but PSU threw an INT at the M16 which was returned 25y and sparked Michigan on a 11p 59y TD drive (Mich scored on 4th down after 4 cracks from inside the 3). 14-6 xpt no good. Another PSU stop in Mich territory (SOD a M33) again got the UM O going with a 8p 67y drive to trail just 13-14 with under 2m left in the half. But PSU wasted no time quickly going 75y to go up 21-13 HT. Mich only crossed midfield once in the second half while PSU went 9-80y, 2-46y, 4-48y for 3 TDs. Nits would’ve scored more if they'd had time. 25-16 FD, 506-269 (8.3-3.8) TY for PSU. PSU D got 7 sacks.

Big Xll
13-10 Oklahoma St in OT. Texas P Dickson kept OSU backed up with their first two drives starting inside their own 10 (avg start own 17 in first half, 5 of his punts downed inside the 20 in the game), but they were able to go 10p 96y for 7-0 lead. OSU then fumbled at T14. Texas next possession featured a pass to John Burt that could’ve been stopped for a 10y gain, but he somehow tightroped the sideline and went 90y to the 2 leading to Ehlinger TD run. 7-7. Tex had the ball at the O27, but Ehlinger was sacked/fumbled OSU tried to scoop-score but Tex fell on the ball all the way back to the T39. Tex opened the 3rd with a drive to O9 1st and goal, but kicked a 22y FG to lead 10-7. OSU had few opportunities for big plays they are known for but in the 3rd Rudolph found McCleskey wide open for a would-be untouched TD, but the pass was dropped and they punted. OSU later had 1st-and-goal at the 1, but had to settle for a 19y FG to tie. OSU missed a 29y FG with 2-1/2 min left. There were 3 punts. OSU was at their own 8 with 1:14 left, cautious to not make a mistake, they played for OT and punted with :19 left to the T29. In OT OSU had to kick a FG and Ehlinger on 3rd down, instead of throwing the ball away, tried to make a play into the EZ lofted a soft pass to a spot that was easily INT’d. 26-13 FD and 428-283 TY edges for OSU. Tex held to just 42 rushing.

31-13 Iowa State led 7-6 when TT fumbled on back-to-back drives leading to 10 ISU pts off just 55y of offense. TT then missed a FG from the I17 and Clones took that drive 10p 80y for 24-6 HT lead. ISU had trouble keeping drives going in the second half. TT cut it to 13-24 and was driving when ISU LB made a great INT and ret’d it 61y for TD and 31-13 lead in the 4th qrt. TT’s final two drives only amounted to 45 yards. 400-336 TY (5.9-4.1) for ISU.

42-35 Oklahoma in a wild one. KSt jumped out front on 2nd play of the game with 75y TD run. OU wasted no time to tie. KSt had 63y drive nearly all on the ground but fumbled on 1st down at the O12. But OU punted and KSt went right back down for 14-7 lead. Mayfield threw INT in EZ and KSt QB Delton ran for 26 and 21y on the way to a 21-7 lead! OU was SOD at the K19. A KSt INT breathed life back into Sooners and they got a FG out of it for the 21-10 HT score. OU came out hot, scoring first 3 drives of the 2nd half and holding KSt in check to lead 28-21. A bad punt snap set up KSt at the O13 and Cats were able to tie 28-28. A 66y pass led to OU getting lead back 35-28 with 6m left. Delton would go 3-of-3 passing next drive with big plays to Pringle to tie again. 35-35. OU started at their own 24 with 2m left, they got in FG range to K22 where they got a TD run with :07 left. 28-18 FD and 619-412 TY (7.8-7.4) TY for Sooners.

38-36 West Virginia came from down 18 last week and nearly let Baylor come from 25 down this week. It was 38-13 late 3rd qrt when Baylor burned the redshirt of QB Charlie Brewer. Starting QB Zach Smith was sick and had been sacked 5x and didn’t want to put him out there again, so they looked to Brewer to get some work. A 52y TD pass and onside kick recovery gave the Bears hope and after a 40y TD run the game was just 38-27 with nearly the entire 4th qrt. WVU went three-and-out and Baylor drove 13p 69y for 23y FG to trail by just 1 score. WVU only had the ball a minute and had to punt again to the B14 with 4-1/2m left. It was a long 16p 4 min drive, with Bay got the TD but failed on a sacked 2 pt att. WVU recovered the onside kick. WVU O was held to 11y on 9 plays in the 4th qrt. 30-23 FD and 497-493 TY for Baylor (284y on final 4 drives). WV only ran for 118 (4.1) to Bay’s 127 (3.0). Grier 26-37-375-5-0. In relief Brewer 8-13-109-2-0

43-0 TCU romps. KU converted a 3rd-and-13 on their opening drive for a first down, they would gain just 3 more FD the entire game and go three-and-out on their next 8 drives. KU has been shutout for the first time in back-to-back games since 1986. 21y is the fewest by an FBS team in 20 years. KU had just 3 yards in the first half. Their longest drive of the game was a 7p 17y possession to end the game. TCU racked up 475y mostly through 3-1/2 qrts before they shut it down. TCU D had 4 sacks and 11 TFL.

CUSA

35-31 WKU benefits from 4 ODU turnovers (+2 overall). ODU came from behind to lead in the second half, but WKU overcame a 10 pt deficit for the win. Up by 3 ODU threw a first down INT into double coverage setting WKU up to take the lead. ODU’s next two drives also ended in TOs, a Lawry fumble on 4th and 1 at the W26 (most likely would’ve got the first if not fumble) and their final drive was INT’d. 448-416 (6.1-6.1) TY for ODU.

38-10 Marshall took their opening possession 8p 75y to lead 7-0 then benefited from INT and fumble for D TD and 18y TD “drive” on their way to a 31-10 HT lead. Mar 21-15 FD and 366-273 (5.3-4.3) TY for Herd. Marshall D had 6 sacks and was +2 TOs.

69-31 FAU scored on all 7 first half possessions to build a 41-7 HT lead, they would score on their first 4 second half possessions as well. NT turned it over on their first two drives while FAU got up 17-0 and lost a 3rd TO later in first half. 37-25 FD and 804-420 TY (9.7-5.2) TY edges for FAU. 804 yards are a conference and school record (several other school records broke).

25-24 Charlotte in OT. UAB was off dramatic wins the last 2 weeks and this one went the other way on them. Blazers led 17-0 and the Char ineffective first half O came to life in the second half after a punt fumble at the UAB35 led to Char’s first TD after they took a FG off the board due to a roughing the kicker penalty.
