Navy used 4 QBs in the loss at SMU with Perry and Abey both leaving the game due to injury. SMU kicked 26y FG and Navy converted 4-and-1 2x on their way to 7-3 lead. SMU was SOD at the N11, but Navy fumbled it back and SMU would have a 10-7 lead. Navy had a 50y TD run called back due to chop block penalty. SMU fumbled at N18, then with :11 left in the 1st H Navy fumbled it back, but SMU missed a 47y FG. 10-7 HT. Navy got on top 14-10 on a 25y TD pass from Garrett Lewis (3rd string Navy QB). Cincinnati was called for 5 personal foul penalties in the first half (including a roughing punter then on another drive two roughing the QB). Syracuse led 21-0, 31-14 HT and 41-14 entering the 4th qrt, 51-21 F. UConn did fumble at S33, own 14 and threw and INT at the S05. Syracuse fumbled at the goal line going in. Penn State fumbled on their first drive at the I20, missed a FG and threw INT at own 44 with :28 left in the half (led to ILL FG). PSU scoring drives went 9p 70y, 11p 75y and 8p 66y for TDs. ILL also missed a FG, but had 6p 74y and 5p 75y TD drives plus a FG to trail just 17-21 HT. ILL came out in the 3rd qrt 9p 75y for a surprising 24-21 lead! PSU would score the next 42 pts!! Two of PSU’s 2nd H TD drives went a total of 21y after ILL INTs. PSU 31-26 FD, 591-411 TY (8.3-5.4 ypp), 387-245 RY (7.6-5.4 ypc). Each team lost 2 TOs. Michigan scored TDs on 3 straight poss, Nebraska 1st H possessions were INT, punt, punt, punt, fum, punt, punt, safety (included five 3-and-outs). 39-0 HT. It was more of the same in the 2nd H, NU went 3-and-out three of their first 4 poss while Mich ran a punt back 60y for TD and had a 56y TD pass from McCaffrey. 491-132 TY (6.5-2.4 ypp) for Mich. Ohio State led 42-6 (Tulane blk’d xpt). Only score of the 2nd H was OSU TD with 1min left when they were clearly trying to score before time ran out. TU only had one drive in their first eight get into OSU terr, a drive which OSU actually got an INT, but were offside and then kept it alive with a D PI call. Key play on that drive was a 38y nice catch by Encalade. That made it 21-6. Otherwise TU didn’t have much O. OSU went 4-and-out, 3-and-out, SOD at the T15 before they took over with 3-1/2 min left and go 8p 70y for the spread covering TD. TU’s 2nd H drives went punt, punt, punt, SOD at O30. Boston College went 3-and-out on 5 of their first 7 possessions. The other was a 9p 38y TD drive and the 7th an INT. With the game tied 7-7, Rondale Moore had a 70y TD catch and run (knee appeared down, but replay could not overturn). BC had an INT and return to the P17 negated by an offside penalty when the score was 13-7. A Moore punt return set up a 4p 34y drive for a 20-7 lead, then an INT with 1min left led to a 5p 2y TD and a 23-7 HT lead. BC’s O was no better in the 2nd H, punt, INT, INT, INT, SOD ,TD with :18 left. But PU O went fum, TD, fum, punt, missed FG, punt. 30-13 F. Michigan State went 8p 60y for 7-0 lead, then got deflected pass pick-six…14-0. Both teams struggled to do much on O in the 1st H. With 1:23 left Lewerke went 5-out-7 leading a 7p 74y TD drive to lead 21-7 HT. IU was sacked on back-to-back plays to start the 3rd. Iowa was SOD a the W05 on their second drive. Driving 11p 96y with a 33y pass, Wisconsin took a 7-0 lead early 2nd qrt. Iowa got a 46y pass on 3rd and 9, then a 20y TD pass to tie 7-7. Iowa fumbled a punt, but Wisconsin had to punt. 7-7 HT. Iowa got a 45y pass on 3rd down to the W06 but on 4th down kicked a 24y FG…10-7. Iowa player wasn't looking on a punt and touched the ball with his foot, first punt fumble didn't cost them, this one did as UW was set up for a 3p 10y TD “drive” to lead 14-10 late 3rd qrt. A personal foul aided Iowa in driving 8p 75y for TD and they retook the lead 17-14. 4 punts. With under 6min left in the game UW was at their own 12. Mixing run and pass Hornibrook led a 10p 88y TD drive, Hornibrook was 5-of-5 passing on the drive including a 17y TD pass. 21-17 :57 left. Stanley threw an INT and Ingold broke a 33y TD run with :22 left. 28-17 F. Iowa tried doing some meaningless last play laterals and were tackled at midfield. FD and TY essentially even slight edge UW 415-404 (6.3-7.5). Iowa was only called for 1 penalty (15y), UW 8pen-68y. Iowa -3 TOs. UW did not turn it over. Both teams were good on 3rd down 45-50%, Iowa 0-for-1 on 4th down (at W05). Punting was key for Wisconsin, not only the Iowa fumbled, but UW downed 5 punts inside the 20. Hornibrook 17-22-205-3-0. Texas was +4 TOs with one leading to a 1p 2y TD “drive”. TCU kicked 46, 23, 29y FGs and missed a 41yarder. Texas missed 42 and 43yarders and made a 34y FG. Texas led 7-3 early, TCU led 13-10 HT. TCU went up 16-10, then Texas got a 31y TD pass for a 17-16 lead. Texas’ last 2 TDs were off a fumble and 38y TD pass following a TCU missed FG. Army nearly beat their first top 10 team in 50 years. OU opened with a 6p 68y TD drive. 7-0. Army then went 16 plays killing 9min off the clock for TD. 7-7. OU responded with another 6p 65y TD drive…14-7. Army tied, on another 16p 9min drive….14-14. Army was 3-of-3 4th down on their two TD drives including a 4th-and-8 conversion. OU retook the lead on a 4p drive with a 33y Murray TD run. Army got a sack and forced a punt on OU’s 4th poss…21-14 HT. Army opened 3-and-out, but OU threw an INT at the A15. Army took that 19 plays 85y for 11min drive and tied 21-21 (converted 3rd down 3x and 4th down 1x). OU was SOD at the A01 early 4th qrt! Mond threw his 2nd INT with :19 left in the half and Bama added a 47y FG…31-13 HT with a 295-202 1st H yard edge. aTm went 3-and-out on 4x of their first 5 drives in the 2nd H, kicked a 25y FG on the other. South Carolina opened with a 3p 75y TD drive. Vandy's opening drivers were punt-INT-punt. With just 32y of O on their first 3 poss (the INT didn’t lead to any SC pts). SC led 10-0 when Vandy found some O going 6p 23y after a SC INT and 11p 75y for TDs while SC got a TD and kicked a 35y FG….20-14 HT. Vandy couldn’t do much on O in the 2nd H going 4p punt, 3p punt, 4p sack/fumble, 7p SOD at S32, 3p punt, 13p 24y SOD V49 and ended the game at the S05 for their best drive of the 2nd H 7p 68y. UK D dominated, after MSU gained two first downs and a total of 33y on their first 2 poss combined of the 2nd H, they would lose yardage on 3 of their next 4 possessions of the game with zero first downs. Tennessee turned it over 6x, 3 deep in own territory, 2 deep in Florida territory including a fumble into the EZ. UT had a series spanning the 2nd-3rd qrt where they fumbled 3 straight possessions. UF got 2 easy TDs where the offense had to gain just 26y combined following fumbles plus another TD drive they had to work a little harder for 4p 22y…that would be 48y of O for 21 pts. UF would have leads of 14-0 and 33-3 before UT got about 150y and 2 TDs on their final 4 drives…UF got 38y and 47y TDs for their final scores….47-21 F. UF TY edge 387-364 (7.3-4.6 ypp). Auburn was set up with a nice punt return and went up 7-0 on their first possession. Neither team did much after that. AU missed a FG (gained just 19y after punt return on drive) and made an 18y FG after an Arkansas fumble (gained just 1y on drive before kicking FG). AU was SOD at the AR09, but they would blk a punt and would be set up back at the AR09, Stidham was sacked on 3rd down, but AR was called for personal foul and AU scored a TD 2 plays later…17-0 HT. AR kicked a 29y FG, AU got a 96y KO ret TD for a 24-3 lead although the O for both teams continued to struggle. AU had another good punt return to the AR15, but AU would lose yards and kicked a 43y FG with 3min left. 34-3 F. Auburn had 191 in punt and kick ret yards, their O only had 225y. FD even at 13 each. LT would go 7p 71y and got a 42y TD pass to make it just 24-21! LSU went back up 31-21 on a 12p 70y drive kept alive by a D PI. Replay ruled a 3rd down LT play inches short of a FD and LT would be SOD next play at the L46 and 7p later LSU had a 38-21 lead 2min left. 38-21 F. Arkansas State was +3 TO margin vs UNLV. Rogers completed just 5-0f-23 passing! ASU led 6-0 (bad xpt snap) when they INT’d UNLV at the A09 (ball thrown from A33). UNLV got a 41y TD run to lead 7-6. ASU D then would get another INT at the A02 (ball thrown from A18), ASU would drive 11p 92y for a 13-7 lead at HT. UNLV would muff a punt that ASU recovered at the A02 leading to a 1p 2y “drive” TD…19-7 early 3rd. UNLV was SOD at their own 43. But ASU SOD at LV30 and UNLV would cut it to 19-14. ASU would lose a fumble and this time UNLV benefited off a short field and took a 20-19 lead (2pt no good) late 3rd. UNLV punted from their own 15 and ASU had a 39y TD run to lead 27-20 (2pt good). UNLV punted downed at A02, ASU would gain 36y and punt to flip field position. UNLV threw their third INT this one at the A33 with 5min left. CC QB Kilton Anderson was injured and replaced by 2017 Mr Florida Football Bryce Carpenter. Carpenter threw a 29y TD pass capping a 10p 87y drive..30-21 9min left. ULL cut it to 30-28 5min left, but CC converted 3rd-and-10 and killed the clock. CC had edges 25-17 FD, 497-381 TY (6.8-7.8), 311-238 RY (5.6-7.7), 39-21 TOP. CC -1TO. There was only one TO in the Troy-ULM game, an INT in the EZ that ended ULM’s comeback hopes with :29 left. ULM led 7-0, but it was all Troy from there as the ULM O was shut down and Troy 5 straight 1st H TDs, 4 of which were long drives…35-7 HT. Polar opposite 2nd H as Troy gained just 1 FD on their first 4 drives while ULM was going 81 and 78 and 65 yard drives for TDs. 35-27 (missed xpt). Troy finally moved the ball but would miss a 46y FG with 2:24 left giving ULM hope. Evans completed 5-of-6 on the drive moving them to the T11 with a 1st down under 1min to play.
