my "of interest" picks so far but NOT bet yet. waiting to see off season player movements :shake:

Winnipeg Jets 5-1 Western Conference @ Westgate
Edmonton Oilers 12-1 Western Conference @ William Hill
Florida Panthers 25-1 Eastern Conference @ William-Hill

I wouldn't take the Jets future. You can get more than 5-1 rolling the series' over. I wouldn't take any of the favorites.

YES probably correct. the Las Vegas sportsbooks are obviously "skittish" on their odds after getting SMOKED by the VGK last season. the big underdogs last year opened at least 100-1 Conference and 200-1 Stanley Cup. VGK were as high as 500-1 Stanley Cup on the open at Westgate :shake:

Like LRR said id wait on player movement before anything is done

Most of the insider guys like Friedman, mckenzie, dreger etc (wojs of the nhl) are expecting a really busy summer, especially between the draft, which is under 2 weeks from now, and FA on july 1

JT is a big fish, but teams like edmonton, pittsburgh, toronto, Carolina, LA and others should be really busy

Also this should make VK happy, he has some positive stuff on the knights, expects them to look at EK trade again and also

What comes next in Vegas will be fascinating. They’ve got a ton of cap room, a boatload of flexibility and players from all over the league asking their agents about going there. It’s a destination.

Gerard Gallant’s reputation for being a players’ coach is growing, too,

Cant believe they didnt give up cody glass to get EK, i like glass, think he can be a good 2nd line C in a few years, but for the best d man in the game, and they already have a good prospect pool, and outside this year are stocked with draft picks in 2019 and 2020

One name that could change things and there are rumors of him being moved again are PK, edmonton badly needs an elite d man

as I said in other threads during the playoff, this town has taken to the VGK in such a way that any player is treated like royalty here. I want VGK GM George McPhee to make a play for BOTH the Capitals Jay "Snoopy" Beagle who is a UFA and Devante Smith-Pelly who is an RFA. also need a stronger backup for Marc-Andre Fleury than Malcolm Subban who seems to be an injured all the time. some good UFA goalies like the Avalanche Jonathan Bernier ( 29 years old with $2.75 million salary last season) and the Blues Carter Hutton (32 years old with $1.125 million last season) BUT their age does NOT address the need for a goalie to be groomed to be Fleury's successor in a couple years. the ideal candidate would be the Predators Juuse Saros who is a 23 years old RFA and pretty much "platooned" last season with Pekka Rinne BUT it is doubtful that Nashville would NOT match any offer

that panthers future looks promising

the Cats HAVE maybe THE best core of "young gun" forwards in the league with Alex Barkov (78 points in 79 games) Vincent Trocheck (75 points in 82 games), Jonathan Huberdeau (69 points in 82 games) Evgenii Dadonov (65 points in 74 games) and Nicky Bjugstad (49 points in 82 games) along with top offensive D-man Aaron Ekblad (38 points in 82 games) who "quarterbacks" the power play. these guys are ALL in their early to mid 20's ex for former KHL star Dadonov who is 29

BUT the Cats really need to upgrade their D & G. Roberto Luongo is getting pretty "long in the tooth" at 39 years old and I do NOT think James Reimer is really of "starter" quality. perhaps the Avalanche Jonathan Bernier would be a good fit there. "Bernie" was a prime reason why the Avalanche went from worst to making the playoffs last season

of course the ONE big problem with the Cats is really STUPID ownership that just does NOT give a damn. Vinnie Viola is obviously the WORST owner in the league who does NOT know HOW to market his team or even CARE. the Cats are always playing at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida before a half empty house

I think saros takes over for rinne within the next couple years, they love him

Someone takes a run at grubauer i think, i like bernier as a backup option, fluery should only be playing 60 games anyway, and he does have injury history, so i think you need a reliable backup option who can go 30 or so

I actually dont mind their goaltending right now, Luongo was having a great season, and he might only be able to play 45 games now, pairing him with a 1b can be successful

Montembault may be ready to backup a year from now

They have all that young nhl talent, but also loaded in prospects

Hockey news future watch a few months ago had the top 100 prospects

Borgstrom was 10th and tippett 22nd, both may contribute next year

Heponiemi their 2nd round pick had a monster year in the dub too

Tallon is a bad gm though, so there is always a risk

hell Dale Tallon built the Blackhawks championship teams as their GM. the Cats came "unstuck" when Vinnie Viola "promoted" him and made "Elmer Fudd" Rowe the GM. HE is the idiot that fired Gerard Gallant. Tallon is the reason the Cats have ALL those "young gun" players. Viola sobered up and made him GM again BUT that "squeezer" will NOT let him spend any money

Tallon had big issues internally with the panthers

They hired about 4 guys from the Vancouver area, very analytics based, that were involved in changing the direction of the team, everything from FA signings to most importantly the draft. They had built a system to analyze draft picks and based on past history project their likilihood to become nhlers, i believe the basis for that was play 200 games, and also their projected points and role if they did, based off the history of players with similarities

Florida was using this model for a few years and building well with it, but tallon through some kind of power play got the gm job back and hes not into analytics at all, so he basically undid all the guys the analytics team had brought in or identified as important, and its been a disaster

Culminating in the expansion draft where he gave up a 30 goal scorer and a 2nd line center, whom the analytics team loves, to keep a 5th d man in pysyk

He set them back a few years and may continue to do so, team should be a contender in a few years. His drafting is weak too imo, his top 5 picks have worked out, they should.

But last i saw, it may have changed since it was last summer, but in the 2012 to 2014 drafts not one pick after round 1 has become a quality nhler for the cats

Draft history in chicago was poor as well, he came in after keith and seabrook were in, he didnt contribute much at all

Look at these drafts

Hjalmersson only one outside kane and toews who contributed, and they were slam dunk picks 1st and 3rd overall

looks like NY islanders future is promising as well now that they got a hell of a coach , what you think LRR ?

I agree always a shame watching panthers talented young guns playing in half empty arenas ... poor guys get no support. they got a little bit after those shootings and went a big winning streak. i think if they had that all the time they would be huge contenders

GOTTA check in with LRR before locking in any future bets , hes the man :shake::tiphat:

have NOT seen anything YET about Barry Trotz taking over in Brooklyn. that organization is SUCH a MESS they could have the second coming of Al Arbour and STILL screw up :nonofinger:

btw IF the Florida Panthers moved to Quebec City, you could NOT get a ticket. EVERY game would be a SELLOUT. with that "young gun" lineup they have the potential to be THE most exciting offensive team in the LEAGUE :shake:

Quebec panthers... has a nice ring to it i gotta say . i heard Trotz signed with islanders, maybe just a rumor , but if true he could give them huge boost . last i looked NY islanders future for cup was like 65 to 1

"Le Feline de Glace" (The Ice Cats) :)

BEST odds in Las vegas now 60-1. have to be careful with betting the "Coney Island Weenies" until we see WHAT John Tavaras does this summer. all kinds of speculation that George McPhee will make a play for him to come to the VGK although I do NOT know IF he would really be a good "fit" here. seems like he has to be the "star" and is kind of "me, me me and did I tell you about ME?" type personality which is NOT the "Knight's of the Round Circle" way. that would also mean BOTH James Neal AND David Perron would be GONE because the VGK could NOT afford them AND Tavaras

My Rangers may as well be 1,000,000-1 to win the Cup after what they did last trade deadline and the awful draft they had. My only hope is winning the next lottery and Jack Hughes.
