Northern Trust picks

New podcast name came out today. Thank you to everyone who listens. Hoping to bring the excitement of our golf community to other sports! Here are the picks for this week!!!

Tiger Woods ov Jason Day

I can’t believe I’m betting on Tiger ov Jason Day, but Tiger looks on a mission, and these numbers don’t lie. Tiger has finished ahead of Jason Day in 4 of the last 5 tournaments they’ve played in together. Here’s the other thing. Jason Day hasn’t cracked into the top 10 since The Players. So Day has been good, but not elite. Tiger has 3 top 6 finishes in his last 4 tournaments, and the other thing I love about this play is that this course can be navigated without driver. Three woods, and irons can be used off the tees, and that’s been Tigers big problem. Hit no fairways on the front 9 at the PGA, and still finished 2nd.

Ian Poulter ov Phil Mickelson

Ian Poulter is playing great golf right now, and is fighting for a spot on the Ryder Cup Team that he already probably has locked up. Phil is not playing good golf now, MC, 24, 24, MC, 65, 48 in his last 5 finishes. Poulter 31, 10, 12, mc, 30, 21, 25, 8. Poulter has beat Phil head to head in 4 out of the last 5 tournaments coming into this week, and even though the Northern Trust switches courses, and tournament history is not very important in handicapping, Phil has 3 finishes outside the top 50 in 3 of the last 4 years.

Tony Finau ov Matt Kuchar

Kuchar sure seems to be slowing down as this season comes to an end. He’s only missed 4 cuts this entire season, but they’ve all come after May 20, and he’s missed the cut in 2 out of the last 3 weeks. Finau, on the other hand has been really good coming down the stretch, only 1 missed cut since April. He’s made the cut in 6 straight tournaments, and in big tournaments this year with stacked fields, he’s been great. 10th at the Masters, 5th US Open, 9th The British, 10th WGC Bridgestone, 42nd at the Pga Championship. Finau’s played this tournament 3 times, never missed the cut, including 2 top 16s.

Brian Yag ov Chesson Hadley
Brian Yag has been shockingly good recently, while Chesson Hadley continues his lackluster end to the season. Brian Yag has 1 missed cut in then last 11 tournaments, including 6 top 20s in that span. Chesson Hadley started out pretty strong, and had a good middle of the year, but it was mostly playing in weak tournaments like the Houston Open, RBC Heritage, Valero, and Zurich. But now as we get into the tough tournaments he missed the cut at the US Open, Travelers, The British, and PGA Championship, 72nd at the John Deere and 45th at the Wyndham.

Abraham Ancer ov Aaron Wise

Since his win, Aaron Wise has made the cut 1 time in 7 tournaments. This is just a fade of him. Abraham Ancer has been ok, not great…7 made cuts in the last 10 tournaments he’s played in, and since Aaron Wise’s win, they’ve played in 2 tournaments together…Ancer has beaten him in both of those.

LIKE all ex for the last. "Wise Guy" actually showed some life @ Bridgestone tied 6th [-8]. "A-A" "blew up" his final round @ Wyndham with a final round [+1] to finish tied 24th [-12]. GOOD tourneys in Canada solo 5th [-17] and tied 4th with Tiger @ National [-11] though SO will just NOT bet the match

GOOD LUCK, Andy :shake:

wonder IF CT Pan's little wife cut him off him after his twitter comments last week ??? think she will carry for him this week ??? might have thrown his clubs in a lake. LOL!!!

I'm guessing CT's wife got mad at him, then he quickly reminded her how she lives like a queen married to a guy on the PGA Tour. Then she paused..... and asked if she could watch more film on his mid-irons play so she could find some things to tweak on the practice range.

after the CUT

Tiger Woods [even] ov Jason Day [-5]:(
Ian Poulter [even] ov Phil Mickelson [-6] :(
Tony Finau [-6] ov Matt Kuchar [-1]:)
Brian Yag [-3] ov Chesson Hadley [-1]:)
Abraham Ancer [+1] CUT ov Aaron Wise [-4]
I was SCARED of that Ancer play because his final round @ Wyndham :golffrustrated:

well I'll be swizzled. the "Wise Guy" kid gets tied 5th with a final [-4] (and that with a bogie on #18) for tourney [-12]. Tiger, the "Poulter-geist" and Yag guy BIG disappointments. Yag blew that lead after the CUT. at least Tony Finau held up his end with solo 2nd [-14] and SMOKED "Kooch"
