I got Francisco Vargas within minutes after the line dropped. Opened at -120 both ways. I played it for 2u. I think the low line was an overreaction to the Ponce KO, and the JuanMa name. Within 20 minutes Vargas was up to -190.

Like Herrera, but would like to see it a little lower.

Lara/Canelo is interesting. If Lara can keep distance and play to his strengths, he's going to out box Canelo. I have no doubt of that. But if Canelo is able to close the distance, pin Lara, and fire combinations, he wins. Most people know how high I am on Lara. I picked him in a landslide over Trout and honestly believe he may be the biggest threat to Mayweather, out there. I believe if he survives early, he's going to win most of these rounds. Canelo fights in spurts. He's not going to out box Lara like that. At least, I'd be floored if he did. Which means I think he needs to up his aggression. Which brings into play, his questionable stamina. If he comes out more aggressive, and DOESN'T finish Lara off, how fresh will he be in the latter rounds?

Seems like a no brainer, right? Play Lara and collect the cash. Except for the important factor. The judges. We've seen Lara pretty decisively out box Paul Williams, only to be ripped off on the judges cards. On the flip side, we've seen Canelo arguably lose every round to Mayweather, and somehow still get rewarded with a draw on one of the cards. I question whether Lara can win the fight without a knockout. Surely if Lara wins in dominant fashion, they can't rob him blind. Not after the fuss that was made over the draw card in Canelo/Mayweather.

I've ruled out Lara by KO. I just don't see it. He's got some pop. Not the kind of pop that knocks you out. But enough to keep you honest. And even when he has his man hurt, he doesn't necessarily go for the kill. So what I'm saying is this....

I only think Lara can win by decision, but I'm not sure he can win by decision. Get it? Got it? Good.

I dunno, I think Lara's straight left is enough to KO anyone. Especially in the later rounds. I was pretty high on canelo when this fight was announced, but watching both of their old fights, I just don't see how canelo is gonna catch and or outsmart Lara. I'm all in on Lara. He's quicker, smarter, and has better defense. Lara is the better boxer and I'm gettin plus money, sold.

No way I'd play Canelo at -210. He was -165 earlier. I'm just gonna ride with Lara and hope for the best.

Mauricio Herrera -140. 2u

Francisco Vargas -120. 2u

Lara by 12 round decision +285. 1u.

Can't see any reason not to sprinkle a little on the draw, at +2000 on Lara/Canelo.

Maybe....but what have you seen from Canelo that suggests anyone knocks him out?

Tough bet in this fight....how juiced is the over?

The only boxer canelo fought was floyd, and he touched him all day. I'm not saying Lara is on Floyd's level, but I think he's the second best boxer canelo will see. We haven't really seen canelo's chin get tested. I think canelo has a tendency to plant his feet way too often and show his cards, I think Lara's superior boxing skills and power can expose that hole in canelo's game. My bigger fear is Lara getting up in the first 3 or 4 rounds and this Lara getting cocky and this turning into angulo pt 2.

With the all that being said, I ain't betting the under, ha.

My biggest fear playing Lara (who I feel is easily the better overall fighter) is him having to win a decision against three judges. Canelo was out worked 2-1 and out landed by Trout and won a landslide decision. Canelo literally lost every round to Floyd and, as jab has stated, drew on one card. If Canelo doesn't turn this into a all out slug fest like Angulo did, Lara's style can make for rounds the judges find hard to give him. Even when he's laying a beating on a guy as evidenced by the Paul Williams decision.

This fight is at a bullshit, renegotiated, catch-weight and wont even have Lara's ridiculous fake WBA belt on the line. It already has fishy decision written all over it. With that said I highly doubt I will avoid getting my gambooool on if we see Lara decision creep above +400 again. I would say that keeping wagers at a prudent 1 unit is the right move by you guys even though Lara +175 or better seems like outrageous value.

wait. what did I miss? website?

At times we'll get drunk enough to start spilling the beans about the website we're working on. Turkas has been grinding the tweeter hard already though. I'm a 33 year old curmudgeon that refuses to do the twitter thing but you can talk shit to him all you want here:

https://twitter.com/3bmboxing

Elb, you'll enjoy it. I consider it basically taking our drunken haze boxing threads on big fight nights and turning it into a more long form narrative content website. It's a place where Turk can put up all his writings about Hunter S. Thompson like fight trips and where I can somewhat coherently babble about what I love and hate about the fight game. We have a very good buddy who is an amazing web designer working on this in his spare time with us.

Naw I knew. Was just trolling. My pops is out in Vegas for a convention. Going to tell him to scalp some tickets

Turk already lining up for tix for Mayweather / Maidana 2. You should get to Vegas with em GBL.

You guys fucking wait until Turk starts grinding out press passes to major fights once we get the website up. :dancing:

I had an idea of doing the exact same thing. I've ran a couple of sites. Well, 1 forum, and 2 blogs. I just hit spells where I don't have the time to update them consistently and it all goes to shit.

I was pissed off at the guy dancing around the ring after he had beaten Lacy. I know he's glad he won and everything, but come on, Lacy has been shot to shit for years. You really didn't take any huge step forward or anything. Dude is still just as unproven as he was before the fight.

Mauricio Herrera -140. 2u

Francisco Vargas -120. 2u

Lara by 12 round decision +285. 1u.

Can't see any reason not to sprinkle a little on the draw, at +2000 on Lara/Canelo.

Bellew/Santos o9.5 -110. 1u

Vargas/Lopez "Won't Go Distance" -140. 1u

Fuck, it has been too long! I get caught up on that twitter too much lol.

Tomorrow is gonna be a great fight I think, Canelo should win, but I love a Lara decision at anything above +300.

Where do I go to get Mayweather tickets? When are they on sale?

No idea when tickets will be on sale, probably soon though, I imagine the will be $300, $550, $750, and $1500 like the last fight. I am not officially going, but my wife gave me the go ahead so it is looking very probable.

If y'all are members to the MGM players thing or whatever, they might release the tickets early. I know they've done it with pac and cotto fights in the past, that's the only way I've gotten tickets to big fights in the past. They usually get scooped up real quick, the good seats at least.

GLB, if heavyweight slug fests are your deal sit back and enjoy one of the best ever:
