I just wanted to post this because in the past I have vouched for ACR as a place where players in the US can play a solid game. Tons of stuff are coming out about it now, from proven bots to alleged superusers. Furthermore, the site has been allowing crypto deposits without any proof of ID, which is a beyond huge security leak.

The truth is, bots in online poker are a very very hard thing to police. Top of the line sites that plan on existing long term will try to find ways to deal with them, but sites like ACR are not very motivated to because to be honest, their time is limited anyway. In 5 years online poker will be legal in most states and run on high quality networks (although even then policing bots will be difficult). ACR is like when your solid weed connection exits the game so you start buying above average middies from your friends cousin.

Just wanted to post this because first off, its an interesting story in the poker world and second off, I have played on ACR and recommended it to people here in the past. I will not be depositing any more money into this site.

Poker is the one area where the bottom feeders of the players have always resided in highest quantity, because it is the one area where it is easiest to cheat, historically. The casinos themselves have always been bottom feeders. Make no mistake, the world would be a better place had gambling never been invented. I am not for preventing anyone from providing the service or for preventing anyone from partaking, but it is an endeavor filled with sketchy people at every turn of the head. VP is about the only spot I have had reasonable success of not running into shitheads but even there I have been stolen from.

Where you find money, you will find people trying to steal it, I guess. But it is particularly bad in poker. An incredibly high percentage of scumbags. The high quantity of cheats, thieves, and otherwise shallow and boring people is astounding.

Look beyond just the potential of player cheating. Imagine the site itself cheating.

It's beyond stupid for the site to cheat because of the potential downsisde. These sites literally have to just exist and they print money, so the fact that they get so greedy that they are willing to risk it all is beyond comprehension. But still, you have plenty of examples, the most notorious being Ultimate Bet, which literally had superusers who were playing in tournaments looking at their opponents cards.

I see what you are saying about gambling as a whole. The sad part is it is a fun and exciting hobby when there is no cheating. But there will always be scumbags in the world, and its sad.

Online poker as a whole, legal or not, is going to have to find a way to fix the bot problem because it is very difficult to police. Bots are getting better and better too, now playing almost perfect poker. I'm lucky I live 15 mins from a live casino with good games going most of the time, but sometimes I want to sit on my couch and play some MTTs.

The one saving grace here is that most of the cheating that has been exposed is in smaller stakes tournaments and sit n goes. I like to play the 20k guarantees (the donkaments, if you will) and it looks like that is not where the cheaters hide out.

I think in this case, with ACR, the superuser accusations might be false, but the sites biggest way in being complicent here is just not having good security and having these loopholes that are so easy to exploit.
