2019 Texas Rangers entire season thread

We hang on to win 4-3 our record is now 32-28 we are 7-3 over our last 10
Jurado threw 6 very good innings allowing 8 hits 3 runs all earned struck out 6 walked 1 & gave up a solo HR
Kelley recorded his 7th save
Santana,Pence & Guzman all knocked in one run
We went 1-3 with RISP & left 4 on base only struck out 5 times

Things get a lot tougher now as the A’s come to town

Semien beat us by himself, he knocked in 2 his 2 run blast in the top of the 9th was the difference as we lost 5-3 our record is now 32-29
Lynn was effective throwing 6 innings giving up 2 runs both earned on 6 hits walked 1 struck out 8 & gave up a solo HR
Shelby Miller wasn’t good again & LeClerec gave up the 2 run shot to Semien
Andrus,Mazara & Pence each knocked in one
Deshields went 3/4 batting leadoff
We went 1-10 with RISP & left 9 on base we struck out 7 times

Our SP’s are doing fine, our pen still way to ineffective & can’t get a big hit with RISP
Need to at least split today

Our best day of the year so far, swept the A’s 10-5 & 3-1 our record now stands at 34-29

GM 1: Palumbo threw 4.0 innings gave up 6 hits 4 runs all earned walked none struck out 4 and gave up one HR this was Palumbo’s MLB debut he was called up to help with the DH
Springs got the W his fourth of the year throwing 3.0 innings allowing 2 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 3 and gave up one HR
Mazara & Federowicz each drove in 3 mbo’s
Mazara hit his 9th of the season & Federowicz his first HR as a Ranger, he was just picked up by us on Thursday night as Kiner-Falefa injured his right finger
Cabrera knocked in 2
Elvis chipped in with one
Valdez (RP) threw 2 innings, he’s been in the minors for 10 years he will be sent back to Nashville but look for him to be back with the big team soon
We went 3-14 with RISP & left 9 on base striking out 9 times

GM 2:

We retired the sure HOF’er Adrian Beltre’s number before this game then Sampson went out & threw a complete game he only threw 109 pitches gave up 4 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 7
We needed this effort to save our pen, it’s been so over worked this year
DeShields, Santana & Mathis each drove in one run
We went 1-6 with RISP & left 5 on base and struck out 9 times

Fought until the end but lost 9-8 our record stands at 34-30 our highlight was Odor stealing home in the 8th inning
Smyly got roughed up lasting only 3.0 innings gave up 6 hits 5 runs all earned walked 2 & struck out 3 gave up 2 HR’s both of them two run shots
Shelby Miller once again awful he threw 1.0 inning giving up 3 hits 3 runs all earned walked 1 struck out 1 his ERA is now 9.47
Cabrera & Odor each knocked in 3 runs
We went 4-13 with RISP left 9 on base & we struck out 12 times

In this series we left 32 men on base & 9-43 with RISP
We could have won all 4 of these games, but ended up 2-2 our team can score but the lack of discipline at the plate is troubling as well as not getting key hits
Being 34-30 is surprising do I feel we’ve turned the corner, NO let’s see how the road treats us
Off to Boston for 4 game with the Red Sox starting tomorrow night, let’s see how we do after the Sox then the Reds
I hope for a 4-3 week

It took us 11 innings but we got the W winning 4-3 our record now stands at 35-30
despite falling behind 2-0 in the first inning
Minor was brilliant throwing 8.0 allowing 4 hits 2 runs both earned walked 2 struck out 6 he gave up a two run blast in the first
Kelley blew the save once again his 4th of this season, as he gave up the game tying run in the bottom of the ninth
Mazara drove in 2
Santana & Elvis drove in one run apiece
We went 3-8 with RISP left 4 on base & struck out 15 times

I’d say our biggest win of the season so far, one thing I’m concerned of is Minor pitching so well we trade him

Hunter Pence hit an inside the park HR & we win again in Fenway 9-5 our record is now 36-30
Jurado threw 6.0 innings allowing 5 hits 3 runs all earned walked 3 struck out 6 & gave up 1 HR
Cabrera,Guzman & Pence each knocked in 2 runs
Odor,Mazara & Santana each knocked in one run
We struck out 15 times & went 5-13 with RISP & left 8 on base

Pence has been an amazing pick up he’s now got 43 RBI’s 14 HR’s & batting .284
Odor is still scuffling batting only .176

Am I happy to be 36-30 sure, I keep waiting for the “real” Rangers to show up
Can our pen hold up? not sure
Will Minor keep pitching like a sure all star pick, yes ~ just hope we hold on to him
Could we now be buyers instead of sellers? our ownership hasn’t shown us they are fully committed to this season as of yet
I’m enjoying our latest 7-3 run over last 10 games

Could of,would of, should of won this game instead we lost 4-3 our record is now 36-31
Lynn threw 6 innings giving up 6 hits 3 runs all earned walked 1 struck out 8
Chavez pitched 0.1 gave up 2 hits walked 2 & walked in the winning run
Pence knocked in 2
Elvis knocked in 1
We struck out 10 times went 1-5 with RISP & left 6 on base

Sampson throws tomorrow vs Price

Smyly heading to the pen & wont start on Friday, he was 0-2 with a 17.05 ERA over his last 6.1 innings

Gallo has started to hit off a tee & will DH once off the IL
Willie Calhoun will return on Monday vs the Tribe

Lost 7-6 our record stands at 36-32
Sampson just didn’t have it, he was tagged for 4 HR’s in 5.0 innings giving up 7 hits 6 runs all were earned walked 1 struck out 5
Elvis went 3/5 knocking in 3
Forsythe went 1/3 knocking in 2
Pence went 3/4 knocking in 1
Went 4-17 with RISP & left a ridiculous 14 men on base we also struck out 11 more times

We split the series 2-2 but should have won all 4, amazingly we only hit one HR in the entire series (Pence) & it was an inside the park HR
Now off to Cincinnati I expect to win 2/3, let’s see

Won this game going away 7-1 record now stands at 37-32
Pitching by committee Chavez threw 3 innings allowing 1 hit no runs walked none & struck out 4
Martin & Springs pitched a combined 3 innings struck out 3 & only allowed 1 hit
Smyly threw 3 innings gave up 3 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 5 he did give up a solo HR
Odor went 1/2 but his only hit was a grand slam he also walked 3 times
Mazara & DeShields each drove in one run
Went 2-10 with RISP left 9 on base & struck out 12 times

Minor throws today, I do think we win this game which would guarantee a winning road trip we are currently 3-2 on this trip

Hung on to win 4-3 upping our record to 38-32 the W also guaranteed a winning road trip we are 4-2 heading into today’s game
Minor was ok throwing 6.1 innings allowing 4 hits 3 runs all earned walked 4 struck out 6 he gave up 2 long balls
Kelley got his 8th save
Choo-Choo,Elvis,Cabrera & Mathis all drove in one run
We went 3-13 with RISP left 6 on base & struck out 9 more times

After today’s game we fly home to face the Tribe for four games starting tomorrow night then the White Sox come in for a weekend series

Gallo heads to Arizona tomorrow to start his rehab work, if all goes well he’ll return in a week
Upon his return he will head to LF & Delino will be the everyday CF until he cools off

We got our asses whipped today, losing 11-3 our record is now 38-33
Jurado got lit up lasting only 3 innings giving up 9 hits 7 runs all earned walked 1 struck out none & gave up one HR
Our weary pen had to pitch 5 more innings
Pence knocked in 2 he’s now got 15 HR’s & 48 RBI’s
Choo-Choo knocked in 1
We went 0-1 with RISP & left 5 on base & struck out 12 more times

Tomorrow we face the Tribe for a four game series

Pence went on the 10 day DL with a groin injury, this is a huge loss for the team much bigger than Gallo
Willie Calhoun back in the lineup tonight

Lynn pitched a gem & we cruised to a 7-2 victory our record now stands at 39-33
He threw 7 innings giving up 6 hits 1 run which was earned walked none struck out 9 & did give up a solo HR
Santana hit his 5th HR a two run shot
Andrus knocked in 2
Choo-Choo & Mathis each drove in 1
Went 3-9 with RISP left 5 on base & we struck out 11 more times

Overall a nice way to start the series & week Sampson hits the hill tonight trying to rebound off his last start

Sampson didn’t have it again we got crushed 10-3 our record is now 39-34
He lasted only 3.0 innings gave up 6 hits 5 runs 3 of those were earned walked 2 struck out 4 & gave up 1 HR a three run shot
Smyly was very ineffective yet again he went 3.1 innings he gave up 6 hits 5 runs all of them earned walked 2 struck out 3 & gave up 3 HR’s they went back to back to back
It’s time for Smyly to head to AAA & attempt to figure things out
Odor & Calhoun hit HR’s it was Odor’s 9th & Calhoun’s 3rd
Went 0-2 with RISP left 5 on base & struck out 9 times

Tonight’s game looks like another long night for our bullpen Palumbo takes the mound whatever Indians TT is bet the over

Unfortunately I was correct gave up 5 in the top of the first & lost 10-4 our record now stands at 39-35
Palumbo lasted only 2.0 innings giving up 6 hits 7 runs all of them earned walked 3 struck out 1 and gave up 2 long balls
Cabrera knocked in 2
Santana knocked in 1
We went 0-10 with RISP left 10 on base struck out 9 more times

Last two days our SP’s have been awful & our pen getting a work out, not a successful game plan
Hopefully Minor throws well this afternoon, this game is a big one for us

Minor to the rescue again, not only did he get the W he threw 8 innings which gave our beleaguered pen a rest as we won 4-2 our record now stands at 40-35
His pitching line was 8.0 giving up 3 hits 1 run which was earned walked 3 struck out 4
Elvis went 2/4 knocking in 2 one of his RBI’s came via his 8th HR a solo shot
Santana also went 2/4 knocking in 1 he hit his 7th HR of the season
We went 1-5 with RISP leaving 4 on base struck out 10 more times

Smyly has been DFA’d after the game & Palumbo was sent down to AAA
Jesse Chavez (RHP) is coming into the rotation as of Tuesday vs the Tigers
Kyle Bird (LHP) & Locke St John (LHP) were called up from AAA

I consider this series with the White Sox a big one, we need to win 2/3 before we head to Detroit

Lost in the tenth inning 4-3 our record stands at 40-36
Jurado went 6 innings gave up 6 hits 4 runs all earned walked 1 struck out 3 the big blow was giving up a 3 run shot to Collins
Mazara knocked in 2 by hitting his 10th HR
Odor knocked in 1 by hitting his 10th HR but he’s batting .174
Santana knocked in our other run
Went 1-6 with RISP & left 5 on base struck out 12 more times

To me a very disappointing loss, Lynn takes to the hill tonight

We gave up 4 in the top of the first, but scored 3 in the bottom half & went on to win 6-5 our record stands at 41-36
Lynn fought through 7 innings giving up 6 hits 5 runs all of them earned
Mazara had a big game going 2/4 both his hits went for HR’s he knocked in 3 now has 12 on the season
Choo-Choo, Forsythe & DeShields each knocked in one
We went 4-8 with RISP but left 8 on base only struck out 5 times

Sampson heads to the hill today coming off two straight awful starts

We jumped out to an early lead & won 7-4 record stands at 42-36
Sampson was good throwing 7 innings giving up 7 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 4 he threw only 91 pitches
Santana & DeShields each knocked in 2 runs
Santana hit his 8th HR a 2 run shot
Federowicz hit a HR his second of the year
Mazara & Guzman each knocked in one run
We went 3-10 with RISP & left 4 on base struck out 9 more times

Off tomorrow as we head to Detroit for 3 & then to Tampa for a weekend series

We are 28-15 at home but only 14-21 on the road, 9 of our final 13 games are on the road before the All Star break

We are in the Motor City for a three game set, need to win 2/3

Chavez,Minor & Jurado are our starters
Gallo should be activated today

it is, but with this team the floor could still fall apart at any time... I hope we are buyers at the trade deadline .... but for sure a happy surprise thus far

for sure thought Minor was going to be sold at the deadline and was excited for fantasy purposes that he might get home games in a more pitcher friendly yard. Does not appear to be the case, good for you

for sure thought Minor was going to be sold at the deadline and was excited for fantasy purposes that he might get home games in a more pitcher friendly yard. Does not appear to be the case, good for you

GWarner27

One thing about our owners is they could still sell Minor which would piss off everyone,Odor is on the block for sure also heard they are shopping Choo-Choo

Jumped out to an early lead & held on to win 5-3 we are now 43-36 a season high 7 games over .500
Chavez went 6.1 innings gave up 5 hits 1 run which wasn’t earned walked none & struck out 7
Shelby Miller was ineffective yet again pitching 1.0 giving up 1 hit a two run blast won’t be surprised if he’s DFA’d very soon
Guzman went 2/3 knocking in 2 one hit was his 7th HR of the season
Mazara, Forsythe & Gallo each knocked in one run
Went 3-10 with RISP & left 9 on base struck out 7 times

Minor on the hill tonight

Minor throws a complete game gem & we hit 3 HR’s to win 4-1 record is now 44-36
He threw 108 pitches gave up 5 hits 1 run which was earned walked 2 struck out 7 his ERA is now 2.40
Calhoun,Mathis & Santana all hit HR’s in the 5th
Guzman knocked in one run as well
Went 0-2 with RISP left 5 on base struck out 12 times
Gallo 1-6 since coming back, should get the day off or be the DH this afternoon

Jurado takes to the hill this afternoon before we fly off to Tampa

Powered by Gallo’s two solo HR’s & Jurado’s solid 7 innings we sweep the Tigers record now stands at 45-36
Winners of 5 in a row & are 7-3 in our last 10
Jurado 7 innings 6 hits 0 runs allowed walked 1 struck out 4
Gallo went 2/3 hitting two HR’s he’s got 19 on the year & 44 RBI ‘s
Choo-Choo knocked in the other run
Went 0-3 with RISP left 5 on base struck out 13 times
Kelley recorded his 11th save

Off to Tampa on a high note, only 4 games behind the Astros but as I keep saying I still feel the bottom could fall out at any time
For now I’ll keep on enjoying the ride, for sure they’ve exceeded my expectations so far

Lynn throws a gem & we are now 10 games over .500 winning 5-0 our record now 46-36 on a 6 game winning streak
He went 8 innings threw 112 pitches struck out 10 gave up 3 hits & walked just 1
our weary pen has now had two straight games to get some rest
Guzman went 1/4 knocked in 2
Odor woke up some going 3/4 knocking in 1 raised his BA to .188
Choo-Choo went 1/4 knocking in 1
Went 3-9 with RISP left 6 on base struck out 6 times

The win has assured a winning road trip, right now our most glaring weakness is a total lack of production from our catchers offensively
Pen is rested a bit
Sampson takes to the hill today

We had to lose sometime, couldn’t hit the “kid” & lost 5-2 record stands at 46-37
Sampson was ok pitching 6.0 innings giving up 5 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked 2 & struck out 7 he did give up a two run bomb in the second
Forsythe drove in 1
Went 0-4 with RISP & left 5 on base struck out 6 times
Could only muster 5 hits all game, McKay put down the first 16 Rangers in order until Santana got a hit

Chavez takes the hill tomorrow vs Snell

We just went through the motions today & lost 6-2 dropping the series our record stands at 46-38
Chavez went 6 innings giving up 5 hits 4 runs 3 of those earned walked none struck out 8 & gave up a solo HR to Pham
Gallo hit his 20th of the season a two run shot off of Snell
We struck out 17 times Forsythe & Guzman 3 times each Choo-Choo, DeShields, Mathis & Calhoun twice each
Went 0-2 with RISP & left 1 on base

While we had a very good road trip 4-2, I’m worried that certain players feel they just just go through the motions & win. Our team has overachieved so far tonight is a key game especially with Minor on the hill
Let’s see how they come out, the Angels are in town for four games

We all know last nights game was postponed due to the untimely death of Tyler Skaggs
They will play the game this evening, Minor vs Suarez, should be a great pitching duel

Angels pulled away with 4 in the sixth to go on & pound us 9-4 we are now 46-39 losers of three in a row
Minor never looked comfortable & lasted only 4.1 he allowed 2 hits 3 runs all of them earned walked 4 struck out 4
Fairbanks didn’t record an out 0.0 gave up 1 hit 3 runs all earned walked 2 & took the loss (0-2)
DeShields, Mazara & Odor each knocked in one run
We struck out 10 times went 0-6 with RISP & left 5 on base

Jurado takes the hill tonight, the “old” Rangers have shown up our last two games
These guys haven’t played with the same “swagger” I do hope tonight they break out of this malaise

Trout beat us by himself blasting 2 HR’s knocking in 3 runs, we lost 6-2 dropping our record to 46-40 now losers of 4 in a row
Jurado went 6.0 innings allowing 7 hits 6 runs all earned walked 1 struck out 7 & gave up both HR’s to Trout
We only mustered 4 hits & have only 10 hits in the first two games of this series
Andrus & Federowicz each knocked in one run
Went 1-4 with RISP & left 5 on base
Struck out 16 times, yes 16 times led by Odor with 4 K’s Choo-Choo & Gallo both 3 times
Gallo 0-7 last two games, Odor 1-7 his BA is now .186

The “funk” is getting funkier, yes we’ve overachieved I get that, this team can’t afford to read its press clippings
Have to get back to basics soon before we become that mediocre team everyone thought we are including myself

Lynn takes the mound tonight

Odor had himself a game finally, bats woke up & we won 9-2 record is now 47-40
Lynn went 7.0 scattering 9 hits 2 runs both earned walked 1 struck out 5 gave up a bomb to Trout who had 3 HR’s over last 2 games
Odor went 2/5 both hits were HR’s he now has 12 for the season he knocked in 5
Mazara went 4/5 knocking in 2
Santana & Cabrera each knocked in one
We went 3-14 with RISP & left 10 on base struck out 12 more times
Still no discipline at the plate we struck out 38 times in this three game series

Off to the Twin Cities for a three game series before the All Star break, we need to win at least 1
Sampson takes the hill tonight

It was an old fashioned ass kicking as the Twins beat us 15-6 our record stands at 47-41
Sampson got rocked in 3.1 innings he gave up 11 hits 7 runs all earned walked none struck out 5 and gave up 2 HR’s
Biddle, Martin & St John weren’t any better
Choo-Choo hit his 13th of the season a 2 run shot
Forsythe, Cabrera, Odor & Santana each knocked in one run
Went 3-8 with RISP & left 4 on base only struck out three times

Sadly we are limping into the All Star break 1-5 in our last 6 with two games left still with the Twins
Chavez takes the hill today

Fell behind 5-0 after 4 & never got into the game as we lost 7-4 record now stands at 47-42
Chavez went 5.0 innings allowing 5 hits 5 runs 4 of them earned walked 2 struck out 3
Calhoun knocked in two via his 5th HR of the year
Elvis hit his 8th a solo shot
Mathis drove in one
Went 1-6 with RISP & left 5 on base struck out 15 times
Gallo & Mazara each struck out three times
Mathis & Odor each struck out twice

This All Star break can’t come soon enough, we are 1-6 in last 7 games
Leclrec takes to the hill this afternoon
The thinking around here now is we will be sellers, not buyers

Odor saved the day for us with a 3 run blast in the top of the 11th to get us the win 4-1 our record at the break stands at 48-42
Leclerc gave us 1.2 innings allowing 3 hits 1 run which was earned walked 1 struck out 1
Jurado,Palumbo,Martin & Kelley held the Twins scoreless
Santana drove in one
Odor hit his 13th of the season & drove in three he has 47 RBI’s but batting only .193
We went 2-14 with RISP left 9 on base & struck out 16 more times, last two games we struck out 31 times

Would 100% of the Rangers fan base signed on to be 48-42 at the break yes, do we have many glaring problems yes
We have no discipline at the plate, our bullpen has been over used

The Astros come to Globe Life on Thursday for a 4 game series, off on Monday then two games with the Diamondbacks & then off to Houston for three
These 9 games will set the tone for the second half

Leclerc

Our second half starts tonight, we will know quickly just how this season will end up
We play the Astros 7 out of our 9 games, starting with a 4 game set tonight at Globe Life

We need a quality catcher & I really hope we don’t trade Minor

Lynn takes to the hill this evening
