No plays yesterday and the way the games played out, Im pretty glad I didnt.
Sides 14-12 +2.05 unit
Totals 26-26-4 -0.37 unit
YTD 40-38-4 + 2.42 unit
Carolina / Atlanta over 6.5
A case of when these teams meet the lights tend to light up. 2 meetings this year have already played to 7 and 9 goals. Both teams have found an offensive rhythm netting over 3 a night. Atlanta at 3.5 a night is the better offonsive team. Carolina is allowing close to 3.7 goals a night and Cam Ward and his .890 save % is still in 'hangover' mode IMO. Both teams special teams are good on the offensive side at close to 20% PP for both and middle of the road on the defensive side at close to 85% for both. moreso in their last 5 with PP of 20 and 25% and worse in around 75% on the PK. The only times the total stayed under in the last 10 was with a total of 7 set on the game. Over is 6-2-1 in Thrashers last 9, 11-3-5 last 19 meetings, 5-1 in Carolina road games, 5-2-3 last 10 meetings in Atlanta. Sign me up.
Toronto +130
Leafs always play well vs the SE division, save for Carolina, they are 39-15-6 vs the 'weaker division' overall of the east. Throw into that TB has troubles vs the Leafs and the NE division, at 5-21 vs the NE and 6-21-2 vs the Leafs. Leafs play a different road game overall, as they score over 4 goals a night on the road, and not against weaker teams, they racked em up vs NJ, Ottawa (once) and Montreal. Their PP is better than the lightning, slightly overall, but moreso in H/A splits at 22 - 16%. Throw in the PK units overall and H/a being better for the Leafs. Toronto kills penalties so far on the road at nearly 90%. Raycroft looked a lot better vs the Thrashers on Monday night and the day off Saturday seemed to rejuvenate him as he looked tired to me before that. TB is scoring more in their last 5 granted, but against Carolina (see above), Washington, and Philly I dont put oo much stock in that.
Los Angeles / Pittsburgh under 6
Both teams are allowing under 3 goals a night and right now are playing a solid defensive game. Under is 11-2 in LA games this season, 4-4 in Pitt. I know they are scoring on the road, but against Phlly, NYI and NYR again, not much stock IMO. Garon and his .941 save % should hold his own against hte Penguins tonight IMO. Both PK units around 85%. LA has 2 PP goals in their last 34 opportunities, and havent allowed a PK goal in the last 3 games.
Columbus / Colorado under 6
Blue jackets havent scored a goal in 10 days, 3 games. But at the same time they are playing defense, allowing under 3 across the board on the season, last 5 and H/A splits. The only game that has gone over in their last 5 games was vs Pitt, a game in which 27 penalties were called.
Thats it.
